Stayed Sep 6, 2025Black Point Hideaway is a true gem. The setting cannot be beat. Every day we saw seals, deer, foxes, and lots of hummingbirds. Many schooners and sailboats also frequent the channel in front of the house as do lobster boats. We could sit on the porch for hours and never run out of things to look at. The open kitchen and living area allows true family time and the large window seat is one of the house's best features. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the supplies we needed. The private beach kept our grandchildren outside playing for hours and was the perfect place to launch our kayaks. We will definitely be back againin the future!

Stayed Aug 16, 2025We love Black Point Hideaway because it is very remote and so beautifully located that it almost feels like you are on your own island. The beach is sandy, the porch faces out to the east…gorgeous views, perfect for morning coffee and a picnic table for lunch or a jigsaw puzzle, or art project. The walk down to the beach is a tad precarious but there are several ways to get there. The beautifully built lodge-like cottage is very spacious with four bedrooms and a very wonderful open living room and kitchen area. The decor has lots of “soul” and history, which we love, the opposite of fancy/modern. The dirt road leading to the cottage is 1.1 miles…wonderful for walking. In two weeks, we saw only two cars on it! The nearest grocery store is a 25 minute drive. The primary bedroom is huge and very comfortable with views to the water. There is only one shower…the second bath upstairs has a tub. Black Point Hideaway is a heavenly escape. There are deer, bunnies, seals, bald eagles and hummingbirds. Lobster boats are out early and gorgeous sailboats sail by on their way to Acadia and back. The experience there is perfect for families who want to relax, recharge and experience the rustic beauty of Maine’s coast.

Stayed Jun 28, 2025This was our second stay at Black Point, and it certainly held up very well to our strong memories of the place. Roomy, amazing location with an expansive beach, well appointed. It worked very well for four adults and one small dog. We would love to return!

Stayed Jul 5, 2025We chose Black Point Hideaway for its stunning, private location and in particular the sandy beach, and we weren't disappointed. The house is large and well appointed, and the beach was incredible... perfect for reading on the rocks, swimming (if you're up for some seriously cold water), and putting in kayaks. Note that the house is remote, which we loved, but it is a 25-minute drive to get to the village of Stonington, restaurants, etc.

Stayed Sep 28, 2024The property was exactly as pictured. We were 6 people and there was plenty of room and comfortable chairs. The beach access was steep at the stairs but there was a path at the side that was easy. We launched our kayak from the beach without any problems. I would stay there again.

Stayed Aug 12, 2023We had the best time at Blackpoint Hideaway. The home has a well appointed kitchen, ample room for quality time indoors and outside with a large group, and is sited on the most spectacular spot on Deer Isle. We had lobsters and swam in the tidal pool, and enjoyed the breathtaking beauty of the Maine coast. Would love to return again to this absolutely magical home in a heartbeat. Thank you for such a fantastic stay!!

Stayed Jul 1, 2023If you are interested in a classic Maine Coastal Cabin Vacation book Black Point Hideaway. The cabin was beautifully located on a private point with private beach. Spectacular views of coastal islands, lobster boats and the rise and fall of the tides were right outside the door. We enjoyed a lobster boil on the rocks outside the back porch, visits from deer in the morning and seclusion. The kitchen is reasonably equipped, we were able to grab a good book off the bookshelf and relax on the back porch.
