Sugar Grove, North Carolina
Our log cabin is named 'Where the Greene Grass Grows'. If you want to get away to a cute, beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin on 3+ acres of absolutely gorgeous land, this is your next vacation spot! A small creek runs through the property and runs under Bethel road into the Watauga River. At the river you can go fishing, tubing or just play in the river and cool off.
There is a great wood burning stove in the living room area (DO NOT USE BASEMENT STOVE). On the main floor there is a full bedroom and a full bath, along with a washer & dryer room. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The dining room and living room will add to the cozy atmosphere. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with a twin bed, plus a pull out twin trundle. There is another bathroom upstairs "tub only" between the 2 bedrooms. Relax on the front porch or back deck on the rockers or swings. The back porch has a grill and the full basement can be used for game night.
This cabin was built in 1985. It is only a few miles to Watauga Lake, Beech Mountain skiing and you can drive just a few minutes further to reach Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Tubing at Hawksnest & Appalachian Ski Mountain. Boone is a great college town for Appalachian State University, plus has shopping, restaurants, movies. Valle Crucis is only about 5 miles away and is home to the Mast General Store and the famous Candy Barrel. Blowing Rock is also close by which has incredible unique shops and is home to Tweetsie Railroad. This cabin has very easy access points to the Blue Ridge Parkway and is only 30 miles away for the Nascar Races in Bristol, TN. The elevation in this area is around 3400' and provides some of the best views in the world, especially when the leaves are changing during peak season.
If you rent 'Where the Greene Grass Grows' you will have memories you will cherish forever!

Not a nice safety road to go to ski. Far from everything. We paid for 3 days but we stayed 2
It was a very cute cabin with everything we needed. My 14 month old loved exploring with us in the woods. Everything was very clean and for the most part as kid friendly as it could be.
If you’re looking for a quaint cabin retreat to unwind and disconnect this is the place for you!
The cabin is actually what you would think about in the Mountains of NC. It is decorated very nicely with country antiques and very cozy. The drive time to local attractions and sites is not bad at all and gives you a chance to enjoy the local’s atmosphere. If you hunting for a Christmas tree farm during your stay there are plenty around in the area. The Cheese Factory in West Jefferson is about 45 minutes away and is a most to go see. They have some great antique stores in the area. Boone and Blowing Rock are both just a short drive with numerous shops and Antique stores to keep you busy. If you are into skiing, mountain biking, or fishing you will not be disappointed. Great place hope to visit again soon.
Comfortable and roomy digs reasonable distance from Blue Ridge. No views of mountain vistas from the deck, but situated in a lovely wooded area surrounded by trees (for us) in glorious fall foliage. As noted by other reviewers, at night we could hear neighbor's dog barking, but it was not like it was so close and/or loud that it set our dogs off or kept us awake. With two baths and three bedrooms, this place can't be beat for a group who want to split costs and keep expenses down. Not the poshest VRBO I've stayed at, but more than adequate and an outstanding value. I would recommend to friends and I would stay at again.
This little cabin was perfect for us. We have family that is right up the road, so being so close was amazing. It’s a great cabin. No Wi-Fi, but we weren’t there to be on our phones. Easy communication and easy to get to and into. Will Definitely book again.
The house was nice to stay in. We didn't spend much time in it because the location is so close to places to visit like blowing rock and grandfather mountain and tweetsie railroad. The owners were easy to get in touch with before and after check in. You will definitely enjoy the privacy and wildlife staying here.
We loved the cabin and how it was tucked away in the woods. The hosts were wonderful and were so helpful to us we were trying to figure out the cable TV! We will definitely stay again
Lovely cozy cabin! Perfect for our weekend getaway. Even our puppy loved it. Owners were easy to contact when we had questions.
We could never get the heat warm enough. Plus, I am on oxygen and the propane heat was not good for me. If I had known it was propane I never would have booked. The couch was very awkward. You had a sense you were sliding forward all the time. I had to lay down in order to feel comfortable on the couch. The main b croon stayed cold. All heat seemed to travel upstairs which I could no go up and down. When trying to sweep, the only brooms bristles kept breaking off and there was no dustpan. We brought a portable vacuum and used it to vacuum up the bristles etc…. This cabin is cute, but not structured for elderly. Bathroom was in strange location. The trash dump was closed on Sunday so we had to ride around Boone to look for one, would have been nice to know other locations. I blame myself for not asking more questions, but when it advertised 3 acres I assumed we would Hhave some privacy and yard we could actually walk around in. The dogs next door barked constantly. We have stayed in many vrbo cabins, but never had to bring all supplies needed. Paper towels, toilet paper, foil, etc…. We always left dry goods to help next renters out, which most renters do. Just wish our trip would have been more pleasant. The propane gas topped the list though. Very tough to breath at times. Owners were very cordial in our advance stay and always responded very quickly. I just should have ask more questions.
Very nice rustic cabin. We were expecting two others however scheduling for them prevented them from coming. Very peaceful and tranquil.
My 2 kids (20 & 13), 2 dogs and myself enjoyed the coziness of this secluded cabin nestled back off the road. It is definitely very welcoming and the pictures don’t do it justice. We did have cell service (Verizon) but truly loved that the internet part of the phones did not work as it forced the kids (and myself) to connect. The upper porch swing made for the perfect setting to enjoy my morning coffee. Even had a woodpecker to adore both mornings. I did hear the dogs from up or down the hill, but having dogs myself, I hardly noticed them, and it definitely did not take from our “cabin” experience. We did arrive after dark and missed the driveway as it’s just a small opening to ur right and very easy to miss. And we figured out very quickly once we realized it was that cute little cabin “down the hill”. The basement has a table and chairs with a dartboard! Added bonus! We also found the cabins has sleds and skis for the winter visitors!! We did head into Boone for shopping and hatchet throwing (a must do). Great little town. We will definitely be returning for another visit and using this cabin again. The hosts were great and the cabin was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. I hope your visits here are as enjoyable as ours was. The only thing I think it lacked was screens on the upper room windows. To keep the temperature good downstairs, it got a little too warm upstairs. We did find a box fan in the downstairs bedroom closet, which helped a little. But we couldn’t open the windows at all because we didn’t want bugs to get in. But definitely not a deal breaker. We look forward to our next stay ❤️ The Tracy’s
It was very quiet and peaceful. The only drawback was that we did not have the time to stay at the cabin ?. Only got to sleep there. Next time we are going to stay a few extra days to rest.
Very nice comfortable cabin. Secluded and quiet. Good place to unwind.
The location of the cabin was ideal for visiting my family, who live less than 10 minutes away, and the cabin itself included everything I needed for my 10-day stay. I appreciated having the washer/dryer and a window AC unit that worked well on warm, humid days to cool the first floor. I did not use the second floor during my stay. Two unexpected glitches were addressed promptly and with great consideration by the owners. Unfortunately, one glitch involving the satellite TV could not be resolved by DISH during my stay despite every effort by the owners. On the plus side, my Verizon cell phone worked fine for calls as well as texts, and my T-Mobile hotspot provided Internet for three cell phones and two IPads, but did not allow for streaming videos. The only real downside I found with the cabin has been noted by others in the comments. The neighbor’s dogs do bark a lot between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. I wasn’t unduly bothered by it, but others might be. Overall I had a very enjoyable stay, and I would love to stay in this cabin again.
Very good place, just make sure you are ok without internet
Very peaceful, remote, quiet and cozy. Pictures do it justice.
