Green Valley Lake, California
Green Valley Lake Escape
The “Hidden Gem” of the San Bernardino Mountains, Green Valley Lake is, at 7000´, a higher resort community than either Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear. This “best kept secret on the mountain” is secluded (nearly four miles away from State Highway 18), and surrounded by National Forest. For all these reasons it has remained small, picturesque, and uncrowded.
Green Valley Lake is a lively small town. It boasts of a pretty little lake that is stocked often with plentiful fish, and a small beach for swimming and our house is within walking distance to the lake and town.
The Green Valley Lake Log Cabin is loaded with all the features of your dream mountain home and has 3 Bedrooms and 1.5 Baths.
Our family owns the cabin and visits often. We've decided to share the use of our cabin and invite you to enjoy our wonderful escape.

Green Valley Lake
One thing that cannot be said about Green Valley Lake is that there is nothing to do here. We may not have mega-shopping malls, but we do have plenty of fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking. At the community Sports Court, there is volleyball, basketball, tennis, & badminton. There are barbecue facilities in the picnic area. The community has a 40-space Forest Service campground and a museum full of fascinating artifacts. Local musicians get together for jams every month at the Lake Inn. There are three Artisan Tours throughout the year where folks can check out what the local artists have been busily creating. In the summer there's a 4th of July Family Fun Day ; Barbecue, and on Labor Day weekend a Water Carnival. Green Valley Lake packs a whole lot of family fun into a small place

A group of friends and I stayed at this cabin early October and had the best time!!!! Such a lovely charming little cabin in a quite neighborhood. Exactly what we wanted. I was looking for places in big bear/ arrowhead for a while but turned off by how crowded it seemed. I had never heard of green valley lake so was hesitant but seemed to be away from the crowd and it was!! The lake had a few people but no where near the crowd at big bear and arrowhead. The lake was also so beautiful and had so much fun fishing. The night was cold so the hot tub was a great addition, warmed up in the day just enough to enjoy the lake. We went to mindshaft coaster which was about 20-30 minutes away and was such a blast. Highly recommend. To all the negative reviews about cleanliness or being outdated , ignore them if you are looking for a cute cabin away from everyone. The cabin was clean and yes old but it adds to the charm. If you want a fancy cabin stay in a hotel… we were laughing about the negative reviews the whole time , blew my mind how anyone could give this place a bad review. We want to come back in the summer and the snow, we all loved it!!!! Thank you!
This place was quiet and comfortable. Not as many amenities as other cabins, ie., a microwave even though the specs say there was one. Would like to have known that the water from the cabin had a known contaminate. No mention of this in the cabin description or communication from the owner after we had sent in our deposit. Found our by reading the owners’ manual after we arrived. Only one jet in the jacuzzi was working. The door to the jacuzzi room non functional and difficult to get in and out of. The upstairs shower constantly had a steady steam of water coming from the shower head. The cabin itself has a beautiful rustic feel. It just needs upkeep and maintenance For these reasons, we could not give it 5 stars. If the above issues were addressed, we would consider staying there again.
This is an ADORABLE little cabin in a great area. We had a lovely time, though had to laugh because if it could break, it did. The cabin itself is awesome, but it lacks a lot of attention. The couches and bedding were torn, the pots and pans were damaged, even falling apart while using them. The oven light fell off into our food and stove/oven needed to be cleaned. This cabin has the potential to be an incredible place to stay, though it is past due for some updates/fixes. The owner was very kind and offered to fix some of the immediate issues while we were there (due to covid we declined) but there are other issues (such as broken screens on most of the windows, loose or damaged furniture that needs to be replaced etc) that simply need to be fixed/changed out. Overall with some attention this would easily be a 5 star place to stay!
The pros: * Could be cozy if maintained well The cons: * The posting on Vrbo says it’s a 4 bedroom house, but in fact it’s a 3 bedroom one! We got lucky our kids agreed to share one! * The was supposed to be a grill available, but there was no propane left and no spare propane tank. According to locals propane shortage has been going for 3 months. The host didn't bother to let us know prior to our arrival, so we brought a lot of food for grill. * The kitchen sink was clogged for most of our stay. The host was informed, but the issue was fixed on the last day of our stay (not counting the checkout day). We learned that this issue is happening on a regular cadence. * The house wasn’t cleaned well enough - spider web in some corners, the windows in TV corner are simply covered with dust, meaning it wasn’t cleaned at all for quite some (not cool during COVID-19 especially) * Restroom door does not have a lock and simply broken. To move it (it's a pocket door) you literally need to lift it off the ground a bit. * Hot tub shed's window and doors are broken and there there is a sizable puddle inside right at the entrance. Seeing all that we didn't feel like going in the tub at all! * Fireplace was not cleaned and was full with ache. I had to clean it up before I could put some wood in there. * The 2 level bed was so shaky that we didn’t think it was safe for our kid to sleep on the top level * The shower was leaking * Lots of other minor things that are not worth mentioning here, but given the amount of issues they add up to the experience. When we discovered these issues, we asked the host for the discount for our stay. The host refused and concluded that our experience was worth what we pay. Can't disagree more. The absence of any maintenance of the property and incorrect information about the property made our stay unpleasant! Definitely one of our worst experiences so far.
A very relaxing getaway, something we all need these days. The place has plenty of room, with comfortable couches, nice dining area and large kitchen. The are big rooms with comfortable beds. Having one bathroom wasn't a problem, though they were only three of us. Neighborhood is extremely quiet. Two porches were nice (especially sitting out front in the evening). Going there during the week was perfect. The small town was deserted. The lake is about a 15-minute walk. Hot tub for cocktail hour (using plastic glasses) was great way to end a day of hiking. A terrific place for a break from the insanity that has infected the world. The one concern was the walkway leading from the car to front door. It takes sure-footing. The only issue (and it's a small one) is there you are requried to buy insurance (about $60). Not a problem, but we didn't discover this until well into reservation process. Owner/manager should list this upfront. Again, not a deal breaker. We'd would stay there again, and probably will.
This home and GVL are great if you looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life or in our case, a change of scenery due to Covid 19. The home has everything you need. It is an easy (less than 1/2 mile) walk to small town and lake. The town is following cdc guidelines for the virus. Social distancing and masks are required as of 08/09/20.
Our family was able to relax and enjoy ourselves in this beautiful cabin. Plenty of open space to share. The porch was a favorite hang out. Big comfy sectional sofa too. Spacious kitchen to do our cooking.
This beautiful little cabin was exactly what my team needed to finish up some screenplays for deadline. We had some minor issues with front door lock that the cabin owner quickly resolved - they were incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. Definitely bring toilet paper/soap/trash bags. Great place to make some art and relax for a few days. Very happy with our stay!
Overall, great experience. Cabin was just as cozy as we remembered from our last experience.
I rented the cabin for Father's day weekend as my uncle lives in Green Valley Lake and we have a big family get together every year for father's day.. There were 8 of us, and there was plenty of space. It had everything we needed including the jacuzzi which we thoroughly enjoyed. It's a great little cabin that I would rent again. I had one issue with the TV and called the owner who was quick to get back to me..
