Lake Arrowhead, California
Boulder Crest is an historic 1920’s cabin built on top of great boulders looking over Lake Arrowhead. This is the mountain-cabin fantasy come true - except that it comes with new mattresses, dishwasher, washer
and dryer, chrome cookware, Wi-fi and all of the things that maintain the romance without sacrificing the comforts.
Boulder Crest occupies a triple lot, which allows for privacy,
outside recreation and parking for four cars. This beautifully
preserved cabin was featured on the Lake Arrowhead Home Tour.
The romantic interior is all wood with a large, rock fireplace. It
includes three bedrooms (two of which overlook the lake) and two bathrooms. Boulder Crest is ideal for sharing since
the “bunkroom”, which contains two double beds built into the pine walls, has its own entrance, bath and deck. There is a queen-size bed in the main bedroom; a double bed in the guest bedroom; two doubles in the bunkroom. New down comforters and pillows are included for each bed.
The kitchen is fully equipped, including an O’keefe and Merrit
stove. The refrigerator has a filtered, ice maker.
There is a barbecue on the very large deck overlooking the lake.
Wi-fi, Cable TV, VCR, CD player, coffee maker, microwave, washer and dryer are also included. There are two thermostat-controlled furnaces.
The cabin, which is within walking distance to Arrowhead Village,
also comes with a pass to access our dock for fishing and swimming and to the trails around the lake.
Check in time is 4pm and Check out time is 11am, unless otherwise agreed upon. The minimum stay during the week is 3 days. Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving rent only by the week.
Before you book a few things to consider. This cabin is not for everyone. It is very old, magical and charming but it is not a resort, does not come with hot tubs, concierge services, and a lot of the luxury touches that you will find some, particularly newer places in the mountains . Writers have gotten Emmy awards and an Oscar nomination for the work they have done here, but they still had to go down the outside stairs to the bunk room to take a shower because the upstairs bath has only a tub. They had to supply their own firewood, and live without a 60" tv.
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It’s a cute and cozy cottage with beautiful views from the balcony. Lots of laughs had round the roaring fire.
This was a perfect location for a girlfriend getaway- A quaint old cabin on the mountain built straight into rocks. Fully stocked with anything you might need for cooking, sleeping, relaxing or or just hanging out with gorgeous lake views sunrise to sunset! Host is super easy to contact and very accommodating- Thanks so much!
Cool house with lots of history. Big patio /deck with a Great Lake and mountain view. Recommend doing a lock box to cut out the key mailing back and forth. We cleaned surfaces because it was a bit dusty and fridge was very dirty upon arrival. But no biggie. Fire place and living quarters are small but very cozy and really make you feel like you are away on a wonderful getaway. I would stay there again for sure. Owner should purchase a new baby gate for stairs. The one stated at property was broken.
Perfect cabin for a week of solitude. Extremely quiet & peaceful location with the best view of the lake from the deck. The cabin is just as advertised & owner was very helpful. I’ll definitely consider staying here again.
Great location, but sad to have not known about the new ALA rules that no non-ALA members may use the path around the lake! It was a disappointment. Walking the lake is part of the lake life, and to be unable to do that was frustrating. Otherwise, we had a great experience. The house was clean, comfortable, glad to have fans on the hot evenings, too.
Relaxing setting with amazing VIEW !
This is a charming, extremely well-equipped cottage. The owners clearly created the space with pride and good taste that perfectly fits the setting. Communications with the owner were fast, seamless and accommodating.
We loved our stay, celebrating my wife's birthday. This is a very charming, cozy, classic mountain cabin with million dollar views of the lake. The views were spectacular & dramatic in any weather, and at any hour (we woke up one night to a perfect full moon illuminating the lake). The kitchen is small, but FULLY equipped, so we ate in every night--making dinners was much more fun than going out. The cabin easily accommodated two (small) families, six people total, and our host Kenneth was great & very responsive. (One small drawback: the only shower is downstairs in a kind of separate bunkhouse unit--but there is a beautiful tub upstairs with a glorious view of the lake!) A charming, homey, welcoming cabin--and you can't beat the location! Also, a quick walk down to the lake for lovely walks--or swimming (when the weather is warmer)...
The property was just as advertised....quaint, charming and cozy. It was well equipped and you can’t beat the location. It was the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Highly recommend.
We were very comfortable and had everything we needed in this charming cabin with a beautiful view of the lake! We had a great stay and we’re very comfortable. Communication with the host was easy, but we didn’t have any issues. We travelled with 2 small children and they had a great time as well. There was a baby gate for the stairs. The deck was so peaceful and evenings by the fire were a real treat!
