Family getaway for Christmas at this cabin was a big hit. Plenty of room, great location. Will definitely be back.
The cabin has a great layout and location, but when we got there the cleaning crew was still there an hour after check in, the house was smoked out from the oven being in cleaned, they left the sheets drying in the dryer, years of cobwebs were on the windows all the windows were left open and on in the bathroom would not lock , I had to tie the door shut for everyone to feel safe. I would rather nothing than to say anything bad but for the price of this cabin these things need to be addressed
I should’ve dove deeper into the reviews. We booked this property because the listing clearly states there are 6 satellite TVs, working internet, a pool table, and a swim-able lake. Upon arrival the TVs and Wi-Fi didn’t work. This was important for my husbands line of work. We reached out to the owner she said, “that’s never been the case.” However when we pressed her on the listing she said, “I don’t know what to tell you” and hung up on us. We called her back 7 times and no answer, full voicemail and no returned call. So we text her to at least find out how to set up the internet. No reply. Because we checked in on a business day, we had to leave because we could not work. Additionally we couldn’t stay because the lake was full of vegetation. You cannot swim off this dock or fish. The worst part in all of this is that VRBO is basically saying, “this is between you and owner.” But the owner will not return our calls. So the VRBO book with confidence is also a lie. Even though the property was misrepresented, they will not refund the booking. We have filed a claim with American Express. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS LISTING! Or VRBO for that matter. While you are their client, they will not protect you in a case like this. Ripping people off is a sad way to live! Choose another property and do not use VRBO.
Great place to stay with family!!!
Cabin was very nice and also convenient with the Dollar store accross the street. Overall we had a good time.
We loved big Big Nate’s ! It had a lot of space , a beautiful dock , a ramp for your boat or jetskis and a nice flat driveway . We will definitely stay at this property again . We enjoyed nightly fires in the huge outdoor fireplace area too .
We really enjoyed our stay at Big Nate's! Our family (ranging 80 to 8 years old) enjoyed the house and the property. We were even rained in one day, and there was plenty of room! We collectively decided we would like to return...but especially in the warmer months so we could take advantage of the water more!
Nice, roomy cabin with convenient Dollar General across the street. Enjoyed the outdoor fireplace and nice back yard.
It was the coldest days of the year and the lake was frozen, but the kids loved breaking up the ice! It was perfect for our families that gathered at Christmas. When the water pipe busted because of the cold, the managers came right away and fixed it up so we could continue to stay. It would be perfect for summertime when you could enjoy the lake and swimming!
The cabin is beautiful, great spaces, nice lake view located in great area. Need some repairs, the main bathroom toilet is not working properly (no water), main kitchen faucet handle sprinkle water when you open it , basement 2nd bathroom toilet is lose (it moves when you seat on it)
The view are beautiful! The lake, the mountains, the cabin, it was so nice. We (12 of us) stayed here for 5 days and was accommodated very well. Cabin completely stocked with everything you could ever need on 2 floors. Ready to go back again!!
Our family was very excited for this vacation, unfortunately we didn't stay 30 minutes at the property before leaving. 1) Location is on the corner of a busy intersection at the very southern most tip of the lake. That is a clue that when the water management authority reduces the level of the lake it is overgrown with plant life to the point the dock is unusable for swimming and fishing and the water is well, eewwww..... In addition, the water trampoline was not anchored in the lake as advertised. 2) Dock was missing several of the flotation devices under the walkway and ramp and the guardrails were worn and not secure. Several of the dock boards were in poor shape and generally felt unsafe for our children. 3) The exterior grounds were unkept with outdoor furniture that was in poor shape. There was trash on the property including an old washing machine and old conference room chairs under the porch. The grill was not near the house and frankly seemed on one of the adjacent properties. 4) The inside of the home was dusty, contained large spider webs in the windows in the den and had a musty smell. It was clear that the house had settled, with the significant level changes in the den. 5) Sheets in one of the bedrooms were stained and the upstairs fridge had several broken shelves. The toilet seat in one bathroom was also unhinged. 6) Owner was unresponsive when we contacted them after arriving. When they did respond they were difficult and resorted to berating. The only good thing we can say about the property is the inside of the home was orderly.
Plenty of room for large families! Relaxing, fun and plenty to do without leaving the property.
Everyone had a terrific time
We have a family reunion every year down in the area and always stay on the lake! This home was perfect for my kids (18, 15 and 11) and my sister with her 3 kids (10, 3 and 8 months). Home was very clean and inviting. The downstairs efficiency kitchen was perfect for my sister to easily tend to her little ones without having to go up and down the stairs. The canoes, kayaks and water trampoline were icing on the cake! We look forward to staying next year!
We had such a wonderful time with our family staying at Big Nate this summer. The home was able to accommodate all three generations of family members with enough privacy for all. Although it’s located on a busy road, we found it to be rather quiet at night without any difficulties with traffic noise. The location was perfect as we were able to be nearby other family members. Our host Shirley was so accommodating in getting back to us with any messages we sent during our stay. We can’t thank her enough for all that she does to maintain her beautiful properties. We will definitely be returning in the future!
This place was amazing- great for kids- loved the trampoline and slide. We would love to stay there again.
Nice yard to lake and easy access to town. And Dollar General just across the road?
One owner started yelling at my eighty year old Dad while he was sitting on the porch while the other Owner came in the house without warning or notice did not knock just walked in and said we need to know how many people are staying here. We did not exceed nightly occupancy. The owner also said it was a shared boat ramp we were blocking and we had too many vehicles parked on premises with the max being 4 for a 12 person cabin. The amenities are not as they are described and the owners were unfortunately rude. It ruined the last day we had. Some of the family left due to getting so upset at the confrontational approach that was used.
