This place has a lot of potential to be an incredible vacation stay. However, there are glaring negatives that need to be addressed by management before renting: The good: -Incredible view was absolutely breathtaking. We spent hours watching the sunset each night. -Close proximity to the lake The bad: -We tried going in the jacuzzi the second night only to see yellowish brown water that reeked of sewage. Water level easily a foot too low. Likely hasn't been cleaned in months, but was listed as usable. No mention from Evolve. This is false advertisement. -Cleaning was poor. Dead fly in the living room floor, streaks of brown in the living room, makeup stains on hand towels, cigarette butt on the deck, dirty bath mats, trash on the floor, etc. Interesting that the cleaning fee is almost 200, but cabin is not clean. Hand soap was depleted and watered down. You also need to strip linens yourself, which feels bad given the high cleaning fee. -Evolve emailed a few days before saying AC unit was out, on the hottest weekend of the year. Not only was it functional, but windows were left open on the top floor with the AC blasting when we arrived. Such terrible property management. AC left on had mildew smell and needs servicing ASAP. -Overall the furniture is cheap and what you would expect from your first college apartment. The futon in the living room is just a couch that will fall over if you shift your weight ever so slightly. Just why? -Good luck dicephering the shower water temperature puzzle. Overall, do not be bamboozled by the amazing photos. The thin vaneer of style and class is hiding poor management, budget furnishings, and lack of attention to detail that you would expect at this price point. We would love to see this place shine with these issues fixed in the future.
The house was nicely redone, has a decent amount of space, hot tub gazebo out back was very well set up & comfortable. Unfortunately, the AC unit broke on our first night causing the most uncomfortable stay I've ever experienced. We came back from the lake on Saturday late afternoon to find that the entire house was stuffy & upwards of 87 degrees inside. We immediately opened all windows attempting to get some kind of draft, but the setup of the home made the draft so minimal we could not get comfortable. It was also 80 degrees outside so not much relief could come from opening the windows anyway. The door from the kitchen to the outside patio also did not have a screen so we had to let mosquitos in the house to have some kind of air flow. I called the Evolve contact number right away, but was told I was not allowed to get directly in touch with the owner & the owner would call me from a blocked number. The owner called me over an hour later, & at that point we were all sitting outside, sweating, uncomfortable, dreading going inside the house even to use the restroom. The owner kept telling me he did not do this on purpose, which was odd, because the expectation is you make sure guests are comfortable - nobody thought this was malicious, but he did neglect our comfort and safety by not testing out his brand new AC unit before guests arrived. No fans, either. After hours of waiting, & having me shut off & restart the AC unit, to no avail, the owner admitted we needed a technician. The owner told me that the AC tech could not arrive until the next morning at 9:30am. We had to leave the house for most of the evening and late into the night to seek some kind of relief. The next morning, the owner called me - again, blocked - to let me know the AC tech is on his way. At this point, none of us could stay comfortably in the house and there was no relief. The AC tech did not arrive until 10:30am and told us the unit froze, & is too big of a machine for where it's installed. I ended up having to go into my car in the driveway to sit in the AC in my car. We missed our second day at the lake because I had such a horrible migraine from the stuffy heat. The upstairs area has two tiny floor vents, so even after the AC was fixed the entire group of us avoided the upstairs (kitchen) at all costs the rest of our stay. With other vacation booking companies I've always been able to call the owner directly when there is a problem. Horrible experience and no refund.
