Ruidoso, New Mexico
1 Bed/1 Bath (with shower) | Maximum Guests: 2 |
This romantic studio cabin is the perfect retreat for two! Completely remodeled in 2022, Cubby is an adorable, cozy hideaway with a full compact kitchen, mini-fridge, bathroom with custom rain shower and a king size bed. There is a front porch with a gas grill and a place to sit and enjoy the scenery or gaze up at the stars in the private hot tub out front. Located in the Upper Canyon, just a short walk from the Rio Ruidoso, Cubby is the perfect spot to cuddle up and relax during your Ruidoso stay. Cubby is one of 6 original cabins, built in the 1940's that helped to start Ruidoso as a village. These 6 cabins were a logging camp, built by loggers, to house seasonal workers. Wildlife is never far away… here you will see deer, turkey, elk, and in the warmer months, you may even see a black bear!
Amenities: King Bed, Full Compact Kitchen with Mini-fridge, Deck with Gas Grill, Private Hot tub, Gas Fireplace, One Bathroom with Custom Shower, Wi-Fi, Split Unit Air Conditioner, Streaming Capabilities, DVD Player, Pet Friendly (with additional fee)
For the persons stated the bed was hard a rock, they fixed that problem Omg it was so soft, you just kind of melt into it. Only negative thing would just be put some bricks from the hot tub to side walk . This way you don’t have to step in dirt after you get out.
It's in a really beautiful location. You would expect that there would be a measure of respect for folks that come here to the mountains, to get away from the noise and bustle of every day life. But that wasn't the case, and it was deeply disappointing. The staff in the laundry room (which is directly across from The Cubby Cabin) played their music at a loud volume. I woke up to loud, disruptive music two out of the three mornings that we stayed there That's not something you would expect, for a somewhat pricey vacation getaway spot I had to complain to the owner twice. Not only was the music an issue but the staff carried out loud phone conversations, and shouted back and forth at one another. For the price we payed, that level of disrespect and disruption was truly unexpected. Also the guests staying in the cabin up from us were playing their music very loudly, late into the night. It all seems badly managed. Also, we payed a $70 pet fee. Non refundable. Which was fine and totally understandable. But both the front and back doors are so worn out that they wouldn't remain latched unless locked with the deadbolt. Our cats almost got out multiple times when we were sitting on the porch. The doors appear to be very old and worn out, along with the locks. I can't speak for the other cabins on the property, some of which looked really nice from the outside - but if you're looking for peace and relaxation then I wouldn't recommend it. Really a truly disappointing experience.
This is the fifth place we have stayed at. We come to Ruidoso quite often. It was a nice cabin. The kitchen is outdated. The hot tub was nice ( why we chose this place) but not very private. Very small bathroom. Came with a grill but on a very small patio. Not a bad place at all however, the value for the dollar isn’t there. At a $140, there are much nicer options around town. The night before we stayed at another place for $90 and it was amazing.
Love the scenery. Pleased with the kitchen. Love the hottub. Could be a bit more private. Doors need work. But overall loved the cute cabin experiecne.
This place was really nice! It was clean, had a small kitchen with everything you need, a comfortable bed and was recently remodeled. We'd definitely stay here again.
Great place to rent
Perfect.. Relaxing!!
Pretty nice experience
Being military and the fast passed lifestyle this was a perfect relaxation. The managers were extremely friendly and always answered questions promptly. I will say the pictures don’t do this place justice. They have made some very great upgrades to this property.
Everything was good only dissapointment was the hot tub wasn’t private like it was described and the shower window didn’t have a curtain so you could see though but over all was a great place
just needed a little weekend getaway that i could bring my dogs with me to. This was such a nice place. It has been remodeled and is super comfortable, we slept through a winter storm and woke up to staff cleaning the outside space to make it safer to travel in and out of camp. The snow made the area even more beautiful. The host were very communicative and helpful throughout the entire process.
Excellent romantic cabin for two. New renovation made better use of space. Better experience than the old pics for cubby cabin. Highly recommend
Nice and comfy little cabin. Very relaxing.
Great cabin. Not fancy but had all the needs for a fun and short getaway.
Cabin was over priced, after booking I looked online and found better cabins for half the price. The cabin it self needs updates the toilet is impossible to use with out putting your feet in the shower and squatting due to it being to small and low to the ground. The cabin had chipped pain and cob webs throughout.
The Good- The bed is large, comfortable, and sturdy. Sheets and towels were fresh and clean. There’s a wood stove, which is cozy. We didn’t use it, as it was summer, but nice to know we could. The price was lower than average. It gave my wife and me a place to rest and relax and have access to the mountains. The Not-So-Good: The ceiling is about 6 ft 7 in, and all doorways are 6 ft. There was no mention of this in the description on VRBO. As 6’5” man it would have been good to know. I tired hard to duck all weekend, but still ended up with a sore, scabbed head. The entire cabin village appears to have been built and repaired by 2nd graders. My wife and I got much comic relief from observing the craftsmanship throughout. Parking is tight. We were in a full-sized pickup with bike rack on back. Like a whale in a sardine can! The cabins are all built pretty much right on top of one another with little outdoor privacy or personal space. The staff talked loudly and used profanity in the laundry building a mere 15 or 20 feet away from our door. The entrance to Mountain Air Cabins looks pretty sketch compared to surrounding properties, with old building materials and seasonal equipment laying about, a cluttered office front porch, etc. Overall, we are positive-minded folks and had a great time, but wouldn’t likely stay here a second time.
Once we got a/c it was nice.
Poor maintenance of this cabin. Not clean. Will not return to this cabin.
