Perched on the south shore of Shadow Mountain Lake — where the Colorado River flows directly into Rocky Mountain National Park — this classic A-frame cabin is one of the most uniquely positioned waterfront retreats in Grand County. Direct lake access, panoramic mountain views, a private hot tub, and complimentary kayaks, paddleboard, and canoe are all included. Downtown Grand Lake is just 10 minutes away.

This is not a typical vacation rental. It is a front-row seat to theColorado wilderness.

ON THE WATER
The cabin sits directly on the shoreline with immediate lake access. Complimentary watercraft include a kayak, paddleboard, and canoe — ready to launch from your doorstep. Paddle to one of several nearby islands, fish for Mackinaw, Kokanee salmon, and rainbow trout from the water's edge, or simply drift and take in the mountain panorama. The recently upgraded private hot tub overlooks the lake and is available year-round. After dark, the skies above the lake rank among Colorado's clearest for stargazing, with minimal light pollution and an open horizon in every direction. Gather around the fire pit and let the night do the rest.

SUMMER 2026
July and August on Shadow Mountain Lake represent peak Colorado mountain living. The 4th of July fireworks display lights up directly over the lake, visible from the deck. Wildflowers are in full bloom across Indian Peaks and Never Summer Wilderness throughout the season. Kokanee salmon and Mackinaw trout fishing reaches its peak. Grand Lake Village hosts festivals, live music, and events throughout the summer — all within 10 minutes of the cabin.

THE CABIN
The A-frame layout maximizes the views from every level. The main floor features a private queen bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. The upper loft contains a twin-over-queen bunk and an open workspace with mountain views — ideal for families with children or guests who need to stay connected while traveling. The cabin comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests.

Family amenities include a Pack 'n Play, high chair, booster seat, children's dishes, and a selection of games and books for all ages. The kitchen is fully stocked with a crockpot, bakeware, glassware, and pantry staples including spices and oils. Outdoor dining is set up with a propane grill and Adirondack chairs for 6 adults and 2 children. Smart lock self check-in means your access code is delivered before arrival — no key exchanges, no coordination required.

WILDLIFE & NATURE
From the cabin's expansive deck, guests regularly spot moose, bald eagles, osprey, and bighorn sheep — no hiking required. The location at the convergence of Shadow Mountain Lake and the Colorado River creates one of the most active wildlife corridors in northern Colorado.

Perfect cabin with the most amazing view. Great well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, cozy fire, great wifi. The hot tub was perfect after a long day of snowshoing in RMNP. Honestly, this was a dream getaway.

We enjoyed a fantastic family trip for snowmobiling! The host was incredibly accommodating and attentive. The cabin was absolutely charming. My daughter was reluctant to leave. The beds were super comfortable. The property was kept in excellent condition. It was very cozy and inviting. The hot tub provided a wonderful relaxation experience. We are looking forward to booking again in the summer.

We had a wonderful visit at the cabin at the end of December. We had our boys with us and we all loved the beautiful lake views, hottub, and cozy fireplace. We had all the amenities needed and the host was very informative and friendly. We cant wait to come back and visit in the summer!

The cabin was perfect. My husband and I rented it for a short night away while we were in Colorado. We ended up having my best friend and her husband and her two little girls join us and it worked out great. The two little girls loved it and had plenty to occupy their time. The view was amazing. The kitchen was perfect and location was optimal. It’s right on the lake and 5 minutes to the main stretch of town.

Beautiful cabin and view. Well equiped kitchen. Bears are ravenous and strew trash of neighbors, not the owners fault.

Unfortunately, this was not the anniversary trip we were hoping for. The cleaning crew was still there upon arrival. The furniture is pretty run down and abused. The strip at the bottom of the shower door is half off and water pours out onto the floor. The light bulb in the bathroom was burned out and we had to take a bulb from another fixture to be able to see. There was a full load of dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we got there and a firepit full of burned wood that we would've had to remove and dispose of to have a fire. There was also dog hair everywhere, which we realized was a dog-friendly cabin, but still. The lake equipment was not usable, the kayak was in mud, the canoe was full of water and one of the paddle boards was deflated. The dock area was not able to receive any watercraft as it was too low, which would've been helpful to know as this was the primary reason for booking this location. There is more, but these are the key issues. The lake view from the deck was beautiful and perfectly represented in the photos and the owners did refund us the cleaning fee. However, we booked 2 nights and left after the first night and went home, (something we have never done!) Although we tried to make the best of it, our special anniversary weekend was not. We had high hopes considering the cost of this cabin and we were disappointed. We did attempt to ask for a refund for the 2nd night and explained the issues, but were declined.

This is an amazing property with a huge deck, large hot tub, wood burning fireplace and on the water. Views are amazing! Close proximity to everything. Short drive to Grand Lake and 20 minute drive to Granby. I highly suggest staying here !

The cabin is right up against the lake and has a little dock with a great view - perfect for quiet evenings and mornings. There were boats available for getting on the lake though I didn't leave myself enough time to really enjoy them. The cabin itself is small but open and airy with great views of the lake and mountains beyond. There were some initial issues getting the door unlocked but the host worked with me to figure it out and the rest of the stay was amazing. It's a beautiful cabin in a great location and I can't wait to come back and do it again!
