Glacier, Washington
Our cabin has a large modern kitchen with slate floors, wine refrigerator, and all the amenities. The dining room table expands to seat six.
The great room/living room has a propane fireplace, smart TV with Dishnetwork, leather overstuffed couch with two matching leather chairs and ottomans.
The main bedroom is spacious with a sliding glass door out to the second story deck with a partial view of the mountains. It has its own bathroom with two vanities and slate floors. Bedroom No. 2 also has a sliding glass door onto the deck. Bedroom No. 3 is also roomy. All the beds are queen size with pillow top mattresses and high thread Pima sheets and down comforters.
The bathroom on the main floor is large with a slate floor and tub and shower.
There are two decks, one off the great room with a BBQ grill and chairs and table for meals, lounging, and enjoying the view. Stairs lead down to the fire pit area. (see below) The second deck is off the two upstairs bedrooms, also with comfy chairs to relax in and enjoy the trees all around.
Whatcom County currently does not allow open fires within 25 feet of anything burnable, including all the beautiful trees, so you would need to bring your portable propane fire pit. This applies to all the cabins in the Glacier area, and there are very few that meet the minimum setback.
We have a six person hot tub and a sauna large enough for 3 to 4.
The gated community of Snowline has a baseball field, basketball court, pickleball court, playground for the kids, and a small pond. It is a very safe community, with an on-site manager who patrols the area throughout the day and night. There are hiking trails within a short walk from the cabin. The roads in Snowline are paved and perfect for kids to ride bikes or scooters.
And we are only 15 miles from Mt. Baker Ski area!
We do everything we can to keep fast, reliable internet service, including a mesh system throughout the cabin. Technology being what it is for a cabin in the woods, occasionally the wifi will go down. There is also wifi at the Snowline Community Clubhouse, which is less than a half mile from the cabin, and at Chair 9 restaurant, also less than a half mile away.
We have a Pack-and-Play and high chair available when requested ahead of time.
We have a small apartment attached on the side of the cabin that we occasionally stay in when we have to be in Snowline. It is only used by my husband and I. We never rent it. We have our own driveway on the back of the cabin separate from the two driveways for guests, and our own entrance that is not visible from the front of the cabin. If we happen to be there, we will let the guests know, otherwise you would probably never know we are there. But if you do need anything, we are happy to help.
This property is more like a house than a Cabin. Very comfortable inside and has a lovely deck to sit on with a barbecue, a peaceful view of trees, and the top of a mountain. Well supplied for cooking with a full Kitchen. Hikes are close by, and Mount Baker has many easy and challenging hikes. Highly recommend.
Loved the cabin’s proximity to nature. Nearby waterfalls and state parks were easy to explore . Fully equipped kitchen made it possible to cook and clean up after. The in cabin washer and dryer is handy. We all enjoyed the community rec room. Boys enjoyed playing ping pong, foosball, pool, and air hockey. Area is quiet and safe.
This property has everything you could want in a home away from home. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable, and the common/ dining areas are spacious to comfortably host group meals and hang outs. SO awesome to have a sauna and hot tub available, but one of the unsung benefits are the walking trails along the river that available within a few minutes walk from the property. Plenty of storage spaces for fishing/ ski/ hiking gear. Very secure community. Central to any adventuring you want to do in the area, but also so comfortable and homey if you're looking to enjoy more of an inside cabin getaway. Sharon was in excellent communication and a very gracious host!
We stayed a week in August to hike in the Mt Baker area. The location was very convenient. The home was comfortable with a very nice deck. Kitchen was exceptionally well equipped. Good communication with the hosts. Overall a very positive experience.
great location, important amenities such as hot tub, fully furnished kitchen. Small detail need some attention such as missing coffee in the morning, or a lighter. But the whole experience was awesome.
We had a very comfy stay and enjoyed our time in Glacier, thanks.
Big Buck Lodge is a beautiful, well-equipped home about as close to Mt Baker as you can get. The home feels like a real home with fun and interesting details throughout. The kitchen is loaded with everything that you might need for a family stay. The beds are comfy, everything is clean and nice, the bathrooms are nice. The hot tub was lovely! Everything was just perfect for our family ski trip. We will be back!
Comfortable for 4 might be snug for 6. We booked here because we weren't sure if we'd have 4 or 6, and it ended up being just right for 4 (with one bedroom that we didn't use). The hot tub is listed as 6-person, but I can't imagine having more than 4 adults in there, and the sauna is 'cozy' with just 2. I'm not sure why they don't include a picture of the sauna as of our stay. The sofa and chairs in the great room are quite comfy (seats 5). The kitchen was well-stocked with pans, utensils, and the like (as others and the owner mentioned, bring your own condiments and spices). The wifi was great and the owner let us know that cell service is not great, so we were ready. The layout of the house is a little funky, which I can see now that I look back at the pictures, but didn't appreciate in advance. All three bedrooms are upstairs, and with the vaulted ceilings up there the walls only go up to about 8 feet. The rest of the way up to the ceiling is either open or glass, so if a light is on in one room it lights up all three rooms. This includes the master bath. Just something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper. Another thing to note is the creaking and clanking. It was kind of noisy. Whether that's coming from heating fixtures, the attached apartment, the fridge, or something else, it made it a little hard to sleep the first night. The second night we turned the heat down farther and that helped. It heats up quite nicely during the day. The propane fireplace was a nice touch and worked well. Overall, everything was comfortable and clean. I would stay again.
Great stay overall. Place has everything we needed and we all really enjoyed it. If I had to pick areas of improvement I found some of the steps a little confusing, like locating 6 thermostats and making sure they were set correctly when leaving. The place was very cold when we arrived and took a long time to warm up.
We had 6 people staying up here for a ski weekend. It’s in a great location if you want to ski Mt. Baker. Pros- Location, space, amenities, friendly/communicative hosts, comfortable beds Cons- Heaters are loud and hard to control- we were woken up by the creaking clicking sounds quite a bit as well as it being very hot even with the heater off. Someone had left contact lenses and a few items on the floors in various rooms when we got there- not dirty, but odd. No seasonings/oil etc basics for cooking- not necessarily a con, just something you should be aware of.
Enjoyed a nice few days of skiing while staying at this property. Comfortable living room with satellite TV (didn't see the TV instructions on the side of the fridge until later, but we figured it out) and lots of streaming channels. Gas fireplace was warm and cozy. Found everything we needed in the kitchen, but bring all the food, oils and spices you will need; we knew from previous reviews that they are not permitted to provide any to guests. Good beds. Hot tub was a big plus. Prompt response from hosts when contacted about a question. Thumbs up!
Our family enjoyed 3 nights at this cabin. Lots of space for the 4 of us plus our dog. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub after long days of hiking, snowshoeing and skiing. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was nice for cooking meals.
This is a charming cabin. Well laid out and maintained. Lots of upgraded touches, a gas fireplace, and really comfy furniture made this a relaxing retreat from the world. Great location to lots of hiking and the Mt Baker area. Close to beautiful braided rivers. I would highly recommend this property for your Mt Baker stay. Beds were very comfortable. So many personal touches made this home a wonderful place to stay.
Beautiful wooded location near Mt Baker. Comfy and plenty of room for two couples.
Such a warm, comfortable cabin. Loved the quick access to trails and streams. You are right in the perfect location to take in all the autumn beauty of Washington’s landscape. The hot tub was excellent after a day of hiking and cabin beds were perfect for a good nights rest!
This was the perfect location to explore the Mt. Baker area. Lots of hiking nearby, and the subdivision is next to a great trail on the Nooksack River. Property was extremely clean and the owner responded quickly whenever I had a question/problem (like locking myself out of the house). Would definitely stay there again.
Enjoyable, comfortable and great secure location. Kitchen very well equipped with utensils/dishes/pots & pans but zero condiments. Must bring all foods, condiments and even coffee for your stay
Wonderful place. Sharon returned emails in a very timely manner. Highly recommend staying here
