Take in a spectacular scene of evergreen mountains, sunlight filtering through the trees, and the deep teal waters of Lake Sutherland at this waterfront home on the edge of Olympic National Park.

This two-bedroom, lakefront home sits on the north shore of Lake Sutherland, a wonderful place to swim fromthe dock, launch the provided kayak, or fish for rainbow trout, coastal cutthroat trout, and kokanee all summer. The national park boundary is just across the lake while downtown Port Angeles is 14 miles east.

Whether you're planning to hike, kayak, or fish, you'll find the perfect place to end each afternoon on the open, tree-lined deck. This stunning spot overlooking the lake is ideal for morning coffee with a view, afternoon barbecues on the gas grill, and evening soaks in the private hot tub. A firepit just off the deck provides a cozy spot for s'mores and stories at night.

The house is full of Pacific Northwest charm, offering wood-paneled walls and ceilings, windows that frame the lake, and a pellet stove to curl up to in the evenings. The upper, main level includes a sitting area with a TV and DVD player, an open kitchen with every essential, and two bistro dining tables to choose from. The two bedrooms are split between the two floors, with the lower-level primary bedroom offering a desk workspace and glass doors that open to a second shaded deck and hot tub.

Steep, slippery stairs to access the property. For anyone with hip or knee issues, this can be a huge problem. It was for us. Be aware that you will need to turn the hot tub on. While they did turn it on for us, the beams above were so infested with spider webs and nests, it was bad enough that we didn’t want to use it. The beds upstairs need to be replaced. They are awful. The bed downstairs is ok for 2 nights max. any longer than that and back pain is a high probability. The carpeting on the stairs was fairly dirty and should be cleaned. Overall the cleaning was the typical property management, bare minimum style clean. Nothing over and beyond like cleaning dead bugs out of the windows. The trail to the lake - do not risk it. There was no way we were going down that trail. Death or serious injury may result. Nice views though, terrible safety concerns with those stairs to get to the house. The stairs, broken dishwasher, dangerous trail are not mentioned in the ad on Expedia which is unfair and unscrupulous. I was surprisingly offered a refund before I checked in, however we had already planned the trip, and couldn’t back out. The pictures are not what the house actually looks like inside. Also didn’t care for the layout upstairs - you’d think they would have more comfy furniture facing the actual lake. All in all, it’s a below basic, dated, rundown lake cabin Vacasa charges the highest rates for that simply isn’t worth it. We will not stay here again.

We did find the starter kit to start the fire out. We also did not find the toaster. Searched everywhere. An iron box to press clothes would be super helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay - particularly the view of the lake, hanging out on the dock and taking the kayaks out on the lake. The cabin was also very clean upon our arrival. The only issue we experienced was weak water pressure, but this may just be a nuance with cabin-living.

Great location for exploring Olympic park. Love the lake! Property was okay. A bit like camping. Not modern or updated at all.

We enjoyed this little lake cabin near Port Angeles. Great location near hiking and near town. The view is beautiful! Clean cabin! A couple reasons I didn’t leave 5-Stars are because of the steepness of the property is not represented on the listing well enough in my opinion. We managed ok but some definitely would not. Also, no propane in the tank (grill) when we arrived even though I messaged to ask in advance since I was buying food to cook on the way in. And, the dishwasher is broken. Still had a great stay! Just needed a bit more to rate 5-Stars. Would stay here again just being better prepared.

We booked this lodge with an expectation for something relatively good, but we got super excited at what we experienced here. The entire property was clean, a lot of dishes, pots and everything you need to stay. The view from the kitchen and primary bedroom is breathless. We spent almost all day dawn the hill on the dock. Peace and beauty is this place.

Eagles Nest was a beautiful peaceful relaxing property. We enjoying swimming, kayaking, and using the hot tub. This property met all of our needs for being convenient to ONP while allowing time to rejuvenate at the lake. The views are stunning from the top deck!
