Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
At Lazy Cub Lodge, it’s easy to relish the beautiful Smoky Mountain setting. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom cabin has a large deck looking out toward the mountains, a sunroom furnished with plenty of comfortable seating and a large yard replete with a swing. Don’t be fooled by the quiet, bucolic surroundings, though, the lodge is also just a 10-minute drive to the Pigeon Forge Parkway, home to dinner theaters, attractions and restaurants galore.
The great room dominates the main floor of Lazy Cub Lodge. With its towering, vaulted ceiling and large windows, this wood-planked room is a bright, airy space for enjoying good times with family and friends. On chilly winter evenings, everyone can gather by the fireplace for a game of charades. After a summertime hike, you can sprawl out and cool off beneath the breeze of the ceiling fan (don’t worry, there’s also central air-conditioning for sultry days).
The dining area is part of the great room. At least six people can sit at the table, and an adjacent counter can accommodate several more. You can dine outdoors too! The deck includes a picnic table. There’s a gas grill outside too, so you can cook as well as dine alfresco. Of course, Lazy Cub Lodge has a kitchen too, equipped with a full array of appliances, cookware and tableware. Even if you eat your meals at the numerous nearby restaurants, you’ll love the convenience of having a refrigerator to keep wine and juice boxes cold and the ability to brew a cup of coffee or make popcorn whenever you want—it’s one of the many advantages of staying in a cabin rather than a hotel.
Another advantage of staying at Lazy Cub Lodge is the huge upstairs game den. It’s so large that it has several “zones” so everyone can spend time together while doing his or her own thing. One area features a full-size pool table. Another is furnished with a TV and a couch that invites you to sprawl out and make yourself at home. The third area, with another sofa and a rocker armchair, is ideal for curling up with a book or taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi to surf the web.
Lazy Cub Lodge’s sunroom might be the ultimate relaxation area. Oversized windows allow you to gaze out at the Smoky Mountains as you sip a beverage on a rocker or play checkers at the game table. Perhaps you’d rather head outside to the deck’s rocking chairs or porch swing. A second swing is in the yard. Either is tailor-made for stargazing with your sweetheart—so romantic! Equally romantic is a moonlit soak in the deck’s hot tub. Then again, a soak in the hot tub is pretty fabulous just about any time of night or day!
Along with three bedrooms, Lazy Cub Lodge has three full bathrooms. Having a bathroom for each bedroom means you can treat yourself to a lengthy pampering session without a line forming on the other side of the door. Two of the bedrooms include queen-size beds. The primary bedroom boasts a king-size bed and French doors that open onto the deck, so you can slip outside to watch the sunrise without waking the others.
In addition, two of the sofas open into beds for two, enabling Lazy Cub Lodge to sleep 10 people in all. Other amenities include a washer and dryer. Not only can you pack light, but you can also return home with clean laundry!
The ultimate convenience just might be Lazy Cub Lodge’s location. As you sit outside among the singing birds and the fresh mountain breezes, you can easily forget that in less than 20 minutes, you can drive to Dollywood, the Titanic Museum, Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, Wears Valley Zipline Adventures, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies and Parrot Mountain and Gardens, among other attractions.
When it comes to location, comfort, privacy and convenience, Lazy Cub Lodge is tough to beat. Don’t miss out, book your stay today!
It was a great experience
Very nice and clean . Enjoyed all the views , and would come back again . Nice and peaceful!
We totally enjoyed this cabin. Very well stocked with all you would need. Our only advise is to please make sure that the vehicle you bring is either all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. The driveway is straight up!
This home could be wonderful with a little TLC. The location is great and secluded although the driveway is very steep. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are close by. I had no issues with the location of the home. The home itself just needs some help. The outside furniture is on its last leg with some of it broken. The inside furniture is also on its last leg. Some of the inside furniture is damaged. The pool sticks are broken, the pool balls are broken with chunks taken out of them, the darts are broken, there are missing checkers from the checkerboard. In the journal on the tv stand I read where others also noted the same issues. There are several places where the wall paper is peeling off the wall. The wifi is also very challenged and had a hard time supporting a larger group. The house is ok. A $5k investment would make a world of difference in the experience of a guest.
This place was very nice. We had fun and there was enough room for everyone. The driveway is super steep!!!! And don't follow your GPS and take the first right when you are leaving ? it takes you up a scary soad then has you turn around back to the road the house is on (did it to all 3 of us). Our only complaint was there was no extra trash bags, one extra roll of toilet paper, one roll of paper towels and 2 tablets of soap for the dishwasher. We had 10 people staying for 5 days so had to go shopping.
Not pleased.
This was the cabin I just came back from on Tuesday after spending a week there. It's not a bad place if you're only planning to stay one or two nights. Furniture is very old, with the chairs mostly broken down. Not very comfortable. It states that each bedroom has a bathroom-NOT TRUE. The master bedroom had a bath, and then there are two bedrooms that share a bath on the first floor. On the top floor (Loft) there is a bathroom. The rooms that had wallpaper on the walls were peeling. The hot tub was unusable because it had the worst musty smell ever. The bed mattresses were so shabby and lumpy. The pillows were flat. The refrigerator had a bad smell to it. The Loft had a horrible smell that we had to buy air fresheners just to be up there. Also, only two pods of dishwasher stuff to use for the whole week. We had to buy hand soap as what was provided was not good. There is a very steep driveway, but we didn't have that much of a problem getting up. You definitely could not use if there was snow or ice. With all the money that the owner makes per year on this cabin, you'd think they would update the furniture, change the wallpaper to something else, paneling if they don't want to keep up with the peeling. You couldn't use any of the furniture out in the yard. It didn't look like you could sit on it. Didn't try the grill, so not sure if that worked or not. The biggest fail, though, was that we had to wait an hour and a half to get into the cabin as the front door digital lock wouldn't work, nor did the key lock box. The management company employee, Olivia, tried her best to open it remotely, but couldn't. Finally the maintenance man came and opened the door with his smartphone and was able to get into the lock box for the key. We asked to just keep the key because I didn't feel like it was safe enough to just use the digital lock. At least my friends and I enjoyed our time together, which is what counts. However, if the owners expect to have people stay there, they really must update the place. It could be a very nice place to stay if the furniture was comfortable, even the dining room table chairs were not comfortable. That's were most people sit to visit. The view was really the only thing good about this place. I was very disappointed in this cabin after all the money I spent to rent it for a week. I was told that I would be compensated for the inconvenience of not being able to get in the first night. Haven't seen anything yet.
Overall it was a good place and we enjoyed our stay. However, it started off a little rocky when we couldn't get in because: -the door code wasn't sent -there's no cell service -the wi-fi information given was incorrect (Tip: on the far side of the porch by the swing if it's a clear day and you hold your mouth just right you can get about 1 bar) Other than that and the broken furniture (living room and porch) it was a really nice place, clean, comfortable, well stocked, and in a pretty good location away from the noise and traffic of town but still close. We spent most of our time in the loft. Also, the driveway is very steep. Not a problem but just be prepared.
Over all our stay was great. We loved this cabin and the rustic feel about it. It definitely needs some updating due to torn wallpaper and cleaning of the carpet But it was the old rustic feel of Pigeon Forge. Which we love. The management needs to have more info on their listings as well. I reached out to the company a few days before to see if they had a fire pit so we could bring firewood. They told me no that there was not one. Only to arrive and there was a really nice fire pit. Wish check in was not so late in the day. (4 pm) But we enjoyed our stay.
We had a wonderful time staying at the lazy Cub Lodge. The reason I gave it a 4 star is because a lot of the furniture was broken, the landscaping is in dire need of upkeep, and my father in law fell through a chair he was sitting on. Luckily he caught himself. The property is beautiful in a quiet place of the beaten path. It is a gorgeous house but it just really needs some tlc not just cleaned.
The house is a great size and perfect for a family vacation! The driveway to the house is extremely steep and I wish there was a picture that reflected that so that we would have been aware prior to arrival. The check in process was problematic for us specifically because we didn't get cell reception and wifi information they provided was incorrect. As a result, we had difficulty getting the access code to enter the house (had to drive out until we got reception). The house seems to be very popular and needs some thorough cleaning/updates.
The property was very clean, but needs updated. The chairs in the main sitting room must be from the 80's...broken down and soiled. Wallpaper was peeling off in a couple of the bathrooms, etc. With that being said for the price it was adequate. The location to downtown Pigeon Forge (12-15min) was good, but there is a lack of a view due to so many mature trees.
Had a Great Visit
Major updating is needed. The wallpaper was peeling from the wall, the bathroom sink in the master was partially clogged, chairs in the living area have no cushioning and the kitchen needs replenishing with enough coffee mugs to accommodate the guest. The mattresses on the pull out sofas inflate. The outside deck needs painting. The outside trash cans are ineffective to prevent bear entry. We had a mama and 3 cubs open the trash luckily there was no trash . outside. The grass needed mowing. The management company was quick to respond to a gas leak with the grill.
Yard was not mowed. Grass was too high for us to enjoy the swing or fire pit that is in the yard. Porches and outdoor furniture, except those at the front door with keypad, were filthy and could not be used by us or our guests. Bathtub in master had to be cleaned before we could use it. Hot tub smelled musty. Chair in living room was broken down and needs to be replaced before someone sits down in it and gets hurt.
We loved this secluded cabin. However, I do think it should be included in the description of the cabin how the driveway is. Had we not been on a truck, I don’t know if we would have made it up the steep driveway. The grass hadn’t been cut in probably 2-3 weeks and was rather high. It came up well past our ankles. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would come back!
