Troy, Montana
This is the Original Cabin at the lake! There is another house which blocks access now but the public boat access is 1 house North. The Cabin has had many upgrades and is very comfortable with all your needs. It has Dish network service for tv. Savage Lake is great for Swimming, Skiing, Tubing, Fishing and just soaking up the sun. New this season (2022) are 2 Kayaks for use on Savage Lake. Life vests and paddles are in the old boathouse below the cabin.. Please access the lake by the public boat launch. This Cabin has Savage Lake views and access to the lake from the North 1 house away at the public boat launch. We are located in rural Northwest Montana and it is a great place for a getaway and recharge time. We are situated in between the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness on the Montana side, and the Scapegoat Wilderness on the Idaho side. Views of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, Fishing, Boating, Skiing, Golfing, Hiking and all outdoor activities! We are 3 miles from Troy (about 1000 residents) with Groceries, Gas, Ace Hardware, Bowling Alley, Library(with Internet access go to Lincoln County Library ( lclibraries), Movie Theater, Red Box, and State Hwy 56 access. Troy has a sit down restaurant and several sandwich shops. The Cabin is 18 miles from Libby, MT (About 2700 residents), it has Restaurants, Heritage Museum (with interesting old time mining and logging equipment) Grocery store, workout facilities and the beautiful Cabinet View Golf Course known for it's slow pace and reasonable green fees. Make time to visit the Swinging Bridge over the Kootenai River on the way to Libby. There is a nice hike to the Swinging Bridge with amazing views of the river. It's about 8 miles from the Cabin, and right on the left of the Highway towards Libby is the parking area. There are tennis and workout facilities in the Troy/Libby area, also several Steak Houses around the Cabin. Some horseback options are available check online for them. The Cabin is 150 miles from Spokane, Washington, which has many recreational opportunities. It's about a 1 hour drive to Sandpoint, Idaho, which is a gorgeous drive with great shopping, restaurants, antiquing and golfing and there is a fun downtown walking and shopping experience. It's good to get back to Troy after a fast paced day away. You will find good Montana fishing and rafting on the Kootenai and Yaak Rivers, where you should expect to be catching Rainbow trout. The Cabin is just a short distance to the Yaak River Country on the other side of Troy. This is the location of the popular Mountain Men program on T.V. It's very remote, please be sure to visit the Dirty Shame Bar up the Yaak which is a Montana tradition. My uncle was working up the Yaak for the Forest Service in the 1960's and is one of my earliest memories of coming to visit this area of Montana in the 60's. Uncle Dal helped to save the Ross Cedars from being logged back then and now they are being enjoyed for their special place in Montana thanks to him and his co-workers. The Ross Cedars are on the way to Thompson Falls just past Bull Lake, about 15 minutes from the Cabin. Enjoy your time here in Western Montana! -- Tom.

Good
The house was equipped with everything you could need and then some! Beautiful lake, really nice host ! A little close to a main road you will hear lots of road noise. The house could use a good deep clean but other then that we had a nice stay.
We came Montana to visit family, it was nice to only be a few miles from them. The house was nice and cozy and had everything we needed. Hope to visit again.
We enjoyed our stay. This cabin is located in an area the provides convenient access to many of the area’s activities. The cabin has everything you need for an extended stay. The host was very responsive and friendly.
Repeat visitors to the property.
Dirty lack of maintenance
My friends and I stayed during a trip fishing the Kootenai River. The place was great and we had great communication throughout the trip. The location provides easy access to Troy and Libby. We were very pleased with our stay.
We enjoyed the convenience of the location, near a wedding venue we were attending. Cabin was roomy and included comfortable amenities, including an open kitchen and a ton of movies to watch. Though we did not have direct to the lake from the cabin, we did enjoy the location. Cabin could use some updating, especially in the bathroom. Tom was very timely with responses and great to communication.
I enjoyed this cabin and the area so much from 2 years ago, I brought my daughter and her hiking pal to enjoy, too. Thanks Tom!
Good affordable place to stay while in town!
Plenty of space and fantastic location for all sorts of activities. Communication was excellent.
Truly a family cabin that they rent out.
Tom was great at communicating. Nice to be so close to the lake.
We had a wonderful weekend getaway. Cabin was nice and had all the necessities with good space. Bathroom shower needs a good overall cleaning. Outside area didn't have much space to relax in (yard, patio, etc.) but there was plenty to do in the surrounding area so we weren't at cabin much. We also had to access the lake from a public dock which was just a short walk. Overall, we enjoyed our time away. Thank you!
We had a wonderful vacation, the original cabin on the lake is in an excellent location - absolutely beautiful.
Tom accurately described this as a “hunting cabin” it’s not a 5 star resort but it’s a perfect cabin in the woods - exactly what we needed to escape the City life! We enjoyed just sitting outside at the patio table soaking it all in Tom was an accommodating and responsive host!
