Welcome to Creel Lodge, a beautifully appointed cabin on Mountaintown Creek in Ellijay, GA. If you are looking to fly-fish and snag some rainbow and brook trout, experience solitude in the North Georgia mountains, or just a relaxing, fun weekend with family and friends… Creel Lodge is the place for you.

Ninety minutes door-to-door from Atlanta, the final approach to the cabin takes you through quaint farmland and protected woods. Don’t plan on unpacking the car straight away because you’ll want to explore the huge game room and hot tub; and then race down to the river to check out the rushing water, huge boulders, and calm fishing pools.

This authentic, Chinook log cabin is bright and spacious offering three levels for you to spread out and take advantage of the abundant amenities and the charming decor (think Pottery Barn & Rustic Chic). You’ll enjoy the large, screened porch surrounded by the sounds of nature – the river, the birds, and the mountain breezes.

Whether you’re looking for a place known for incredible fly fishing, watching the kids float on tubes in the river, or enjoy some down time to read a book and warm your feet by the fire... you’ll feel at home here at Creel Lodge. The private enclave encompasses nearly three acres of beautiful, pristine property with 600 feet on Mountaintown Creek... It's actually a river and our property is the largest parcel in the area. Truly a family-friendly Fisherman’s Retreat.

Kids of all ages can tube, canoe, or kayak. For an even bigger adventure, the Cartecay and Ocoee rivers provide challenging whitewater, and the Lower Toccoa River is ideal for a casual half-day float on tubes or kayaks. When you schedule your outing, ask the outfitter about the timing of the dam release if you want swifter water on the Toccoa.

Nearby activities include hiking, horseback riding, apple orchard hayrides, wineries, plus small town shopping and great dining options in both Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

Without a doubt, you’ll join the many repeat guests to Creel Lodge… we know you’ll love the luxurious simplicity, rustic charm, and unparalleled comfort.

Please note: Fishing is highly regulated in our community. It is imperative that all guests respect the community guidelines.
1) All anglers must have a valid Georgia fishing license
2) Catch & release with fly rods only

We strive to maintain a healthy trout population. The property owners along this section of Mountaintown Creek are committed to preserving and protecting the trout contained in these waters which are stocked by the small community of homeowners.

Therefore, fishing is limited to fly rods with trout flies having single, barbless hooks. Spinning rods and lures with treble hooks are prohibited. Fishing with corn or worms is not allowed. These bait products and barbed hooks make it impossible to release the fish without harming them. Fish caught should be handled minimally and returned to the water as quickly and gently as possible.

If you have a larger group, consider renting one of the neighboring properties. An ideal setting for a family reunion or corporate retreat. We’d love to hear from you and discuss your vacation plans in our home away from home. Happy to send more pictures and answer any questions to make your vacation one to remember.

The cabin was probably the best all around out of my many stays in North GA. Everything was labeled throughout the house very nicely. It was a cozy, very clean cabin and everything worked as it should have. The pool table and ques were in great condition which always seems to be a hit or miss thing with most cabins. The hot tub was very nice and well maintained. Only a few negatives which to us were not that big of a deal. The parking area was hard for a larger truck to turn around. The descent down and climb back up from the river is a little steep but take your time and it’s fine. Also as avid fishermen we were really hoping to see and catch some trout, but they were nowhere to be found. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely stay there again.

We had an amazing stress, free getaway. The cabin is magical in its own way. We had plenty of on-site activities to keep us busy when we were not hiking the nearby mountains. The view is top-tier. We can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend with our three young kids, and we had an amazing time. The cabin was impeccably clean and soooo charming. There were super detailed instructions for working things like the fireplaces, which I appreciated. Several games/puzzles that our older kids enjoyed too. The location feels very secluded and private, and it’s in such a lovely spot. We would definitely stay here again

Megan was so great and we appreciated her opening her home to us. The home was clean and better than we could imagine! The most picturesque views could be seen from the huge porches. The kids loved the river and fire pit. We spent nights playing pool and sitting in the hot tub. Best family vacation getaway!
