Payson, Arizona
This perfect Cabin in the Woods is located in a hidden away, and remote community, of both full-time residents and vacation homes situated along the East Verde River at the base of the Mogollon Rim and approximately a mile away from one of the best hiking areas in the region...Water Wheel Falls (see pics)! Yet it is only 8 miles from downtown Payson. This Cabin is situated in a prime location and is a spectacular gem!
The "Nut House", as we affectionately like to call our A-frame Cabin (no nut trees on the property), is an extremely well-appointed property and includes 3 comfy bedrooms (sleeps 6...with up to 5 adults MAXIMUM), 1 spacious full bath with 2 sinks, and a great room layout with vaulted ceilings. Please Note: The maximum occupancy is 6 persons. Please do not invite additional family/friends to stay or visit with you, even for a daytime visit, due to the septic tank's leach/drain field dispersion limitations.
It is not your typical neglected, dank and musty cabin, for It has been freshly painted and is adorned with wood flooring downstairs and new carpet upstairs. It's easy to navigate kitchen comes well stocked with stainless steel appliances including a full-size oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Also well equipped with a Keurig coffee maker (bring your preferred K-cups), a standard drip coffee maker as well and every conceivable utensil and small appliance you would ever need. In addition, there is a stacked washer/dryer and a completely fenced and secure yard with "outdoor only" security monitoring.
It is a fully Eco-friendly, LED lighted "green" home and is well maintained. Why would you want to camp or "Glamp" when you can stay at The Nut House and rest and relax. We even have a 4' diameter pave stone fire pit for burning real wood and roasting marshmallows (when the Tonto National Forest Payson Ranger District's fire restrictions are not in place! BYOW...Bring Your Own Wood).
The Cabin is within quick walking distance to the continuously flowing East Verde River (see map in photo gallery) and snuggled in the Tonto National Forest. As we mentioned above, the Cabin is conveniently located only a mile away from the best hiking spot in the Tonto National Forest...Water Wheel Falls (Tonto Day Pass required), and it is also fairly close to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park as well as the quaint towns of Pine and Strawberry. In addition, Payson is also the Home of the Worlds Oldest Continuous Rodeo which takes place in the second half of August each year. The Rodeo/Fair Grounds are just 10 miles from the cabin. All roads are paved into and around the property and we have a large secure and gated driveway which can accommodate most any vehicle and trailer combination.
At the top of the Rim (off Hwy 260 East) is Woods Canyon Lake (about a 45-minute drive from the cabin) where you can rent kayak's, canoes and fishing boats, and it's about 7-10 degrees cooler as well.
An additional fantastic scenic hike is at The Tonto Natural Bridge State Park and it is only a 25-minute drive toward Pine, AZ.
That being said, it is only a short to medium drive to lots of additional hiking and off-road trails in the Tonto, Apache-Sitgreaves and Coconino National Forests. Please check with the Tonto N. F., Payson Ranger District (928) 474-7900; the Apache-Sitgreaves N. F., Black Mesa Ranger District (928) 535-7300 or the Coconino N. F., Flagstaff Ranger District (928) 526-0866 for current conditions or restrictions.
Why camp in the woods, fighting off insects and bears when you can be relaxing and sleeping comfortably and yet still be out in the woods. Grab your hiking boots and backpack, snowshoes and play toys and come on up to the fresh air and beautiful surroundings that only our Arizona Rim Country can provide.
The Nut House is less than 2 hours (97 miles) from downtown Phoenix, and a beautiful drive as well so why wait, plan your next high altitude getaway today!
PLEASE NOTE: Beaver Valley Estates is a community that respects each neighbor and cherishes the solitude that living away from the city provides. Therefore, we request that you also respect the community during your stay by following simple commonsense rules such as:
• Following the current fire restrictions posted by the Tonto National Forest. Ex. Stage 2 or 3 fire restrictions prohibit any live campfires, even in an enclosed fire pit. A sign is posted at the first intersection within Beaver Valley Estates when a restriction is in place.
• Keeping outdoor noise and talking to a whisper after 10pm, (even around the campfire...if forest regulations permit it's use). Ex. Party's will not be tolerated, and the Sheriff will be called.
• Keeping the porch lights off after 10pm (unless the motion sensor is activated)
• Parking only in the cabin driveway within the gate (limited to two vehicles + 1 ATV/SxS trailer). No street parking is allowed.
• Not inviting additional guests beyond that which is stated in your reservation. The booking limitation is 6 total guests, (with a maximum of 5 adults). This is also a condition of the cabin rental, and additional guests will not be tolerated. This limit includes daytime guests.
If you cannot abide by these community friendly rules, then we ask that you look elsewhere for an accommodation as these rules will be closely monitored by our neighbors and violations will be quickly reported.
Loved everything about this place. It was total relaxation for us staying here.
Cute, cozy, and comfy house. We all loved the convenience of having a well-supplied kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, stove, and a nice sized fridge. The community was small and quaint but close to a creek, hiking trails, and campsites. Beautiful scenic drive on dirt road in the mountain area was awesome. The girls want to come back when there is snow. Loved our stay.
This cabin was perfect for our stay. It had everything we needed and more and the area was quiet and beautiful. It is located so close to Water Wheel and so many other great hiking locations. Communication with our hosts was fast and easy and they whole stay was stress free and enjoyable. We will definitely be looking at this place again for our Payson trips.
Great stay in Beaver valley we have stayed in another rental there before area is always very nice quiet relaxing
Cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It rained the we ntire stay and we loved staying g ok inside and playing board games and watching movies. It was a very relaxing mini vacation. We woukd definitely stay here again.
We had a great stay! This property had everything we needed. Everything was clean and in good condition. Lots of great hikes and opportunities to get outdoors nearby. We walked along (and in) the Verde River right there in the neighborhood, and we spotted some deer. When the rain rolled in we made great use of the provided internet and video streaming services. We would definitely stay here again!
We loved the cabin! Very clean and so charming. Beds were great! Neighborhood was delightful ...away from the town but looks like a wonderful little community of neighbors. We wished there had been a bathroom upstairs with master bedroom. We slept downstairs for easier access. Great stay otherwise!
There is lots of wildlife. Water wheel was a nice hike the area is beautiful and green. Just far enough off the highway to be quiet and not to far away to be a long drive to town. The fenced in yard is great for parking the vehicle. We enjoyed all the board games available for when we were at the house. The kitchen is nice and spacious. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the house as we had planned out our days prior to arrival but would definitely stay again
Was a great cabin…only issue we had was the air conditioning….we were hoping to have a place to keep cool during the summer day but the ac was only in the living room…all the bedrooms were quit hot until about 9-10pm. Our master upstairs was about 91 until the sun went down.
The cabin was clean with ample supplies. While it was not as private or secluded as we hoped, it was a very quiet neighborhood with excellent hiking opportunities nearby.
We spent Easter here and my 8 and 10 year old had a blast! The house is close to the creek, playground and just a short drive to our favorite hike at Water Wheel. The house had everything we needed and more! Yuval and Yael were very accommodating and let us stay past checkout due to our late arrival. Highly recommend for families who want to get the kids outdoors. Creek is slow moving and shallow- there are even some rope swings my kids couldn’t get enough of.
