Our family home is a classic mountain retreat at reasonable rates. Why pay for granite counter tops, when you came for granite mountains ! We are close to Lake Tahoe, The Truckee River and Tahoe City.

Come enjoy our rustic mountain cabin in the scenic Alpine Meadows valley. Our house has wood paneling throughout, a large fieldstone and copper fireplace, big windows with gorgeous views of the mountains, two wood decks directly off the house, and a detached wooden deck with benches under trees near the house. Perfect for a family getaway or two or three families with kids, the two-story house has an expandable dinner table seating up to 12 people, an open-plan kitchen/dining area, and a spacious bunkroom sleeping 7 downstairs and - you can even bring your dog! Full supply of blankets and linens; separate laundry room with washer/dryer.

Our kid-friendly house makes a perfect base for taking advantage of the area’s many recreational opportunities in every season:

WINTER
Our house is 5 minutes from the Alpine Meadows ski and it is a 10 minute drive to Squaw Valley, which offers cross-country and downhill skiing, ice-skating, and scenic tramway rides. It is also on the route of the shuttle to either resort. We have our own private sledding hill out the back door, and a mudroom and warming closet by the front door for wet skiwear and kids’ clothes. Granlibakken, a kid-oriented ski area with sledding and tubing areas, is a 20-minute drive.

FALL AND SPRING
The surrounding mountains and valleys offer spectacular foliage in the fall, and rushing streams and rivers to explore in the spring. Don’t be misled by the term “off-season”!

SUMMER
Down the hill in back of the house is a cool, clear stream, with a small swimming hole, and there are wonderful hiking and mountain biking trails minutes from the door. For a fee, renters also can access to Alpine Meadows Community Park (3 miles from the house) which has a stream-fed swimming pond with a sandy beach, picnic tables, BBQ pits, tennis courts, volleyball, and soccer field – everything you need for a lovely family day. Horseback riding is available 5 minutes from the house at Alpine Meadows Stables. We are 5 minutes from the Truckee River for fishing, swimming and rafting, 10 minutes from Squaw Valley, with more hiking, biking, hip shopping and 5-star restaurants at the Village at Squaw Valley, and 15 minutes from gorgeous Lake Tahoe with numerous swimming, boating, eating and shopping options.

This cabin was a great stay. The location/neighborhood is very nice and is it not too far from lake Tahoe itself. The instructions and contract were laid out very clearly so I didn't need to ask very many questions. The cabin itself was very clean and there were plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows for everyone. And if I did have any questions the host was quick to answer.

What can we say, we were going into this thinking we would be indoor camping, but this place although “out of date & a bit run down” has it charm. It’s clean, it’s not perfect, stains on sheets, but if you are ok with a few imperfections then this place definitely works! They have so many linens, towels, blankets you name it. We attended a festival at palisades and had 9 adults, we forgot to make advance reservation and had limited options for our large group. Everyone had a place and there was still enough room for plenty more. You’re very close to Squaw and alpine meadows. Definitely worth staying again! Oh and the host is very attentive and available. Thank you again!

We all had a good time at this place. A lot of snow gear for use, though we didn't end up using any. Victoria is very responsive and always willing to help out with any request. Instructions were clearly posted everywhere. Close to Tahoe and Palisades. Highly recommend!

It was a great experience! The cabin is so relaxing and the neighborhood is quiet. Such a great place to take your family and enjoy not just the view but all the great activities you can do with the family.

Enjoyed a week day stay at this spacious, homey family retreat. Arrived in the midst of heavy winter weather. Host was accommodating of a delayed arrive due to weather. Access was a little difficult due to tremendous snow build up. Our family enjoyed the comfortable living area and available games. Preparation for travel (AWD, chains) a must.

Great residential location close to ski resorts with a backyard for snow play. Myself and another dad took 4 kids for a snow trip. Everyone had a great time. We loved the layout of the house. So many sleeping options, especially for the young folks who want to break into smaller groups. Lots of great sitting/social areas in the house including a nice open fireplace. Love the large dining table. Like the listing says, ...who needs granite counters..., the finishing touches are not overdone for a mountain cabin, which reflects well in the price. We planned to stay two nights. It was VERY cold and a pipe burst while we were out during the day. Things like this happen, and although we were bummed to leave early the owners refunded everything (cleaning, fees, rental) except the 1st night's rental fee. The only reason I give 4 starts for check-in is because the process is complex due to the bears and winterizing the house water supply. Not a big deal for me (country boy), but might put other off a bit. Can't wait to stay here again with a larger group for a longer trip.
