Truckee, California
This cozy ski cabin is conveniently located on Highway 89 between the well known Palisades Tahoe ski resort (formerly Squaw Valley) and Truckee. The cabin was built in 1954 before the Olympics came to Tahoe and has been upgraded to offer all the modern amenities while keeping the original pre-olympic ski cabin charm. The cabin is on a 2 acre lot with hiking trails in the backyard forest and it is surrounded by beautiful National Forest land. Guests also have direct access to the Truckee River as there is a public parking area across the road from the cabin.
Updated 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath cabin with hot tub. Gas fireplace and keyless entry. Flat screen TVs, Netflix, as well as free high speed WiFi. New furniture and linens throughout. So many kitchen utensils and appliances: Nespresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, crockpot, iron/board, etc. We even have an electric car charger on the outside of the garage that guests are welcome to use free of charge!
Great central location: 5 minutes you can be at Palisades Tahoe/Alpine Meadows, 20 minutes to Northstar or the casinos! 10 minutes to downtown Truckee. Tahoe City is also only 15 minutes away with fine dining and shopping.
Winter renters: Backcountry ski, Cross country ski or snowshoe right out the back yard into into the National Forest. Or, take a soak in the hot tub on the deck while star-gazing. Skip the ski resort traffic from Truckee if you are headed to Palisades Tahoe as the cabin is only 5 minutes down the road.
Summer renters: Take a hike on our nature trail and admire some of our large trees right in the back yard! The cabin includes a hot tub & large deck for outdoor dining & relaxation. Grab a tube and float down the Truckee River, you can rent a tube and float the slower section of the River from Tahoe City or you can purchase your own tube and float into the town of Truckee from right across the street. If you enjoy fishing the Truckee River also offers some of the best fly fishing in the area. If you are looking for a longer hike or mountain bike ride the cabin is located right down the road from some of the more popular mountain biking areas in Truckee and you can ride your bike right from the cabin to the trail. For a more leisurely bike ride we recommend renting bikes from Tahoe Daves at the Palisades entrance and taking the paved bike path down the Truckee River to Tahoe City and then down the West shore of Tahoe or over to Carnelian Bay for some great views of Lake Tahoe.
Please note during the summer months wildfire smoke can be unpredictable and winds change daily. During the winter months snow storms can come quick and change daily, disrupting travel plans. We recommend our guests purchase trip insurance that covers natural disasters such as wildfire smoke and snow storms as we are not able to accommodate refunds for last minute cancellations. There is an air purifier in the cabin if there happens to be smoke during your stay.
There is one security camera on the property that is pointed at the driveway. We use this security camera to monitor snow removal and to verify cleaners have come.
Great stay. Great location. Great host. Our one month stay was very enjoyable and we would return. Two things to note... The shower in the one full bath is tiny (as in an RV), and the road noise from Hwy 89 is constant and quite loud. Difficult to enjoy the hot tub and deck or sleep with the windows open. So if you are looking for a peaceful cabin in the woods experience, this would not be the place. Everything else was perfect.
Loved the coziness and the location! The rooms were perfect, and everyone had a great time. The place is tastefully decorated which made it feel rustic and quaint without sacrificing comfort. The hot tub was amazing, and truly made the evening!
For a 7-night reservation, we were there for 30 minutes to use the wifi to rebook another property.
We loved this cozy cabin for three couples, baby and dogs. Perfect spot to get in some ski days and relax in the tub of by the fire. Amelia was wonderful and communicative. Will definitely be back again!
We had a great time! The best part of the rental was in the details. A+ for management and hospitality. The cabin is clearly vintage, but the renovations made it very comfortable. It has a great gathering space with lots of cozy seating. The layout has a lot of steps and a narrow staircase. This was no issue for us, but could be dangerous for those with mobility issues. The cabin is situated very conveniently to Palisades, but is remote enough to enjoy the majesty of the forest. We took advantage of that and snowshoed right into the woods from the cabin. It snowed at least 8 inches while we were there, which was beautiful! However, we were very thankful that we were so close to the road, as it made leaving in the snow fairly easy. Overall, a great experience that we would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience from initial communication with the owner to checkout. This cabin has everything you need for your family. The entire cabin is thoughtfully decorated with comfortable beds and furniture throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and plenty of dishes. The fenced and gated deck is great to store equipment or allow dogs to stretch their legs safely. There is an area right off the front door for kids to play in the snow and watch from the family room. The cabin is extremely comfortable and the fireplace is a nice touch. The property has plenty of parking off the roadway and it’s location makes it a great location for Palisades and Alpine Meadows activities. The spa was well taken care of and a delight after long days of skiing.
Awesome location, super cozy cabin, and clutch hot tub. We had a great time and were so close to palisades. Would stay again!
My family of four and our large dog loved our stay in this cozy cabin. We loved snowshoeing around the property, the comfy leather furniture in the living room, hot tub and EV charger. Amelia was so easy to communicate with and we will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful new years stay at the cabin with family and friends! There was a huge snow storm while we were there and we enjoyed hunkering down in front of the gas fireplace while watching the snow cover the trees. We also enjoyed snow hiking around the cabin and hot tubbing. The cabin has no visible neighbors on either side and felt very private. It’s in a good location to get to Palisades village, Truckee or Lake Tahoe. There is an extra (4th) room on the ground level with a desk that overlooks the hot tub. The decoration and interior design was lovely. The hosts were good at communicating and came by as needed to snow plow the driveway.
Great location close to Palisades and Alpine Meadows. Would definitely stay again.
We couldn’t be more thrilled to have such a delightful cabin to stay in. This beautiful cozy and gorgeously decorated space was the perfect fit for our family of 5 adults, 2 infants and a little dog. We thoroughly enjoyed the property, fully equipped with modern day furnishings, a beautiful family table to share Christmas dinner on, and a hot tub for relaxing under the snow filled mountains and trees. The bedrooms were perfectly outfitted and we felt like the space was just enough to host our family perfectly. We feel very lucky to be the first guests in this impeccable spot. Amelia was extremely communicative and an excellent host. Everything in the cabin was perfectly organized, meticulously clean, and it felt like a 5 start boutique experience! We would most certainly stay here again and are so grateful to create some beautiful memories in this lovely space. I have a feeling we better book early because this space will be booked solid for a long time to come!!!! It is truly a gem in the perfect location. Thank you so much Amelia!
