If you decide to stay home, there is still plenty of adventure to be found right in your yard. Look for the elk that like to rest amongst the rose brambles on the south side of the yard! Or explore the romantic old double swing or various little sitting areas around the property. Or just sit on the deck and keep an eye out for passing raccoons, javelina, deer, elk, fox, turkey, weasels, all kinds of birds...and even an occasional visit from a mountain lion or bear!
The master features the most romantic skylight for all-night star gazing! An antique window set high in the wall casts a warm glow when the living room fire is going! Skylights offer plenty of light and a glimpse of the ponderosa pines right outside. You can even watch out the kitchen window while prepping dinner for the resident raccoon or elk wandering through the back yard!
In the sunroom: Kick back and read one of the many antique books that describe the local flora and fauna! This room is all double paned windows and insulted; the evap cooler reaches into there and there is an AC in there that you can utilize should you desire. ♟️New and vintage/antique games in the cabinet! Horseshoes and Corn Hole set on Shed Patio.
The town of Payson, located about 15 miles to the west, offers loads of wonderful restaurants, antique shops and grocery stores. Be sure to grab your groceries on the way up!
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our unique, rural area, we are on SEPTIC. We must insist a limit of 6 adults book for this property! Inquire BEFORE booking about your particular situation to be sure this will be a good fit for your family. Owner reserves the right to deny bookings where the capacity exceeds the service's capabilities. Be aware that this is in the FOREST; you will see critters, insects and experience possible power/internet outages. If this isn't something you are OK with, please book a hotel in Payson.
This was the perfect getaway from the valley for the weekend. Home was stocked with everything you may need, a jacuzzi to warm up in, the owner was very quick to respond and the area was beautiful. This is the perfect getaway for couples as there are separate spaces, but if you all want to be together there’s plenty of space to play games, enjoy a meal or watching the stars. The creek is adjacent to the houses on the other side of the road but not accessible unless you go to the main road by the lodge. We will definitely be booking this beautiful space again soon!
The cottage was clean, cozy and cool. Loved the front deck for the cool breeze, reading, relaxing, and eating. Only complaint would be too many trinkets on counters and cabinets taking up usable guest space.
My dog was in paradise during this entire stay. The whole family enjoyed it thoroughly. Only con was the outside furniture was covered in dust/pollen but they provided blankets to cover. It was lovely.
Very pleasant cottage! Surroundings are wonderful. Well stocked with needs, and great washer and dryer.
Great location for the lakes and hiking
such a relaxing vacation!
Applecross Cottage was a great place for our family to relax and unwind. There was plenty of room inside for the four of us to watch TV, eat meals and hang out during summer rains. On sunny days, the deck was a great spot to read and listen to the creek, and our dogs loved exploring the beautiful yard.
Very cute property and Host was very available to answer questions and let us know about storms in the area. The lower bedroom worked perfectly for the other couple with us - although the lower bedroom could use a few more upgrades to match the main part of the house.
The only reason for 4 stars for the property was the elk scat! :) Cant help that can we? ;) I thought my dog had reindeer candy! If you have a pet note the yard is fenced in, if you close the gate. I figured that out the last night. The cabin held four adults no problem and everything worked just fine! Brand new deck too! Decorated with a Swedish folklore theme (thats what the others tell me). Excellent location and I highly recommend! Ron A.
