Enjoyed this property, view of lake was great! Darlene was very attentive to our needs.
The place was amazing and my kids had a lot of fun jumping into the lake from the dock. The views were spectacular. We loved this place.
I was a tad nervous reading some of these reviews. When we got to the property, the road was pretty scary, it’s what you would expect in the mountains of tennessee. However, my prius and everyone’s cars handled it just fine ! the cabin was clean and decorated with care. there was a fun scavenger hunt to find tiny relics around the cabin, as well as a journal to write a note about your trip for future goers! there were plenty of games and activities for the entire weekend. the path down to the dock was steep, but totally doable with the right footing and a firm grab to the railing. the water was clear and gorgeous ! the cabin was secluded, a perfect private getaway to a lakefront home :) the only thing I wasnt totally familiar with was that the twin bedroom is attached to the master bedroom. i don’t believe that is described specifically in the listing. not a problem though, it’s a great place for kids to sleep near their parents. had a wonderful time and would definitely book again!
Would recommend for adults, small group or couple. Cute hide away.
The place is wonderful, the cabin needs a lot of work. The lights on the terrace do not work as in some inside, there are exposed electrical cables in the kitchen, the BBQ does not have gas, they must inform that the fireplace cannot be used since it is one of the things for which we selected, the way down to the lake is very dangerous especially in the mornings with dew, the garbage collection system does not work, at least on holidays nobody answers the phone, I think the administration should take care of that, who goes on vacation To relax you should not be worried about garbage.
The roadway down to the property and the driveway of the property was rough and we probably would not have been able to get to it if we had our cars instead of trucks. Even the trucks scraped their bottom coming out of the driveway. My son had to park his car on the street before Buzzard Roost, because he got stuck on Buzzard Roost the first time up there. A kind neighbor helped him out of the deep pothole. Plus around 3-4:00 am we heard the pitter patter of little feet, rodents of some type, so we took to leaving a light on at night and that stopped. You might want to check the little door in the loft. My son said that it looked like someone locked their dog in there. Our dog would not go up the stairs, my son brought her up there and she ran right back down the stairs. It was a beautiful location, with a beautiful view other than the driveway and road above the cabin.
The pictures and description are not accurate. The home is in disrepair and dirty (full of large cobwebs, even in kitchen window), covered with leaves and more cobwebs. Floor was not thoroughly mopped. The third bedroom (which only consists of two twins and a small table for a lamp; no place to put suitcases or personal belongings) passes through the master bedroom which is mentioned in the listing, but doesn't have a regular door (only saloon doors) - NO privacy. The fireplace is not functional. Entire downstairs, including the porch is cordoned off with Authorized Personnel Only signs and a board to prevent entry. Dock is covered with goose droppings, a definite health hazard, and is quite unsafe with a lot of deteriorated wood. There was no available equipment i.e. fishing gear, floats, paddles (although there was a canoe), and if there was more equipment, it was in a locked shack. Some of the patio furniture is badly rusted. Fans don't work (or the paddles are missing all together). One of the screen doors has a large lower panel missing, as well as holes in screen; both doors are unusable unless you wanted mosquitos to visit. Driveway is steep. We needed 4WD to get out of driveway as we had rain the first few days. We had to back out as there wasn't enough room to park two vehicles and turn them around. I strongly encouraged the property manager to please visit the house personally. In fairness, the house has a lot of potential. Were the many repairs completed and the house thoroughly cleaned (in light of covid, we expected that it would have been), the home would be outstanding. The location is truly Unplugged and lovely. The kitchen (my favorite part :) ) is a delight and well-stocked with all the appliances and kitchen utensils we needed to cook great meals.
We had a relaxing vacation in this peaceful locale. The cabin itself was largely well maintained though some updates are definitely needed. The outside is, however, a very different story. The deck furniture is filthy and the dock is covered in bird waste and is dangerous disrepair. I wish I could write something different because we did enjoy this spot and would have returned if the dock and stairs weren't so treacherous but that's just not the case.
We had a hard time finding the property because the directions provided told us to turn right instead of left, and then there was no street sign for the road we were supposed to turn down. We really struggled to open the key code lock when we checked in too. It did not want to open! The website said there was fishing poles and canoe paddles but we could not find them. There was locked shed but we did not know the combo. I called and emailed about it and never heard back during our stay. The dock was very old and falling apart. There was a HUGE cobweb in the upstairs bedroom so my son was too scared of spiders to sleep up there. Some of the coffee mugs were chipped and not in good shape. We left a blanket there on accident and I called and emailed to see if they found it and never heard back about that either.
We rented this cabin for Memorial Day weekend with some friends . There’s some good things about this cabin and some bad . Inside was overall good . Bedrooms and bathrooms very clean . Kitchen needed to be gone through and get rid of some of the clutter . There were dishes probably let from the 80’s still there with all the dust in the cabinets . The dock to the lake is a different story . It is straight down and very dangerous to get to the lake . When you get to the lake the dock was very old and scary almost scared it was going to fall in . There was an old rundown pontoon sitting there that needed to be hauled off . If they do some updates this place could be really good but definitely need to work on dock and get a grill outside to grill .
