The house was on a beautiful piece of property. The actual layout of the house is not conducive for large groups. There is no main area where the group as a whole can sit and relax. Only one shower worked, the other shower sprayed water all over. Dishes were extremely dirty that were put back into the cabinets. There is no oven mitts, hand towels and bath towels. The house needs a lot of work and looks to be neglected. Any low hanging items including the antlers for jackets and the lighting fixtures are very hazardous to people above 5’6. Drawers don’t work and the kitchen isn’t organized or furnished to be functional. The outside is beautiful but the inside was a bit of a let down.
The home is truly unique. Backyard with Little Colorado River running through it creates a setting for relaxation and breathtaking beauty. With some cleaning of the exterior of the home and windows as well as some deep dusting/cleaning in the interior it would truly be considered A five star property. There were 7 of us and everyone had a great time.
We had a fabulous time at the Johnson's Retreat. Great location, fun quirky basement, nice deck, the river on the property was amazing! Needs some updating inside but for a rustic feel...this is the place! We really didn't use the inside much but if you were stuck inside that could be difficult.
Outdoor heaven The outdoor area makes this property unbelievable the kids never stop now if the owner would pay a little more attention to cleaning the inside and putting a little bit of comfortable furniture in the living room he would really have something special
We had a wonderful experience with the cabin having all the amenities needed. The only thing we would have wanted would be to have a larger living room as we had 15 people and the living room only seated 5. Otherwise...beautiful cabin and outdoor space!
Great place
The cabin was large and so comfortable. We have a big family and it was nice to have so much space to enjoy ourselves. Between fishing off the bridge, playing horse shoes or reading in the library, the kids were always busy. It is a great place! We will be back!
The cabin's location is perfect, and in good weather the grounds would be a paradise. Unfortunately for us, it rained every day during our week's stay, so we were unable to enjoy the many seating and activity areas around the property. Although the photos on the website show lush green grass from the back porch to the river's edge, in reality it is mostly dirt, which quickly turned to mud. Inside the cabin, there were comfortable beds for all 14 of us, but there was not a comfortable place to sit anywhere. If the weather had been better, we would have spent all our time outside. We did have books, games, and TVs which we would have enjoyed if there had been comfy couches and/or chairs. The kitchen is fairly well equipped but lacks serving dishes -- we tossed our salad in a stew pot! We had to call the office twice, for minor maintenance issues; both times the handyman arrived within minutes and took care of the problems. We appreciated having three full bathrooms and laundry facilities, and were grateful for reliable wifi.
