We started rented the cabin in 2018 and we already have families renting with us for the second and third time. The cabin is nesteled in Swiss Village East, a wooded, picturesque community with the Cedar River, a blue ribbon trout stream, just a short walk down the road. Skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing are 5 minutes away at Schuss Mountain, and shopping, dining, and entertainment can be found in downtown Bellaire, a quick 10-minute drive.

Shanty Creek includes two other golf courses, not to mention the nearby Chief and Hawks' Eye. Grand Traverse Resort and Boyne Mountain golf courses are just 30 minutes away. At least 20 courses are within 45 minutes.
SKIING- Shanty Creek is constantly improving its downhill skiing, cross country, snowboarding and tubing offerings. Or take the short drive to Boyne Mountain. You can cross-country right out your door, but watch out – the White Pine Stampede may be coming down the trail!
BOATING- Cano
CANOEING- Try the Jordan River, just 20 minutes away. Take it all the way down to beautiful Lake Charlevoix. Or head down to Grayling and try the Au Sable or Manistee.
HIKING, CAMPING, and SNOWMOBILING- Take advantage of over 40,000 acres of public lands some of which is immediately adjacent to Swiss Village East. You can't beat the natural beauty of Grass River Natural Area, Glacial Hills, and the Cedar River Natural Area.
FISHING- You just can't beat the rainbow trout found in our very own Cedar River. Or try any of the area lakes.
FOOD- From some of Michigan's most elegant dining (Ellsworth's Rowe Inn) to fast food (McDonald's) to informal Chinese, you'll find it all.
NATURE- Deer, wild turkey, fish, birds, and fox abound. Try hunting for morel mushrooms!

Nearby Towns - Visit Charlevoix (30 min.), Traverse City (45 min.), Petoskey (45 min.), and Mackinac City (90 minutes).
Unfortunately, there is no hunting allowed on our property and this home is not meant to be used as Deer Camp.
We loved the size of the house. It was bigger than other places we have stayed. The kitchen and large dining area was especially nice.
This cabin was really nice, they offered a ton of little amenities like river tubes and a canoe. It was clean a quaint but spacious. The beds were very comfortable and it's a very short drive to torch or a local store.
This is our second year staying at this property. The home is located in a great area in northern Michigan and offers everything you need for a great stay. We have stayed at other properties in the area that lack a lot of common household items where this one makes you feel just like your at home. In addition we have always had great support when we had any questions. A couple days on torch lake, a day at Mackinaw Island, kayaking on the rivers and a day in Traverse City, the home is in a great location to hit all the places you want for your vacation!
This property is beautiful and meticulously maintained! We were wowed the moment we walked in. Reasonable distance from many beautiful places. We had a great time and would absolutely stay here again. The ONLY thing I would suggest is mirrors in the bedrooms! We are a family with three teenage daughters and having extra mirrors would’ve made getting ready easier!
We had a wonderful stay. It’s a lovely cabin (with friendly owners) tucked away but still close to things to do. We were able to go to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Petoskey area. The board games are perfect for late night fun and the beds are super comfortable. My daughter enjoyed climbing the ladder to the loft. We will definitely be back!
Great cozy cabin right by Shanty Creek. Quick trip to town and grocery store. Would definitely stay here again - absolutely loved it.
We had a fabulous time in this cabin and exploring Northern Michigan! Cabin: We cannot say enough great things about Derrick and his magical cabin. As soon as we walked in, our breath was taken away. It is a modern rustic cabin with high ceilings and modern fixtures. The decor is so warm and welcoming and it has everything you need for a worry free stay. He provides all the supplies like paper towels, toilet paper, snacks, etc. The beds are so comfortable and were great to jump into after a long day of exploring. We also loved the area where the cabin was located in the Schuss Mountains. It was so nice to wake up in the morning and go outside and see turkeys and deer. Derrick is such a responsive and helpful host. He answered all our questions in detail about the surrounding area. Area: This was our first time in Michigan and it was beyond beautiful. Sleeping Bear National Park is absolutely amazing. You can hike or just spend time on one of its magical beaches. Platt Point River point is an amazing beach. Derrick recommended we go to Glen Beach when we were in Sleeping Bear Dunes and I am so glad we listened. The water is crystal clear and blue. We were able to find a place to swim in it and it was amazing! Torch Lake was definitely an experience. It is so crystal clear and the sandbar was interesting. We rented a pontoon in Bellaire and boated for an hour to it. It was a great experience. We also loved Traverse City and Bryant Park Beach. The water in the Grand Traverse Bay is so beautiful. There is also a great wine trail in Old Peninsula Mission and at the end of the wineries is a beautiful state park. We did not get a chance to go to Mackinac Island but we did go to Mackinaw City. There is a beautiful park where you can see the bridge and the Straits of Mackinac. The water is crystal clear and you can go in it. My children loved seeing where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. We spent many summers in Canada on Sauble Beach so they loved seeing two of their favorite lakes meeting! There is a cute town in Mackinaw with shops, wineries, bars and music. You can also drive over the bridge and go to a town called St. Ignace. We ate dinner here at a restaurant right on the water. We really had an incredible stay and our only complaint is that we couldn't spend more time in this magical cabin exploring more of Northern Michigan. Derrick and family, thank you so much for making our stay so incredible!
Fun times! Adorable cabin! Loved it!
This property was well maintained, clean and cozy. We had a great time and was plenty of room for 6 adults.
This property was a perfect fit for our family of 6. The cabin is very new, beautifully decorated and clean. The amenities are everything a family needs to enjoy a stress free vacation. The listing was very accurate, no surprises in any negative way. The fire pit was icing on the cake as well as knowing we had access to a grill. The location is close to downtown Bellaire with its cute shops and restaurants. We took day trips to old mission peninsula, Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City. The property manager, Derrick, was very responsive and timely in-every communication and was very helpful.
Just right for our family getaway! Close to torch lake and everything else we wanted to do/see!
The cabin is quiet and secluded, yet cost to town. Everything a guest can want or wish for is there. Highly recommend for family's or 2 couples to get away!
Great place to stay. Plenty of comfortable beds. We had 6 adults and had more than enough room. Mattresses and pillows were fantastic. Great to have a dishwasher too. Very relaxing!
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. Derrick was great to deal with and quick to respond to any questions I had. The cabin is beautiful and was immaculate upon our arrival. The owners thought of everything. It was perfect for our family of 5 - my youngest son loved the loft area! It was a great location for trips to Torch Lake, Mackinac Island, Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City. We also made a day trip of going to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved all of our adventures and being able to come back to this cozy cabin every evening. Would definitely stay again!
The cabin is very nice. The pictures on the site don't do it justice. Very spacious. Comfortable beds - nice and firm. Lots of condiments, snacks, etc. provided. Great walking in the area. Derrick is very easy to communicate with and answers any questions very quickly.
