We had a great weekend here!
The house was nice. It really needs a good cleaning - everywhere. There was an issue with the well water. There wasn't even enough water to brush your teeth. Showers? Next to impossible.... and don't flush while someone's in the shower! Then, there's NO water at all in there for a bit. The pressure was low, at best. The contact person, although prompt with correspondence, didn't do anything to solve the problem. After three days I spoke with the property owner, only to find out he's had an issue with the well, thinking it was fixed, but surely it is not. With such an issue, we expected someone to show up at the door to check this out and hopefully get it resolved - that never happened. Having family in town for a family wedding and not feeling like we could comfortably shower for the events was extremely frustrating at best.
Enjoyed our stay at this cabin after getting rained out from a backpacking weekend!
A nice cabin a little out of the way from Charlottesville. The common areas of the home are clean and well kept. The upstairs however has a bug problem. Numerous stink bugs in every room of the upstairs (bedrooms and bathrooms). Also, not noted in the description of the premise: the basement of the cabin is an apartment that is in use and there are 10 PM quiet hours. We were only made aware of this upon entering the home and reading the welcome board. While we had no problems with the tenants and were in no way unruly after the time mentioned it should definitely be mentioned in the description.
It is an absolutely beautiful home—quite isolated. After many communications, we finally got to the property manager who allowed us to checkin one hour early! We had to request gas for the outdoor grill and firewood. Neither were present. The refrigerator had not been cleaned, there was a sock in the bed, a dirty towel in the bathroom, and a bug infestation(one came home in my shoe?). All four of us are over seventy and the very tippy walking stones are an accident waiting to happen. Today they were also very slippery because of yesterdays rain. There was also a cat hanging out on our porch and car and a barking dog belonging to one of the renters. After all that, the home was very comfortable with a very well stocked kitchen—loved the matching silverware and dishes without chips. Also thought Christmas tree was great. When we finally connected, Natalie was very attentive. C Hutchins
