Get ready to live the lake life at this Bigfork vacation home. Right on the lake and offering a large 600-square-foot dock for your boat and lounging, a two-car garage, and room for four people, this Montana vacation home will be your new favorite getaway year after year.
Gather on the large deck, complete with a gas grill and amazing view of Flathead Lake. Relax on the swing. If you have canoes or a large boat, you'll have your own dock to launch them from for an afternoon on the crystal clear blue water. Inside the home, you'll find gorgeous hardwood floors and a comfortable, laid-back style. A welcoming living room features a TV for when you want to unwind. Of course, the view from the living room is unbeatable, so you may not even notice the television. The well-equipped kitchen helps you save a little money on dinners out with all the appliances you need to fix a meal. Have a quick bite at the breakfast bar or sit down at the adjacent table. The table is big enough to spread out an epic board game, too! Your family will feel cozy staying here. A queen-size log bed sits beside a window in the bedroom, while the sleeper sofa works well for a couple or two children. One-and-a-half bathrooms add to the convenience. An in-home washer and dryer plus WiFi top everything off, for a completely comfortable home away from home.
Being on the lake, you could even boat out to Wild Horse Island and dock for a hike. In addition to lake adventures, Glacier National Park is just about 45 miles away for a remarkable experience in one of the country's most uniquely beautiful reserves. About the same distance away is Whitefish Mountain Resort, where you can ski and snowboard during winter before warming up with hot cocoa at your lakefront escape. Experience Montana like never before when you stay at Wheeler's Flathead Lakehouse!

This place has all you need and more. Located in a quiet neighborhood on the smaller end of the lake. The home is spit-spot, well stocked and furnished. The bed is super comfortable and even the fold-out was a nice memory foam mattress. We couldn't get enough of the view from the deck, the great stargazing and swimming off the private dock. Worth every penny and then some!
This property is NOT managed by a human and it has zero personal touch. It is managed by Vacasa, which requires calling a 1-800 number and waiting on hold for hours. Literally, I tried calling, texting, and emailing. I wasted hours on this company. I called to see if an earlier check-in was available. The 1-800 number person has no idea, was unable to give an answer, and told me that I’d receive an automated text on check-in day to tell me when I could check-in. So, you can’t plan. I received this text 20 minutes before the 4pm check-in. Inaccurate listing: there is no fire pit, but it lists one (this shady company probably already changed that). There is no “partial AC”… it only has ceiling fans. There was no ladder installed in the dock. It was taken apart up the (very steep and rocky) hill to the house. So you really can’t use the dock without it. Zero personal touch and very dated and blah decor. It is lacking many things and it was dirty. - oven handle gets really hot because it’s a cheap mini stove. My niece burnt her hand trying to get the pizza out. - Minimal and dirty dishes - 4 towels for four people at a lake house - Deck was filthy with ants crawling all over - picknic table was sticky and dirty - no kitchen rags or dish scrubber only a nasty sponge - Not enough extra blankets and they had hair on them Unless this is your ONLY option; I’d stay away from this property. It’s only redeeming quality is the lake.
The Wheeler’s Flathead Lakehouse was a perfect getaway home for my husband & I for 10 days!! While it is set back a bit from the lake, the views from the deck are priceless. The home was set up beautifully and had everything you would need and more. I would definitely recommend staying there :-)
Loved spending our anniversary in Montana! Cabin was wonderful! Might consider a Keurig Coffee Maker and upgrading the microwave. Other than that...perfect!
We've stayed here multiple times but this time were quite disappointed. The floor was dirty when we arrived. Vacasa said they would come clean it but never did and didn't get back in touch to communicate to say they wouldn't be coming. There was no extra toilet paper and no laundry detergent. The hot water heater stopped working. A real bummer overall since we've had great experiences in the past.
Very nice flat at the lake But no sunshelter on the terrasse, No reading lamp beside the bed or in the living room
We have stayed at this same home three times and it’s 100% for the location and lake access. The house itself is fine, a no frills experience but it’s definitely missing some key components that should be provided for a lake house. Like chairs for the dock or umbrellas to provide some shade on the super hot days. We love our days on the dock but chairs would be nice to truly relax. Keep in mind the trek to the lake is a long and steep one, beautiful once you are on the dock but not ideal for everyone.
Nice lake view from the pine sap coated deck. Sunlight coming is great especially in the evening cause there's no shades on the deck door to stop it. The hike to the lake shore isnt too bad. Nice to have a dock to hang out on but you cant launch the smallest of boat. If you see some more loving room furniture on the side of the road switch it out with what is there right now. 2 star appliances ( 1 their there 2 they work ) ps CLR the shower head . I think next time for the price ill stay at a hotel with easier access and more of a vacation feel
House was very comfortable and excellent scenery on the lake. We enjoyed the home. Only problem we had is there was no hot water for almost 4 days. We called maintenance and they were quick to respond. Water heater element was apparently faulty. Next day, a Sunday, no hot water again, and TV locked us out. Maintenance was quick to respond. Fixed both the hot water and TV.
I was a bit hesitant about a 1BR 1 bath for our family of four. But it worked. The ground/entry level was basically a large unfinished two car garage. The laundry room and a 1/2 bath were down here. There was also a random futon couch that folded down. I wound up sleeping in the basement as the wobbly queen bed in the master was not ideal for my wife and I. This way our 12 year old could sleep with mom and then just one kid had to sleep on the fold out sofa in the living room Kitchen was as expected. Deck was awesome. West facing. Plumbed gas grill. My primary concern, with this property is the dock situation. As pictured, it is an “L” shaped dock with the main stem heading due west and the “L” going to the north. Ideally the boat would be kept on the north side of the dock as the prevailing winds are from the south west. But, there was a non functional boat lift on the north side of the dock. And it was too narrow for a 22 foot surf boat. So we had to tie on the south side of the dock, but there were no cleats on this side of the dock!! Also, there is a huge boulder about 30 feet off shore and 50 feet south of the dock. I’m not sure how much the water level varies at Flathead, but over Labor Day 2022 the boulder was about six inches under water. I almost hit it on my first approach to the dock. Once you know it is there it is easily avoidable. I suspect maybe the reason the owner keeps the boat lift there is that it is probably against current code to put in a boat lift, but if the owner (or future owner) wants to repair/expand the boat lift that might be allowed. We would stay here again. Price was amazing.
Loved the quiet wooded location. Great swimming from the dock. Far enough away from rt 35 that there was no traffic noise. Comfortable beds and nice linens and towels. No skimping here. Thank-you to vacasa and the Wheelers.
This place is great, nice views, clean cabin!
Clean, extremely steep stairs to access living quarters, dated appliances, bed very firm, couch uncomfortable, way too many ants on the deck, unkept steel path to lake with lots of rocks and pinecones. We stayed a total of 8 hrs and left. Would be perfect for younger folks. Just not for us
This property exceeded our expectations for comfort and location. The views from the balcony are spectacular! Absolutely perfect. We will definitely return!
We had a great stay at the Wheeler lake house. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The views from this place are spectacular. There is a lot of thing to do and see around Flathead lake also. We would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I spent several days here while visiting Glacier N.P. and the area. It was very comfortable and had everything we could want. The large deck with views of the lake and mountains was beautiful. We enjoyed the swing down by the lake shore in the a.m. when it wasn't too cold. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while we were here.
