Dog-friendly Arrowhead Villas cottage with deck, fireplace & W/D- great locale

Quiet neighborhood, responsive management, safe and cozy stay!

Home was spacious but definitely needed a better cleaning job. I’m not usually too picky, but the cleaners clearly did a rush job. There were many stains on sheets/pillows/comforters, two of the beds had hair and crumbs on the sheets and we needed to wash them before sleeping, it was gross. When looking for bedding for the trundle bed, I found a linen closet full of dirty and stained bedding shoved inside, some was even wet - all was unusable until we ran the laundry. There were plenty of dishes but only 4 adult forks and 1 baby fork in the house, so we bought some plastic ones and left the extras for the next guests. Kitchen was clean but some of the floors and stairs were dirty, under beds/couches we found trash. The kitchen sink had hot water, but both showers barely got warm. There is a path behind the house for a 10-minute walk to the Village, but it’s steep and more of a hike - we enjoyed it but it’s not for strollers or non-hikers. Overall it was nice to have plenty of bedrooms for our group, and we enjoyed the location, but I can’t recommend based on the dirty bedding and cold showers.

Overall, the home is nice with updated appliances. This house does not have A/C…not good during the summer. The cold water was hot.

Dirty, stained, uncomfortable furniture. Living room seats 4- for a 4 bedroom house. Christmas pillows out in April. 7 forks total for a 4 bedroom house that sleeps 8. No serving platters and hardly any pans. Microwave door only opens halfway due to an installation issue. “Deck” is 24 inches wide and barely big enough for one chair. No spices. Laminate flooring peeling in dining room. Table seats 4 for a 4 bedroom house.

If you are looking for hot water in your winter vacation rental, move on to another listing. We were shocked to find out that there was no hot water at the property when we arrived. We called to complain and the management company told us that the listing did not include hot water as an amenity. I am a housing rights attorney and informed them it was illegal in California to offer a dwelling unit without access to hot water. Only then did they say they would send someone out to check on the situation. The plumber came the next day (which we had to take time out of our holiday to facilitate) and turned the hot water on, but it still did not work in any of the bath/showers. So for our entire trip, we had no hot water in any bath/shower. Our 12 year old nephew and 2 year old daughter had to have baths in the kitchen sink. Meanwhile, we spent hours trying to address this issue with the management company who kept us on hold for up to 40 minutes at a time. After the third day without hot water in the bath/showers and with no adequate response from the management company, we had enough and decided to end our stay a day early. It’s been two weeks and I’ve been seeking a reasonable refund for our experience. When they aren't outright ignoring me, they only offered a meager amount for a refund. The total cost I paid was enormous and absurd for a home that did not meet a habitability requirement. I would never recommend this rental to anyone.

The interior of the home was modern and very clean. Furnishings were nice. The home is up several steep roads which wasn’t a problem for us in dry conditions but if it had snowed or if there was ice, It would be challenge to get to the home. We could have used more blankets because the house was cold but the heater and electric fireplace worked well. We also would suggest more lightning especially the hallways and stairs - there are a lot of floors in this house so be prepared to go up and down stairs. We loved all the balconies and the view at the back of the house. Parking was great. The neighbors were friendly towards us.
