Our cabin is conveniently located just off the Peak to Peak Highway, Route 119, midway between the fun, gambling town of Black Hawk and the town of Nederland, gateway to the Indian Peaks wilderness, in the quiet mountain neighborhood of Meadowlake Mountain Acres. Located on almost two acres, Aspen Meadows has a geological rock formation at the rear of the property, where, after an easy hike up the pathway, you are treated to an almost 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain peaks, including the Continental Divide.

Cabin Features
Aspen Meadows' open floor plan is bright and cheery with large windows and easy communication between the living room, dining room and kitchen. A den/sunroom off the living room is another gathering place and can be closed off to serve as an additional bedroom with the comfy sofa that folds out to a queen-size bed for one or two extra guests. A wood burning fireplace in the living room and a wood stove in the dining room will keep your family warm and cozy, (wood is provided). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals, including staples, spices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. (Nederland's B&F Supermarket is minutes away for convenient stocking up.) If you don't feel like cooking, Nederland also has several fun restaurants or you may visit the restaurants at the Black Hawk casinos.

The master bedroom has a comfy queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and French doors which open onto a private deck. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and the kids' bedroom is equipped with a bunk bed and two twin beds.

More Good Stuff
In addition, there is a full bathroom near the kitchen and a washer and dryer, with detergent, for your use. On the main deck in the front of the cabin, there is a gas grill, along with plenty of seating, and the crisp, delicious mountain air abounds! Our cabin now has fast and reliable Starlink WI-FI for guests. Also, a 40 smart TV with DirectTV, aand a DVD player is located in the living room. The sunroom has an additional flat screen TV with a DVD/VHS player and an extensive movie library. There is information about the local area and also plenty of books, board games and puzzles to enjoy while on vacation. Kick back, relax and enjoy the peace!

Pets are welcome at Aspen Meadows with an additional security deposit. Although the streets leading up to the easily accessed and flat driveway of the cabin are quickly plowed after snowfall by the county, 4WD is still recommended throughout the Winter.

While enjoying the outdoor deck and gas BBQ, keep an eye out for local critters like moose, squirrels, pikas and many birds!

So Many Things to Do!
The property is one mile from the entrance of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and within easy driving distance to fabulous hiking, biking, fishing, sight-seeing, skiing, gambling in the mining town of Black Hawk, and so much more. Vacationers are within walking distance to the Gilpin County Library with free computers and internet access, and two miles down the highway is the first class Gilpin Community Center. Our Center offers an indoor track, lap & activity pools, basketball & volleyball courts, dance & fitness studio, cardio equipment, weight room, hiking trail, art studio, teen room with pool, ping pong and air hockey tables, meeting rooms, lounge, free WI-FI, seasonal events and more, all available to visitors for a small fee!

This charming cabin is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. The kitchen is well appointed, the wood pile is fully stocked, games and movies are plentiful....no need to go anywhere except the backyard where you can enjoy peace and quiet. The host was easy to communicate with when I had a question.

The house is great, and worked well for my group of 3-6. Cozy mountain cabin is the perfect description. It’s secluded but convenient. Cabin is spacious and very comfortable to gather or catch a nap. It snowed one night which topped off the trip!

I have stayed here 3 times. Each time is wonderful. Based on my experience, I am reluctant to choose a different location where I have no idea what to expect. Quiet, calm...you can hear yourself think. I highly recommend this cabin.

My family and I (wife, 6 year old and small dog) stayed at the cabin for 3 weeks. It was exactly what we were looking for to escape the heat of Texas and the big city life. All the amenities were great. The community center near by with a fitness and swimming pool was so wonderful. The cabin wi-fi was good, except for Zoom meetings. I used my hotspot so it was fine. Nature: We loved the fact that the state park was so close we could hike there and back. We went for daily walks to and around the lake. We even encountered the neighborhood moose a couple of times! Went to the local brewery, Very Nice Brewery, just a 3 minute drive from the cabin a few times. The owners are awesome and they are very dog friendly! Overall the experience was wonderful. We miss living there and would definitely stay again. 5 Stars !

We had a LOVELY time at this cabin! Beautiful views with a short walk around Lake Thorn. Close to Nederland and access to many nearby trails. The interior was so cozy and had a rustic cabin feel. Our entire family loved it, especially our young boys who hiked the mountain in three back yard. Thank you for having us! The Martinson and Fogle Families

Cabin is located in a great small community between 2 parks on a mountain. The trees were a good break from concrete. The place is very accepting of pets. However, that was the best feature. The host advertises expedient plowing after snow and we showed up when it was snowing. The plow didn’t come for 2 days. Half of our party had to turn back and go home because the property was inaccessible. The host also offers dish/directTV and internet. Neither was available the entire week. The host also offers common staples but fails to mention that they expect the guests to leave behind unused food as the staples. Be aware that almost all the staples we found were expired and gave one of us food poisoning. There was a stove for heat expect the host never provided wood despite saying so in the ad. We had to buy many bundles of our own wood. The host was difficult to reach and even said they were across the country and on a plane. The area was great but I wouldn’t stay here again.

This was an awesome cabin and a great location for Nederland, Golden Gate Canyon State Park and Idaho Springs. Everyone enjoyed having their own space and bedrooms. Kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and dishes. We enjoyed the daily visit of the Moose and her calf and it was an enjoyable walk to the lake. We were even able to see the comet from the rock pile in the back yard. We would definitely stay here again if are in the area.

Overall, this is a great property. A little disappointed in the disheveled appearance of the outside - high weeds, unable to use the front yard due to recent septic work, but understandable. The inside of the house was spot on. Lots of room for everyone. Great to have laundry and two bathrooms. There was a mouse (or three). But this is somewhat to be expected considering the remote location as well. Rest assured that we took care of the issue and left the mouse traps in the junk drawer in the kitchen in case anyone else needs them. We were hoping that Thorn Lake was a bit more accessible. We were not sure where we could or could not access it due to some of the signs posted. There was wildlife galore!!! Bull moose, bull elk and even an overnight visit by a bear and her cub! The property is on the mountain, takes time to get down and near town again. Be sure to stop and grab your groceries before you head up. The prices at the nearby gas stations are ridiculous, even though convenient. Would definitely utilize the property again - met all of our needs!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is very well equipped with all the necessities. We enjoyed the selection of games and the kitchen has everything you need. The property was just as described. Not fancy but comfortable and a great location near Golden Gate Canyon State Park.
