Blowing Rock, North Carolina
The Little Log Cabin, aptly named, is a charming cabin in the woods ideal for relaxing, exploring, and enjoying all that the beautiful High Country has to offer.
Small but mighty, this 730 sq ft cabin sits at around ~3500 ft elevation, features picture windows throughout offering beautiful year-round long-range views. I have spent 2021 preparing this little slice of heaven for guests; I hope you find Little Log Cabin as magical as I do!
The cabin is centrally located in the Wilson Creek area between Blowing Rock and Linville - just ~20-25 minutes to each. Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway are both a quick 10 to 15-minute drive, with tons of world-class hiking, fishing, camping, swimming, and skiing close by. Venture into Boone (~30 mins) for a visit to Kidd Brewer Stadium or a stroll down King Street; ride the Alpine Coaster (~25 mins); hike Profile Trail (~25 mins); ski at Sugar Mountain (~30 mins); or check out one (…or three) of the nearby wineries.
Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing getaway or an outdoor mountain adventure, we provide you the basic comforts of home to make travel a little bit easier: hand soap, dishwasher pods, kitchen towels, paper towels, basic oil/salt & pepper, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Just bring your bags and unpack!
LIVING/DINING/KITCHEN
The main space offers an open concept kitchen, dining, and living room with a large sectional couch and plenty of space to relax. Fire up the Roku TV to stream your favorite shows or sporting events (must provide your own login), or lounge on the chaise with a book and a beverage. An additional sleeping (or movie watching) space is available on the full-sized pull-out couch.
The dining table with seating for 4 (extra leaf available) is perfect for a game night, buffet style meal, or remote office with a view.
Start your day watching the sunrise with coffee from the 12-cup drip coffee maker (filters provided) or make a few cups in the French Press.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots, pans, and utensils needed to cook up a large family meal for 4 including a blender, mixer, crock pot and a large, deep sink with sprayer faucet. Utilize the drop-leaf kitchen island for additional prep/service space. The refrigerator/freezer has an automatic ice maker but no filtered water dispenser – the tap water (from a well) is perfectly fine to drink and is some of the best tasting filtered mountain water you can get.
*Note* there is no garbage disposal and the cabin is on a septic system, so please don’t dump food or grease down the drain!
BEDROOM
Sleep off the day of exploring in the King bed with a comfortable, thick duvet (lighter quilt available in the summer months) and blackout curtains. A second HDTV equipped with Roku is in the bedroom. The spacious walk-in closet offers storage for all your luggage, jackets, and outdoor gear.
BATHROOM
The bathroom, which is detached from the bedroom, offers a large walk-in shower and bench seat (no tub) with all the basic amenities you’ll need throughout your stay.
LAUNDRY
Connecting the bedroom and bathroom is a small hallway with full-sized washer and dryer and a few laundry pods to get you started.
WIFI/CELL SERVICE
Cell signal is generally strong inside the cabin thanks to the signal booster, but can be unreliable in the surrounding areas. The home is equipped with Starlink high-speed satellite internet offering speeds of up to 100+ mbps. Remote work or streaming should be no issue, however please note: we are in the mountains after all, and you may experience rare but short intermittent outages from time to time.
OUTDOOR SPACE
Sit on the covered porch and enjoy a mountain thunderstorm, hang out in the bistro area, or venture to the fire pit for some smores.
Other notes: This cabin is accessed by a paved state-maintained road that is plowed in Winter but is very steep. 4WD or AWD is REQUIRED Dec-Feb for Winter. Cell signal is generally strong inside the cabin, but can be unreliable in the surrounding areas.
*NOTE* NO PETS ALLOWED AND ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.
We enjoyed it. It was super clean
The little log cabin was everything we wanted to start our family vacation! The cabin was extremely clean, included everything we needed (even though we brought a lot of our own stuff) and was conveniently located in the middle of all our planned excursions. We cannot wait to come back to this place!
We loved our stay in this charming little cabin with spectacular views! Everything was clean and fresh, the bed big and comfy. Even with a foggy, rainy weekend, we had a wonderful time. We prepared meals in the well appointed kitchen, read for hours on the cozy sofa, even made our way to Main St. one evening for some shopping and a delicious dinner. Our visit was short but very refreshing and relaxing. The little log cabin provided everything we could possibly want for a weekend getaway.
The cabin was marvelous. We went to rest and relax and that’s exactly what we did. The cabin was super clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was right on hand. My only concern was the lack of curtains or blinds on the living area windows. The sun was pretty intense and after dark there was a little bit of a fishbowl feeling. That said, the view out the windows was amazing, especially the sunrise! I would highly recommend this wonderful cabin and would love to return…soon!!
Clean, cozy, great amenities and appliances. Fire pit stocked with split wood. Very close to Grandfather Mountain and downtown Blowing Rock. Excellent view.
We had a great time. The view was amazing and the location was perfect for all we wanted to do.
We stayed up there during peak season in October. The cabin was in excellent condition and very clean. Very peaceful neighborhood. Incredible view and very comfortable. All the appliances and bathroom were up-to-date and modern. Cleanliness was impeccable. The owner communicated very well and answered all of our questions. Would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at little log cabin. It’s beautifully and lovingly furnished and stocked. It’s so comfortable and cosy - I only left very reluctantly! If you are considering this place, don’t hesitate, it’s fabulous!
Very clean & cozy cabin. Layout was perfect for a couple. Location was great. Very happy with 2 night stay ,just wish the outside area was nicer to enjoy outside, & mountain views, but this cabin is a wonderful choice, and I would stay again ! Sarah is wonderful host and really succeeded in making the stay comfortable.
If you need a place to be still and absorb the beauty of the mountains, this is it. Add in great amenities and nearby hiking and you can’t miss!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Log Cabin. This was about the cleanest place we've ever visited. There was also great attention given to providing all the comforts of home- this cabin was very thoughtfully furnished. Unfortunately, we were a bit surprised by how Unfriendly the path to the firepit was... potentially dangerous for kids and/or older folks. Overall, a great experience and we enjoyed the proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sarah, the host, was exceedingly responsive to to our needs. We found the WiFi to be dependable, our Verizon service was spotty.
Peaceful, amazing views, great location. The cabin is beautifully decorated and was fully equipped with everything we needed. Can't wait to return!
The Boone/Blowing Rock NC area is gorgeous and coming back each day to Sarah's beautiful cabin was wonderful! It was very clean, which is my top priority. Her key code seems to be tailored to each different guest in a manner that is easy to recall. Emergency preparedness was noted in her owner's binder. She thought about any amenity that you may need. It was a perfect stay.
We came from Austin to celebrate our first anniversary, and the little log cabin was absolutely perfect! We felt secluded, but not isolated. The view of the mountains is stunning! The cabin is newly updated, fully stocked, and oh so cozy. We picked up some groceries in Blocking Rock on our way, so we wouldn’t have to go anywhere for food. Hundreds of hiking trails surround the cabin, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just a few minutes away. I would go back in a heartbeat!
We had a great time at the Little Log Cabin! It was the perfect, peaceful getaway with any amenity we could possibly need. Sarah was friendly and super responsive - and has done a beautiful job decorating and furnishing the cabin. We loved having access to games during some rainy weather and enjoyed the view when skies cleared up. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
Peaceful, quiet, restful.
This has to be the best vacation rental I have ever stayed in! Firstly, Sarah is incredibly friendly and has GREAT attention to detail. The cabin is impeccably clean and beautifully designed. She also provides a ton of information on things you can do in the area. My partner and I had no itinerary for our week trip, yet our days were filled with activities based on Sara’s written recommendations, which were all SO much fun! The location is also PERFECT. You get the privacy of a secluded mountain cabin, yet have ski slopes, tubing, hiking, vineyards, etc are no more than ~30 minutes away. Staying a little log cabin was truly a dream and I definitely intend on renting here again.
We loved the Little Log Cabin! Sarah was an excellent host who promptly answered our initial questions about the rental property upon check-in. We loved the views - the sunrises are amazing over the mountains! You have a perfect view from the living room windows. She truly thought of everything - from games/puzzles, to kitchen needs, to hooks by the door for our winter jackets. The couch is the most comfy by far! We wish we would’ve booked more nights. Lots of local hiking spots just a short distance away too! The road is very steep (just as described) so I definitely echo the need for a 4WD in the winter. The cabin provided a perfect, quiet getaway for us!
We really liked the cabin. Out just a little to far down a very curvy road.
Great little place to stay. Cabin was well stocked, clean, and host was easy to work with!
