This is a dream location. The cabin was beautiful, clean stocked well, and the management was very responsive to any questions we had. I would stay here again I would recommend it to anyone we absolutely loved it.
A great place very enjoyable time! Beautiful scenery, and lots of things to do! Beautiful cabin and we had the best time ever! Thanks ?
We just returned from a family vacation for the memory books…a surprise xmas gift for our children. The house could not be in a more perfect location…walkable (even in snow and ice) down to the resort (just around the bend from the spa)…and we were even often able to talk some of the Sundance shuttle staff into rides back up (in addition to the occasional friendly local who just stopped and insisted we jump with our gear into their trucks for a drop off!). The views out the huge windows are stunning—we were so lucky to wake to a winter wonderland each day…the indoor hot tub a frequently used amenity after many hours playing in the snow—either on the slopes or right outside our door. The house is spacious and offers lots of places for people of all ages to spread out (do note that there is only one bed/bath on the main floor…everything else does require handling stairs. Not a problem for our group, but those with mobility issues might struggle). The outdoor fireplace?? The stuff of dreams. Plenty of indoor fireplaces to keep warm and maintain ambiance. They also came in handy when the entire canyon lost power because of the unprecedented snowstorm. No problem, as it was daytime (11ish in the morning) and we relished the adventure of stoking all the fires and cooking our meals in tin foil like early pioneers. As the hours wore on, we started to worry that we couldn’t find any flashlights or candles in the house. The owner, Chris, was instantly responsive and kept in touch with us and Rocky Mountain Power as the hours wore on. At 9pm, Chris and his friend showed up with a newly purchased generator, beer, fresh local bread, cheese, and flashlights. They spent about 2 hours with us, making sure the heat and refrigerator were working…that there was a place to recharge our phones/laptops…and that the driveway was completely cleared. He checked in several times afterwards, even after power was back on (we continued to lose it off and on for the next few days). THEN, I woke the morning before we were scheduled to leave feeling very ill. Positive for COVID. Chris immediately told us to “take as much time as we need” and allowed us to extend our stay for an additional 4 nights while I got well enough to travel. I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality and compassion. It was not our first time to Sundance, but we are pretty sure we’ve found our forever home away from home there, whenever we are lucky enough to snag it. Thank you Chris & fam!
The space was perfect for our family. Plenty of room for everyone. The hot tub and foos ball were both a favorite. It felt cold most of the time even with the fireplace going, and it there were a lot of dead flies around. Other than that it was very nice.
We had a great time at this property! We had two families (13 of us) staying there. It was the perfect size for us plus the perfect spot for the wedding we were attending. The loft area was just right for the 5 twenty-somethings in our party and the 4 couples each had a bedroom. We loved cooking together in the kitchen. We loved sitting out on the deck. Plus the hot tub was awesome! The hosts were great! It's a vacation our families will always remember.
I have rented this property in the past and love it’s proximity to the resort. The beautiful views from the living area and morning sunrise on the outdoor deck were spiritually uplifting. This trip was a thank you to special friends who have supported my annual yoga retreats to Sundance through the years.
Our group absolutely loved our stay here. We were incredibly close to a number of different hiking trails and took full advantage every morning. We spent our afternoons lounging and grilling on the deck with superb views of the mountains. Perfect rental for any group that wants to enjoy the Sundance area.
The location was easy to get to - and the scenery so incredibly beautiful! The property was designed to take full advantage of the spectacular mountain view and surrounding area. The accommodations were wonderful, very accommodating, and supported and enhanced a delightful family retreat.
We enjoyed our stay . Thank you
This was a wonderful property for family. Plenty of room and outdoor space.
Our stay was very magical. The views were incredible and it was perfect for a small weekend celebration with friends.
While we ultimately enjoyed a nice weekend, the problems we encountered left such a bad taste in our mouths that we will not be back. I hope to leave a balanced review that might help consumers better know what they might expect from this listing, and offer some constructive feedback to our hosts that might save them and future guests frustration, distress, and the panic of a host threatening to cancel our booking the night before. We rented this property eight months in advance to celebrate a dear friend's 40th birthday. He's a fan of tub-soaking, and the crowning glory of this place, in addition to the stunning wall of cathedral windows in the great room showcasing gorgeous nature, was a sunken hot tub in its own spa room, with another glorious wall of windows. The listing's reviews were reassuring. As one of the hosts pointed out when problems began boiling over, this place is, indeed, a bit cheaper than most Sundance listings of its size. Another positive is its proximity to Sundance Resort; I think it might be as close as one can get without actually staying onsite. We enjoyed a lovely stroll on a lit mountain path to dinner at The Tree Room. Other positives: Beds and pillows were on par with higher-end vacation rentals we've experienced in the area. Also, plenty of good quality towels. Outside of these positives a sense of neglect pervaded. Much of the caulk in the second floor bathroom was missing/flaking, the grout was old and stained. Bathrooms themselves had an RV feel, and some, size - second floor toilet was so close to a poorly placed toilet paper holder that most adults would have to sit at an awkward angle. The switch on the lamp in the loft was broken. We had to borrow forks from neighbors. An insufficient number of wine glasses, despite having checked on this in advance. The dial on the griddle: missing. I'm glad we thought to bring pots and pans, as the coating on all of the nonstick pans was flaking off. The coffee filters were the wrong type for the coffee maker. The outdoor dining table depicted in the listing was missing. Most of the above were annoyances to which adapted, though with with impotent shrugs from our hosts. It was their bizarre and panic-inducing communications the night before our stay involving threats to cancel our reservation that sealed it for us. And VRBO allows hosts to cancel anytime, for any reason, with no recourse to renters. To their credit, they ultimately refunded $400 for our trouble.
