We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilltop Log Cabin, a place to feel secluded, but conveniently located near civilization. The cabin is not far from the NC Arboretum, the starting point for the Shut In trail race. The Glenns made us feel so welcome and we hope to return in the future.
Great cabin. Very peaceful. Will be back.
Ms Gay famous homemade biscuits were perfect. Great place to get away and destress. Enjoyed the wildlife. Lots to do within 30 miles made it easy to enjoy lots of mountain town. Of course, hiking everywhere. Great wifi. Comfy bed. Very clean. Loved the screened porch. Nice fire inside and outdoor fire pit.
Beautiful property. Nice and quiet with lots of yard space.
Very enjoyable to get away!
My guests stayed at the cabins and had a great time They are great cabins owned by wonderful people
What a wonderful hilltop cabin in the woods! It was a beautiful, peaceful place to be with our small family and relax after a busy day of sightseeing. We spent 4 days and nights with activities planned for each day. When we returned late each afternoon exhausted, we had fun exploring the woods and stream, feeding the rainbow trout, enjoying the fire pit, relaxing in the cabin, listening to the jukebox, and cooking our dinners each night which recharged our batteries for the next day. The cabin was convenient for all of the activities we had planned. We spent one day at the Biltmore, another day whitewater rafting on the French Broad River, and another day hiking to see waterfalls. The owners were gracious and checked on us several times. They had fresh, delicious, homemade, rolls made by the owner, waiting for us when we arrived. What a welcome! For our last day, we followed the owners' recommendations to visit one of their favorite waterfalls at DuPont State National Forest. We hiked over 4 miles and saw several beautiful waterfalls along the way. We drove back to the cabin by way of the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped to see some of the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains. What a wonderful get a away! Thank you Glenn Acres!
Beautiful get away that is secluded. The fresh biscuits were fantastic. Would highly recommend if your looking for a cozy location off the beaten path. Plus Asheville is close by.
I stayed for the weekend with my daughter and niece and we enjoyed our time here. I am very directionally challenged so I had GPS going and I was referencing the directions given to us by the owner which included things/signs to look for. When we arrived at a dead end I assumed we weren’t in the right place. We turned around and drove around for some time then reentered the address in the GPS. We ended up right back at the same dead end. GPS appears to be sending you down the wrong road/driveway when in fact it’s the road/driveway the cabin is on. The road/driveway is between 10:00 and 11:00 when approaching the dead end. There are mailboxes on the right hand side of the road/driveway. Just a few car links down the driveway is the creek that you have to cross so when you arrive at this dead end you are in the right spot. Some reviews referenced needing a 4 wheel drive for the road up to the cabin but I was driving a mid size rear wheel drive car and had no trouble. I assume a 4 wheel drive would only be necessary if there was snow on the ground.
Had a great visit. Didn’t realize you needed 4x4 vehicle to get there, but it made it fun. The whole experience was good expect for the ants in the Queen bed upstairs.
We rented the cabin from Friday-Sunday as it was in an excellent location to pick up one child from sleep away camp on Friday and drop the other off on Sunday. We met my parents in Asheville and it was the perfect size and layout for our party. The cabin was clean and exactly as advertised; location gave us a lot of privacy and quiet, while only being a short drive to Asheville. Upon leaving, we all agreed that we would love to stay here again next year.
We loved the screened porch with the swing and rocking chairs!
Our grandchildren especially enjoyed the trout pond!
