Stayed Dec 12, 2025The cabin was beautiful, spacious and had everything we needed. We went with our two daughters, their spouses and our four granddaughters. We had plenty of room. Everyone enjoyed making smores around the firepit and sitting in the rocking chairs on the porches. The hot tub was also very nice. There were lots of board games we enjoyed also. The only downside was the drive to the cabin. The weather was beautiful and dry for our stay, but I would not want to make the drive in snow or rain.

Stayed Nov 26, 2025Changes and altitude is a wonderful cabin. Very comfortable with all amenities. Was great for a family gathering. Close to Bryson City and areas around but quiet mountain area. The host provided all the information we needed and instructions and quickly answered any questions. Would highly recommend this for family and friends.

Stayed May 24, 2025Beautiful location and the cabin was very nice from the cleanliness to the floor plan. We will be staying here again. Lots of room and the wrap around porch with the bear gates makes it easy to enjoy the outside views even when it's raining.

Stayed Apr 7, 2025We loved Changes in Altitude! Our family gathering of senior-aged siblings and spouses enjoyed the hot tub, mountain walks, and the campfire. Having 4.5 bathrooms was a big plus as well. The kitchen was well-equipped, and we all enjoyed the openness of this beautiful home.

Stayed Apr 4, 2025We did a long girls weekend getaway and Changes in Altitude was more than perfect. It was clean, spacious and provided everything we needed. It was close enough to everything we wanted to do. We went hiking, shopped and ate at some really good restaurants/cafes around Bryson City. We enjoyed the hot tub after a long hike. We cooked hotdogs outside on the firepit and really enjoyed the wrap-around porch. I liked that the tv was located upstairs in the loft. It did not distract those that wanted to enjoy a book or some quiet time by the fire downstairs. We loved that everyone had their own bathroom. My only complaint was the mattresses were rather stiff for my taste. The views were breathtaking! The cabin was located near the top of the mountain and provided spectacular views. It was nice to sit on the porch and enjoy coffee every morning. Will definitely be back!!!

Stayed May 27, 2024If you are looking for a secluded cabin high up in the mountains, this is a perfect place to stay. Getting to the cabin is a bit challenging…the drive on the very narrow winding steep road is quite challenging, especially at night (our stay included a performance of “Unto These Hills” in Cherokee and required us to return to the cabin rather late in the evening). There were 3 couples in our party, and the layout of the cabin lended itself very well to accommodating us all with its three bedrooms with private baths. Also, the kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, glasses, and cooking pots, pans, and utensils. Our biggest complaint (hence the 3-star overall rating) is in that, when paying such a large fee for cleaning serves, the cabin was, at best, only “spot cleaned” when we arrived. Cobwebs hung from light fixtures, the table was so sticky, we had to pull off the table runner and placemats and wash everything down in order to use it. There were other things we noticed as well, mostly small issues; however, when paying a rather large amount to have a place cleaned by a professional service, you expect a better outcome than we found. That being said, we did have a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. FYI….be aware that there is a massive poison ivy vine on the tree directly in front of the porch area.
