Come relax under the stars, and enjoy the incredible RRG.

Ursa Major Cabin is named for the constellation Big Bear, (Big Dipper) in the Milky Way Galaxy. Located on a five-acre property with a private hot tub, fire circle, and outdoor area, this our favorite accommodation for groups of four. Located just 10 minutes from the NADA tunnel this is the ideal cabin for exploration and adventure in the RRG area.

Explore trails by day and sit back and relax around the fire circle andview stars at night. Or sit and view stars from the hot tub out back. This modern cabin has concrete counters, big windows with views, a large kitchen, two bedrooms with queen-size beds, and a large bathroom with a full bathtub. In the winter, enjoy the wood-burning fireplace for a cozy environment.

It was a great stay. Place was just as listed. If you’re looking for a place that’s quiet and still close to a lot of hiking and fun places this is the one for you. We didn’t have any issues at all!

Overall the accommodation did what we needed. We did not like the location as far as the road was basically one car width and an Amazon truck actually went off the road. Being secluded was good, but I was uncertain still with the accommodation having 3 sliding glass doors, but the natural light was nice. We did not use the hot tub.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean and had well-furnished kitchen. The hot tub is a nice addition to soothe sore muscles after hiking. We saw an indigo bunting, deer and fawn, and group of turkeys with young.

My family booked the cabin for 3 nights, it was nicely decorated as the pictures shown, however the functionality, details, cleanliness and the team's response regarding the washer being moldy and microwave not working sounds very unprofessional and disappointing. The test the washer and dryer are advertised in the website, there is no way the mold and dirtiness is acceptable, there was also mouse dropping on the floor next to the washer, the microwave and TV to be honest is a basic thing I don't think anyone really look for in an ad, just assume there would be a working one. We were informed on our way to the cabin the air conditioning unit broke, and they installed window air conditioners. They were installed but cheap 1/8 inch foam was taped on the windows. Because of how terrible the job was installing We had bees, wasps and all kind of bugs inside of cabin due to the poor insulation around the window air, we had to put paper towels to fill in the gaps, the musty smell in the bedroom due to the dirty AC filter and mold inside the air conditioner unit in the bedroom.the area where hot tub is in appears to be a garbage dump with broken fences, metal laying around, stuff thrown over there and unpleasant to look at. List goes on. We took pictures of all the things listed above. The only reason we stayed was because it was only going to be 3 nights, we would've left if it was a week.

We were very disappointed about this cabin. The pictures on line looked picturesque perfect, but were deceiving. The cabin was dirty, full of dead and live bugs throughout. There was mice dropping in the kitchen drawers and bedroom dressers, mold thru out the bathroom and washer. The yard was not inviting at all and looked like a hayfield. There was sheets of tin and boards laying around, a tree by the cabin had partially blown down and was still laying there. The hot tub was sitting in the grass with unkept trees and shrubs closing it in, not sure why it wasn’t on the cement patio. The grill had no propane. Management kept trying to nickel and dime us by offering 35 more to check in early, bring firewood and a 25% discount to stay another night. If it wasn’t for hiking all day and the cost we would have found another place to stay. All of us did have severe congestion after a few days of staying there, which I’m guess came from all the mold. This cabin should not be rentable without major modifications.

Ursa Major was very nice and matched our expectations. The two bedrooms have cute decor. We enjoyed the porch, fire ring, and hot tub. Plenty of room outside. Kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and dishes.

Loved the style of this place! Kitchen and living area especially - and the high ceilings make it feel bigger than it is. Bed was comfortable and the sofa was nice to relax in as well. Perfect location for where we wanted to hike.

The cabin was lovely - a nice mix of rustic and modern. Clean and a good location for activities. The host was readily available and easy to work with. The hot tub was wonderful on cool nights . The only thing I would say otherwise is the couch is a bit small- 2 adults really couldn’t lay on it comfortably. Would definitely stay again !

Very clean and nice cabin. The hot tub was super nice after a long day of hiking even if it was outside in the chill air. Very quiet area. High quality kitchenware. Loved that you can control the temp in each bedroom and living room separately. Beware that the area is very dark at night. Pay attention to their directions. There is no TV -- seen some kind of small TV in the closet. The wifi signal is not too strong. There is no microwave or toaster which we believe is needed. You do not need 4-wheel drive to get to the cabin -- just make sure you park on the gravel and not get stuck in the mud like we did. We love the area and will be back again.

We loved our stay at Ursa Major. The cabin is in a great location and a lovely setting, especially for autumn colors. The design and decor are thoughtful and the cabin is well-appointed for guest comfort and convenience. The large side patio with sliding door access to both bedrooms is a nice design. The large outdoor table even expands for large groups. We made use of the barbecue grill, fire pit, and hot tub. We slept like babies in the peaceful setting and comfortable bed. We enjoyed ourselves so much on this recharge/R&R trip that we plan a repeat next October!

In an area of country-themed, wood-walled cabins, finding an updated, pet-friendly home with nice views plus privacy is a find. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

My husband, myself, and our dog stayed here for a weekend of hiking in Red River Gorge. The location is pretty close to all of the trails we hiked and the house itself was perfect for coming back at night to relax.

I've stayed in RRG a lot over the last two years and this was one of my favorite rentals. The location put me in a great place for accessing all of my favorite hiking spots in 35 minutes or less and right to town for dinners after a long day while at the same time delivering on all of my cabin needs- true dark, crickets, peace, and a good fire pit! The cabin is really well decorated, beds are comfy, and the cozy level was high. Heads up to parents with little kids: my toddler found a mouse trap in a cabinet I thought I'd checked and came SO close to catching her finger in it. Check spaces before little hands explore because ouch! That would've been a terrible start to the trip. I would absolutely rent here again. We loved it. PS hot tub was super clean and the bath was a welcome gift after big hiking!
