Staying for the weekend ! After enjoying the wonders of Carters Lake, take a short 20 minute drive to explore the neighboring destinations of Ellijay and Jasper. A bit further north you'll be in Blue Ridge, almost to the North Carolina line. Exciting nature hikes are plentiful along Carters Lake, including the Oak Ridge Trail, which runs lakeside and finishes near a creek. Another great trail in the area is Tumbling Waters which takes hikers to a gorgeous waterfall, one of the few falls not hidden underneath the lake. In the nearby area there is a wide variety of shops, great local restaurants, museums, historic battlefields, ruins and so, so much more.
Our home is surrounded by wooded mountains, steps from the pristine shores of Carters Lake and the nearby Oconee River...Georgia's best kept secret! Carters Lake is conveniently located about an hour drive from both the busy city of Atlanta and the charming city of Chattanooga, TN. Our mountainside home is surrounded by breathtaking foliage, and is a short 10 minutes to Carters Lake Beach and endless activities!
We invite you to visit our home at Carters Lake and immerse yourself in nature, history and a life in the mountains!
This vacation was for my sister and I to take time away from mom life, celebrate my bday and relax. This cabin was perfect for that. There was a slight hiccup during check in where I was delayed in receiving the check in code and details. With the very limited service in the area, I'd strongly suggest printing or writing out the directions from the road to the cabin and check in info. Once you turn off of the main road, the signal goes to the dumps until reaching the cabin wifi. Overall the stay was wonderful. We highly recommend
The house was nice; filled our need well for a place to stay for the weekend in this area. Very beautiful setting. There were a few things that could've been better. The chairs on the porch were still covered with pollen, and the map beside the microwave to show where the trash dumpsters are, was missing. Also there should be instructions for operating the video player. The road by the house is what I call off-roading.
We had to come through ATL to get to our destination which was really awful but we made it 3+ hrs after check in. Upon arrival the outside premises was a little disappointing. The fence was down in the back, the yard wasn’t cut, there was junk under porches and neither porch had been swept of pollen. Also, the hot tub thing in the back wasn’t clean and wasn’t able to be used or enjoyed. Inside was better! Every dish had to be pre-washed before we could use them because they had residue left on them. At this point I’m wondering why pay a cleaning fee if no one’s cleaning for the hostess? Nevertheless we were still determined to make the best of our getaway. The restroom isn’t roomy, so if you’re a bigger person, It’s a challenge. There is one ceiling fan, it’s in the living room. If you need a fan to sleep, bring your own. Overall, I was disappointed that I spent what I did just to work just as much as I do at home. I was grateful to get away and to bring my Truvy. Showing my kids the creek and mountains was priceless however and the memories are well worth the troubles.
