Great location, beautiful cabin and very clean
Loved the location, all amenities, the furnishings all were perfect.
Right or wrong, it goes without saying that vacation renters these days have become accustomed to certain baseline conveniences -- coffee grounds or beans among them. We were welcomed with an AWESOME cherry pie, which we thoroughly enjoyed and was not expected. Yet while a welcome pie is a great touch, it didn't make up for some basics we found lacking, such as coffee. This was more of an issue b/c a snowstorm that blew in just after we arrived cut down the operating hours of nearby businesses making it harder to get coffee and other eat-in items. The cabin itself is charming, the beds comfortable, and the location great. But there were huge temp differences between the bedrooms -- one with no heating -- and one only accessible via another bedroom. A nice stay overall, but not great.
We enjoyed the property immensely. Close to White Sands, hiking trails, shops and nature, this base of operations was nice to come home to after a day of fun outings. We played games in the evenings and rarely turned on the TV in our four-night stay. Plenty of space, a porch for sitting and sipping, a kitchen you can cook in, and access to laundry facilities made this a great choice for us. We were even treated to a smattering of snow before we left! 10/10 highly recommend
We had a comfortable stay. Very cold temps(18 deg) but we were warm. Centrally located to town but far enough away for quiet. Deer visited daily. Great porch would have been great sitting outside. Overall the cabin was well stocked for in-house cooking, living area was spacious and bedrooms were good. Def a good find.
This property was great with plenty of room!
Great place!
Stacy is a wonderful host and the location of El Matador Cabin allowed us to walk to shops, restaurants and trailheads. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. Thank you for the apple caramel pie, Stacy!
The house was awesome, had everything we needed. The porch swing was my favorite place. The house had a lot of character, the floors leaned a little to the south but was easily adjusted to. Stacey had a fresh pie waiting at the local bakery for us. A very nice touch. We will definitely stay there again given the opportunity.
We hadn’t seen rain since early May. We have been in triple digit temperatures for 43 days straight! (Central Texas). Had a lovely time. Spent a lot of it on the covered deck in the rocking chairs. Our dogs loved it too. The gates kept them on the deck so we didn’t have to worry or harness them up while outside. So relaxing. Altitude takes a bit of getting used to. I recommend you take steps to prepare yourself and dogs if you take them. Thanks Stacy!
We came to Cloudcroft to get out of the Texas heat. Cloudcroft is in an amazing location with beautiful, cool, clean, pine-scented air! The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. The porches are amazing. I spent many hours in the rocking chairs reading and taking in the weather. Stacy was very helpful when we couldn't figure out the TV remote. And as promised...a delicious blueberry pie on arrival. It was a wonderful getaway for us - just didn't last long enough.
The cabin was perfect and matched the description. The cabin was clean and everything worked great. The pie was a perfect touch ! Thank you !
Loved the wrap around porch. Great place for morning coffee and evening wine! Cabin is a short two block walk to town.
Great location, awesome porch. Host/owner was responsive to our questions.
The location? Amazing. Easy quick walk downtown or up to the golf course. The cabin? Beautifully decorated, clean, stocked with everything you could need. The owners? Quick to respond with any questions. 10 out of 10 will be back!!
6 days in the mountains with great porches and views. The location was close to the main town area. The cabin was well stocked and the owner/manager was quick to reply. Wreceived
Enjoyed the quiet, beautiful place! Would recommend highly.
We loved this property!! It was so quiet and relaxing and very close to shopping, food, etc. We really enjoyed watching the wildlife from our bedroom window every morning and sitting out on the porch in the evening. Thank you so much for the peach pie, it was so thoughtful. I defiantly recommend this property. The host is so thoughtful and very quick to respond to you. Can't wait to make it back here!
Cozy, comfortable, and complete with everything you need to enjoy your stay in Cloudcroft and nearby White Sands National Park. We will be back!!
The El Matador cabin met all of our expectations and then some! It was clean, comfortable and fully stocked. Stacy was an amazing host. From our fresh welcome homemade pie to suggestions on where to visit. Cloudcroft is absolutely beautiful and we were able to walk the neighborhood and explore the beautiful mountains. The porch swing was perfect for having my morning coffee with my granddaughter and watching the beautiful deer that visited us each morning. We highly recommend this rustic, cozy cabin!
A very cute and clean property. Super convenient to town but still quiet! Loved seeing the deer in the morning. Got a few inches of snow the first night and it made the area so pretty! We will return to this property!
We had a wonderful stay, easy to get in and out, walk to town, plenty of room for our family!
This was our second year to stay at El Matador. Love the quaint little home and it's location is great. Stacy is a wonderful host with a fresh pie always awaiting your arrival. The snow was awesome this year and this will always be our Go-To place in Cloudcroft. Highly recommend:) Sheryl
Very nice clean and cozy cabin walking distance to old town Cloudcroft. The cabin is quite large, which would make it perfect for vacationing couples. The main bedrooms are large and located at opposite ends of the cabin. The 3rd room is set up with tein beds and very nice. Great walking and hiking, great food and shopping all withing walking distance.
Great! just wish a little less per night
