Waking up every morning to the sound of the water on the rocks, drinking coffee on the deck as the fog was lifting; it was truly everything I had hoped this location would provide. There was no road noise, sounds of aircraft, it was worth every penny.
Great communication and staff on property if you need anything
Good
We were looking to get out in nature and unplug in this property is absolutely perfect for that. Be ready for your cell phone not to work and there is no Wi-Fi or air-conditioning. But overall the property is very clean and we had a great time.
A cool cabin hidden deep in the woods, this place was a perfect place to relax and be in nature. There is a beautiful view overlooking the river. If the kids are coming, bring plenty of activities. We brought several games and some toys, which was perfect because there aren’t any of those things in the cabin. The cabin has a well, septic, and electricity, and thankfully it has no internet, no tv, and poor cell reception so we were totally unplugged. It was light on pillows, so you might want to bring some of your own. Also, add coffee, condiments, and cooking oil to your grocery list. There are plenty of cooking utensils, pots and pans, and dishes, but no consumables. Overall, it was a wonderful, relaxing stay!
Quit and peaceful very relaxing
We really enjoyed our stay in Baldwin. This concealed cabin was perfect for the women that spent the weekend enjoying the cabin. We were close to Idlewild where we visited friends. Also we went to Jones’s Homemade Ice Cream parlor which is a wonderful place for delicious ice cream. The caretaker was very kind and we appreciate the hospitality. Great time at this property.
Outside of the view, property was not worth the money. Upon arrival, house appeared that it had not been cleaned for a week or two. Could not walk around in socks due to the amount of dirt/sand on the floor. No toilet paper or paper towel was provided until later in the evening after check in. House was dated and needs to be upgraded or price reduced.
Location was excellent. The amount of windows would have been great to enjoy the sounds and breeze except most could not open or are broken. Beds were cheap and extremely uncomfortable. The check in process was terrible. There is a caretaker who claimed he was not given names and only had cabin numbers, which we were not given, so we could not coordinate. We figured out the correct cabin based on the description on the site. We toured the property and my impression is the owner(s) have given up on making anything better and is just going through the motions until the property is sold. Would love to go back for the location, will never use that company’s cabins again.
For it to be a cabin in the woods, we didn't seem to have any bug issues. That was a pleasant surprise. It was a little warm, but the fans provided some relief. You may want to bring 1 or 2 with you just in case. It's a short, but tough trek down to the river. There is a steep decline/incline trail, but if you can manage it, you are sure to have a relaxing float in the river. It's shallow enough to be waist deep for kids. This was a nice getaway for the family.
We were three couples with kids who stayed in the cabin. Pros – Clean, very Spacious, loved the high ceilings, fantastic view of the river Cons - Upstairs room got a little hot. Glad they had provided extra fans. There was some confusion checking in. The caretaker was asking us about which cabin number we had booked since he had no information about who was coming in. Luckily, the cell signal came for a few seconds and we were able to find that information in the email. The cabin amenities mention Kayak and Canoe. But the caretaken mentioned that they are not available. Also, although the Cabin is directly facing the river, there is no direct access. We were able to rent them close by, so it all worked out well. Few points which can be pros or cons depending on what you like - No wifi and phone signal was very weak. The actual cabin was around 2 miles inward from the provided caretaker's address. This will be a major pro if you are looking to completely disconnect. The cabin next to us were blaring their music. But we could barely hear them as the cabins are so spread out. Overall we had a great time!
