We loved it here! The cabin is very clean. They have kayaks, a canoe and lake toys for the kids. They told us to have whatever was in the fridge. Towels and toiletries were also provided. The lake was amazing for my kids at 6 and 2, shallow and beachy. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Easy to find. Close to food stores & gas. The Lake is quiet and serene. The house was perfect size and had all that we needed in the kitchen and more. Easy to contact owner with questions. We enjoyed swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing right from the property. The south facing yard could accommodate sun and shade all day long. We had many nights around the fire pit and gazing at the stars. Be sure to visit Baldwin canoe rentals (5 minutes away) for a trip down the Pere- Marquette river.
We enjoyed our time here. My wife and two kids (7 and 10) liked the home, the yard, and the lake. We appreciated the kayaks and fishing boat, and used them quite a bit. It would be excellent to see stand-up paddleboards offered in the future. The kitchen is well-equipped and in conjunction with the outdoor grill, allowed us to easily cook many meals while there. Little extras, such as well-stocked offering of sandwich bags, made it easy for us to pack to-go lunches for our trips away from the home. It is worth noting that there is no Wi-Fi, no TV channels offered, and spotty cell service (depending upon your carrier). This was great for us, as we were looking to disconnect, but in this day I can see how many people would expect these things — whether they need them or not ;-). There is a TV and DVD player, as well as some DVDs at the home and a RedBox DVD rental in Baldwin. Overall, we'd be happy to stay here again!
We had so much fun! It is hard to find pet friendly rentals for two dogs. The owner let us pay an extra pet fee so we could have both of them with us. We wanted to spend time with our almost 13 year old dog at a lake where he could swim and take in the sun, like he did when he was young. We know there won't be many more times like these. The water in the shower was a little wonky (went back and forth from colder to hotter), but not a deal breaker at all, just something to be aware of. Our other dog discovered minnows in the water and spent hours trying to catch them. She snored all night long! We swam, jumped off the dock, and used the boats. THANK YOU! for sharing your home with us. I don't know how long you will rent your place out, but if it's still available, we will be back for sure!!
Cabin was cozy and relaxing. Boats were clean and in good working order. Beach had plenty of sand for kids to play. Chairs were provided on the beach, however three of the seven chairs present had a broken back. The lake had a clean bottom the length of the dock, then a deep seaweed-y drop off. We caught 10+ inch bass from the dock, 15 incher farther out on boat. Property was well kept, Even though we brought our own, It looked like there was a small amount of wood provided. The cabin is smaller and older than it appears in the photos, but that didn't take away from my experience. Shower was a bit rudimentary. In addition, there was no happy-medium water temp. It was either scalding hot, or cold. We also had a mouse scurrying across the living room. I notified the host, who apologized and mentioned it was the first he had heard of a mouse problem. I went out and purchased mouse traps and took care of the problem myself. I feel that this is an issue possibly beyond the owners control (and its an upnorth cabin) but if you are going to require a 5 day stay, and I'm paying you 1100 dollars, I shouldn't have to deal with mice rummaging through my kids bags. Furthermore, if I am having a mice problem and am paying for a clean and accomidating home, there should be more than sorry about the hassle from the host. This is an awesome up-north get away.
Loved it. Will definitely return. Very relaxing and comfortable. Only downfall is check in isn't until 4 which is too late and check out is 10am to early. But overall best place ever!
This experience could not have been better. My wife and I rented this cabin for a mini honeymoon and we were both beyond impressed with every aspect. The lake was beautiful, the location was secluded, and the cabin itself was amazing. Everything was well maintained and the rowboat and kayaks were icing on the cake! The owner was also more accomodating than I could ever expect, he even left a bottle of wine for us to celebrate our marriage! We will definitely be back next year for our anniversary!
