Rented this cabin for my son and myself for a weekend getaway. I wanted something close to cities as I didn’t want to spend hours driving since we were only going for a weekend. First, loved the cabin! It reminds me of the family cabin I spent my summers at. Cute, quaint, and comfy! The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. Joel was great with communication. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
The lake awesome, the patio/fire pit areas great, the 'man-cave cabin' not so much. Dirty & pieced together carpeting. When was the last time the ovens were cleaned (certainly eons ago)? Bed mattresses, please, please replace. AND single-ply toilet paper - not good... Since we were in area for fall foliage, we weren't there alot. But will never rent again. Redeeming feature was sitting outside under the beautiful Hunter moon.
We loved fires by the lake and dinner on the deck while watching the sun set. The weekend we stayed was mostly quiet but the owners are right is advising that sound travels easily around the lake. The small, modestly furnished cabin, which has vintage/well loved everything, was clean and comfortable. Just an hour from Minneapolis!
the only things i would say is that he needs to put new screens on the doors and update the pillows. There were also ants. it was a convenient place for family to meet and dock the boat. nice outside area to eat and visit
Ants in kitchen. Dirty soap containers, etc. bathroom sink drain was clogged. Front door screen we kept stalling out. Nice property outside, although no water toys available. This classic fishing cabin will be a wonderful property when the owner his able to fine-tune it.
Great stay - thank you!
The house has some minor issues you’d expect from an older lakeside place, but the location and situation on the lake are great. The owner was very friendly and attentive.
This cabin is so cozy with a beautiful breeze coming through the windows from the lake. Even on hot days, there was a breeze. There is A/C but we only used it one day. The property is beautiful, with a very nice patio that overlooks the lake. If we weren't in our boat, we were enjoying lake watching on this patio. The cabin is fully furnished for all your cooking needs, as well as a gas grill, which we used a couple times. The cabin is decorated in rustic cabin theme, which gave us exactly the up north vibe we were looking for. All in all, we thought this to be a wonderful VRBO rental, for the price, and we have rented VRBO many times. The description of the property and cabin is accurate and Joel is nice, friendly and easy to work with. We would stay here again without doubt. Ample bedding, blankets, pillows, towels and everything you'd need for the kitchen.
Beautiful place on the lake close to town!
Lake cabin getaway, no frills as advertised. Fortunately it wasn’t very warm, otherwise would have had issues inside with flies/mosquitoes if we left the front/back doors open for the breeze (screens very much in need of repair). Not especially suitable for very young children, but we were able to make it work with a few on the spot modifications with our 1yo (ie; tying the kitchen sink cabinet handles together to keep our son from getting at cleaning products). Had everything else we could have needed for mealtime prep, including cooking spray for the pancakes we made one morning as well as plenty of cooking supplies and counter appliances. If you’re not used to iron-tasting well water, then would recommended buying a gallon+ of water for your stay at a (convenience/grocery about 10 min away by car). Had a nice deck dinner at The Hitching Post restaurant one evening (5 min drive); was able to keep our dog on a leash outside near where we sat on the deck to eat.
