Getting Around:

Winter Weather & Mountain Travel Notice

During the winter months, weather conditions in Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, and Sugar Mountain can be unpredictable. Snow, ice, high winds, and rapidly changing road conditions are common and should be expected when traveling to and from the property.

For your safety and ease of travel, we strongly recommend arriving in a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle during winter months. Snow chains may also be necessary depending on conditions. Guests are responsible for monitoring weather forecasts, road conditions, and state travel advisories prior to departure and during travel.

We strongly recommend planning your arrival for around 4:00 PM while daylight is still available. Mountain roads can become significantly more difficult to navigate after dark, especially during or after winter weather events.

While we make reasonable efforts to clear driveways and walkways, snow removal is not guaranteed, especially during active snowfall or severe weather conditions. Natural snowfall may accumulate faster than it can be safely cleared. Snow shovels are provided for guest use so you can clear additional accumulation to your preference.

Mountain travel may be slower than expected, and road closures or delays can occur without notice. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip investment in case of weather-related travel interruptions.

Please note that winter weather, road conditions, flight cancellations, or travel delays are not valid reasons for refunds, date changes, or cancellations outside of the listing’s stated cancellation policy. By booking this property, you acknowledge the inherent risks of winter mountain travel and accept responsibility for arriving safely and prepared.

Other Things to Note:

Because this is a mountain home, there is potential for guests to encounter wildlife. Please be mindful of this at all times. Garbage or food should never be left outside to ensure we do not attract curious bears, Raccoons or other local wildlife. Weather is also unpredictable. Please dress accordingly and have proper equipment for your vehicles.

Exterior security camera present

Camera on exterior of home monitors front entryway. Only one camera at the front door, and is ON and recording 24/7 during the reservation. The camera is only outside for the safety of ourselves and our guests.

Free EV Charger provide. Bring your adapters specific to your vehicle

The host was easy to connect with and very helpful! The place was just as it was pictured. The beds were extremely comfortable and the logs made it easy to heat up the place when coming in from skiing and kept it cozy.

Not a great experience, unfortunately the location is much further away than the listing stated, which was our number one reason for booking the place, next the road at the house was on shut down due to almost what appeared to be a collapse in the road, lthat we were never told about and had to go all the way around to get to the house from other roads, not easy to maneuver in a van. The the original photos are much older than how the house currently looks, the temperature outside was in the 20s. The fireplace was broken the entire time they did try to send somebody to fix it, but that did not seem to help.

Our stay at this beautiful treehouse was perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how easy it was to access — the ramp leading up to the entrance was such a helpful feature for guests finding stairs difficult to navigate. Inside, the home is warm and inviting. The floor-to-ceiling windows let in so much natural light and offered beautiful views of the mountains.Every detail has been considered — from the cozy fireplace and well-stocked kitchen to the relaxing hot tub under the stars. — close to Beech Mountain Resort and local restaurants, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private.

The house was so outdated upon arrival once we opened the door the place smelled awful much like an old dirty musky smell. Old dirty rugs in the bedrooms NO rug at all in the living room. The dishwasher was hanging out of the wall dirty refrigerator inside and out . The oven looked as if it had NEVER been cleaned. Deck needed powerwashing green mold . The hot tub was slimy and green with leaves stuck in the filter. The house was cold and not sure what kind of heating system. Seemed to be space heaters in the baseboard . All of heaters did not work. pots and pans dirty and greasy. Cable tv but no major network Chanel’s . Bottom line the whole place needed a total remodel. No way was it worth 412.00 a night. Furniture old and stinks . No fire wood for fire pit and nothing alerting you to bring wood if you want to use the fire pit. The gas logs were nice but yet again nothing you could leave on so if you leave the house I felt the heating system was unsafe to leave on. So the house was cold each morning until the gas logs and strange heaters heated up the house. Was worried about fire alarm and carbon monoxide alarms . Just not safe and dirty.

The place was clean and beautiful! We enjoyed all the amenities like the hot tub and outdoor fireplace. The wifi was good. We especially liked having an EV charger on site for our Tesla. The only negative thing I can think of is the address is on a closed road. It was a paved road that must have been washed out from the hurricane. We did have to take a detour on a gravel road and then drive around the road closed sign to get to the entrance. It wasn't a big deal but would have been nice if this was mentioned to avoid the panic we felt when seeing the road was closed. We would definitely stay at this charming place again!

Rusty water, broken glass on deck, trash all over yard, so much furniture you could hardly move without tripping, floor was filthy, outdoor rug smelled on mildew so bad couldn’t sit out there, etc.

It was a very lovely house. However, the listing notes that it is a 3 bedroom. Please note in fact this is only a two bedroom home (we notified the owner immediately). If we had known we would not have booked the property because we specifically wanted a 3 bedroom. My two children slept in one bed, my mother in the other and I was on the couch. For the price we paid for two nights, I was a little disappointed. The owner was wonderful at communication, very fast response time. The house heaters worked well, shower water pressure was good, fully stocked kitchen and very much appreciated the coffee bar. The view was beautiful, and the hot tub was ready for use. Happy that the house was less than 5 minutes from the ski lodge. Great place if you want two bedrooms.
