Come experience the beauty of the Smokies from the banks of the Little Pigeon River and create memories that will last a lifetime. The Reagan family, one of Gatlinburg's most historic families, began building cabins around 1925. At the time, Otha Reagan worked stripping tanning bark in the Sugarlands area of what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and his wife, Emma, was a weaver at Arrowmont. In 1923, Otha and Emma had saved enough money, $500 to be exact to purchase five acres of land on the Roaring Fork Creek where Brookside Resort is today. Just a few years later they began building small cabins and chicken coops on the property to rent to men who were in the area building the road from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome. These cabins were built with timbers from the Roaring Fork School House and Church, and some were built from log homes moved straight out of the National Park. Many of the Reagan family's ancestors were even born in these cabins!

In 1971, Gatlinburg Southern Building Code required the remodel of nearly all the buildings in the area to a Bavarian type of exterior, so the Reagan cabins were updated to conform. Not too long after that in 1980, all of the original cabins and chicken houses were moved to their present location in picturesque Emerts Cove by a local river hangout called the Flint Rock Swimming Hole. To make a few larger cabins to accommodate larger families, two of the original cabins were placed on each side of a concrete slab to form a bedroom and a bathroom, and the middle was built to form a living area. Don't worry, though, the cabins haven't lost any of their history rumor has it that old chicken feed bags from the cabins earliest years have been found in their attics! Today's owners are proud to bring a little piece of their family's Gatlinburg history to your Gatlinburg vacation!

This particular cabin is located on the Little Pigeon River where you can hear the captivating sounds of the river from your cabin. The cabin features one studio style bedroom with a king-size bed and full kitchen and dining area and one private bathroom. From Shady Brook you are within walking distance of the Greenbrier entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, just a few miles from Gatlinburg city limits, and minutes away from downtown Gatlinburg.

3 miles from Rocky Top Sports World.

Cabin was nice and loved the water running close by. I found some of the kitchen utensils were very cheap plastic.I would bring my own if we returned.Overall a nice place.

My husband and i stayed for our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. We loved hearing the water rushing in the Little Pigeon river! The covered bridge was a short walk that i could do even with a walker. Our dog enjoyed our stay too. The king sized bed was a bit bouncy for my arthitis, but still OK. The large shower was great. There were nice soaps & shampoo provided. The kitchen had good quality pans for cooking and everything we needed to make our steak dinner with baked potatoes! There were benches for our bags but no hooks, hangers or closet. The location was very peaceful! My husband enjoyed walking our dog on the quiet country roads. We are so glad that we found it!

The cabin was clean. It is a peaceful area by a stream. The property manager was very attentive. Nice bathroom with a big shower. It had a comfortable bed.

The only thing we liked about the cabin was the proximity to the river. The bed was very uncomfortable, with a torn mattress pad which caused the sheets to come off every night. The shower had very poor water pressure. The cabin has a window unit, not central AC and NO ceiling fan. The cabin was dusty, with cobwebs and general ick. The rugs were old and looked like they hadn't been shampooed or vacuumed. Check in and out was easy, but for the money, this place wasn't very nice.

We had a great stay! The bed was so comfortable. It was clean and just enough room for my husband and I. We enjoyed peaceful evenings sitting at the fire pit and listening to the creek! Not far from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Especially if you know back cuts! We walked all around the area and it was a beautiful walk. Would book again. The only thing I would add is soap holders in the shower to hold your soap.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. If you are outdoorsy then you will enjoy this place. We walked down to the bridge and fished. The water is beautiful. You could see straight down. We also took some family photos by the bridge. The Diamond renters were very friendly. If you are looking for outdoorsy vs luxury then you will enjoy this stay. The only negative I could even think would be to brighten up the place a bit with brighter lighting. Other than that everything worked well. Kitchen was fully stocked. We had fun!
