This is the Original Cabin at the lake! There is another house which blocks access now but the public boat access is 1 house North. The Cabin has had many upgrades and is very comfortable with all your needs. It has Dish network service for tv. Savage Lake is great for Swimming, Skiing, Tubing, Fishing and just soaking up the sun. New this season (2022) are 2 Kayaks for use on Savage Lake. Life vests and paddles are in the old boathouse below the cabin.. Please access the lake by the publicboat launch. This Cabin has Savage Lake views and access to the lake from the North 1 house away at the public boat launch. We are located in rural Northwest Montana and it is a great place for a getaway and recharge time. We are situated in between the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness on the Montana side, and the Scapegoat Wilderness on the Idaho side. Views of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, Fishing, Boating, Skiing, Golfing, Hiking and all outdoor activities! We are 3 miles from Troy (about 1000 residents) with Groceries, Gas, Ace Hardware, Bowling Alley, Library(with Internet access go to Lincoln County Library ( lclibraries), Movie Theater, Red Box, and State Hwy 56 access. Troy has a sit down restaurant and several sandwich shops. The Cabin is 18 miles from Libby, MT (About 2700 residents), it has Restaurants, Heritage Museum (with interesting old time mining and logging equipment) Grocery store, workout facilities and the beautiful Cabinet View Golf Course known for it's slow pace and reasonable green fees. Make time to visit the Swinging Bridge over the Kootenai River on the way to Libby. There is a nice hike to the Swinging Bridge with amazing views of the river. It's about 8 miles from the Cabin, and right on the left of the Highway towards Libby is the parking area. There are tennis and workout facilities in the Troy/Libby area, also several Steak Houses around the Cabin. Some horseback options are available check online for them. The Cabin is 150 miles from Spokane, Washington, which has many recreational opportunities. It's about a 1 hour drive to Sandpoint, Idaho, which is a gorgeous drive with great shopping, restaurants, antiquing and golfing and there is a fun downtown walking and shopping experience. It's good to get back to Troy after a fast paced day away. You will find good Montana fishing and rafting on the Kootenai and Yaak Rivers, where you should expect to be catching Rainbow trout. The Cabin is just a short distance to the Yaak River Country on the other side of Troy. This is the location of the popular Mountain Men program on T.V. It's very remote, please be sure to visit the Dirty Shame Bar up the Yaak which is a Montana tradition. My uncle was working up the Yaak for the Forest Service in the 1960's and is one of my earliest memories of coming to visit this area of Montana in the 60's. Uncle Dal helped to save the Ross Cedars from being logged back then and now they are being enjoyed for their special place in Montana thanks to him and his co-workers. The Ross Cedars are on the way to Thompson Falls just past Bull Lake, about 15 minutes from the Cabin. Enjoy your time here in Western Montana! -- Tom.

It was horribly dirty when we arrived. There is dog hair everywhere. The toilet was not clean, bedding had dog hair on it, the couch was covered in hair. The place was so dirty and smelled of dog that we had to make other arrangements.

The property itself is beautiful and close to town for convenience. However, the whole inside was covered in dog hair on all bedding, counters, table covers. The floors had balls of dog hair that had not been swept or vacuumed. Had to spend the first morning vacuuming and sweeping. The bathroom was not cleaned at all. The AC kept freezing up and we had to unthaw it multiple times. The coffee pot had a brewed pot left in it and required cleaning before use. Was frustrating to come for a wedding and no internet at location and no notice that location is in a Cell phone dead zone with one bar or less availability the whole time. Unable to send or receive calls or texts. Also BBQ was out of propane so cost us another 40 dollars to replace tank for one time use. we had to leave the full bottle as we could not travel with it.

The owner is very kind but upon arrival it seemed as if the bathroom hadnt bern cleaned in a while. Also, the boat launch is only a boat launch, nobeach. We did go to a local campground about 20 min drive away and found a beautiful beach & lake at Bull Lake!

Quiet at night, road noise in daytime. Low price was good, nice on a lake. Run down interior but get what you pay for.

First of all, I never ever leave reviews. We stay a lot of places but I just never have the time or am that impressed. This little cabin was the PERFECT get away. No kids, no dogs, no cell service. It was clean and had everything we needed. Tom was very nice and communicated with me about everything. check in was simple. The lake is absolutely gorgeous. We saw bald eagles, fish, turtles, squirrels, deer. The neighbors were super friendly. We just floated the lake all 3 days on our float tube. It was so relaxing. I will go back for sure. Thanks for sharing your home!!! :)

I love that this property has two houses. The back house is a cozy retreat to allow for some separation.

Overall it was in a nice spot, next to a lake with a mountain in the background. It is pretty much in the middle of no where. Just be warned there is nearly 0 cell reception there and no wifi. I can’t say it was a negative, it got the family off their devices and we enjoyed everything thing else in the area

We had so much fun. Tom answered all our questions almost immediately after we asked them. Their are 2 houses on the property we stayed in the one closest to the road it was still amazing. Becky(owner) and family was there checking on propertys when we arrived and we met them and they were so so nice. When they left she left us a note on the door and signed it grandma Becky we loved it . It is in a wonderful location and there is a lot to explore in every direction. We took use of the kayaks and we had so much fun it is nice and peaceful and relaxing. The wifi was pretty spotty so the kids couldn't be on their phones the whole time. We played some board games. We found a game called pit at goodwill that I used to play with my grandma and I was able to teach my kids the game we laughed so hard. We also watched a couple of movies as a family. The property is also close enough to have a nice day trip to Glacier national Park. If you watch mountain man it is close to where Tom Oar lives you can make an appointment to shop at the trafing post he sells his goods from. It was just a truly amazing trip.
