Andrews River Haven - Todd NC Log Cabin Rentals
Andrew's River Haven is one of our most fun homes with all the amenities that a rental should have to make it the best vacation your family has ever enjoyed. Not only is the cabin beautiful, but it has been decorated with lovely mountain themes in both furniture and accessories. With over 100 feet of river frontage, it has a beautiful view of both the river meandering down the valley and also a mountain view of pastures and mountains in the distance. It is rare to have both river frontage and a view, but this house has both. You can fish, tube, canoe, splash, and in some areas swim the New River. You will love this.
The house is also located on the historic Railroad Grade Road, known for its flat roads following the river bed where you can bike or walk for over 10 miles and enjoy incredible views and peace- winter or summer. You can ride to Todd and have lunch or stop at the corner store for a picnic and take it with you, visiting the numerous beautiful spots along the river. This is a rare and unique area that offers little development while only 10 minutes to Boone or the Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 minutes to the ski slopes or Blowing Rock and still a hop, skip and a jump to scenic routes to all the tourist attractions - we even provide an extensive list of favorites that need to be visited while in this area.
First let's talk about the amenities. The house has been tastefully decorated and has been thoughtfully furnished with a good selection of entertainment in foosball tables, ping pong table and an Xbox360, just bring your favourite games. All the bedrooms are decorated with a mountain theme and so have a 'cozy factor' of 9. As it sits on the course of the old railroad, it is one of the most popular roads in the region for cycling along (11 miles from end to end) both for diehards with lightweight multi-gear machines + appropriate apparel, to those who wish just to meander and take in the magnificent natural beauty of the surroundings. An early morning walk/bike/jog from Andrew's River Haven when the river mist is about is an experience to savor.
Andrew's features a rare-in-these-parts large flat lot that fronts the river and has had some pleasant landscaping done so you can wander down the garden path to the river's edge for tubing, splashing, fishing or just sitting there in the shallows in a camp chair and a nice glass of Chardonnay. There is also a circular fire-pit that is surrounded by Adirondack chairs. Sitting with family or a bunch of pals around a roaring out-door fire will be a memory you will take away with you more than any other. Within the giant rear lot is a 3' fenced-in dog lot that allows your furry family members a chance to stretch their legs without fear of them wandering off. There is a gas grill there, as well.
The exterior has a rocking chair porch on the covered deck and an outside dining table for looking at the view and enjoying a family dinner. Want more peace Go to the front covered porch with its own rockers and view.
The interior with its hardwood floors and wooden chinked walls is beautifully decorated with all the furniture from the NC furniture manufacturers, complemented by lovely linens, pillow top mattresses, goose down quilts, local artist's paintings of mountain scenes, and the whole mountain atmosphere. With 3 bedrooms and a loft, the bedrooms have 2 kings and one queen, while the loft has a queen bed and 1 single for waking up looking out over the river.
In the winter, the stone gas fireplace with beautiful wood mantel allows you to cuddle up and watch TV with the Amazon Fire stick, the fire, or possibly the snow falling. Even if you are inside, you can still see the river and go fishing if you are brave enough. While only 11 miles to Boone, you are close to all the tourist attractions and 20 minutes to App ski slope.
This is a house that we think offers everything for your vacation fun and enjoyment. Come and have a great time! Broker Interest

This property has the potential to be awesome, but I feel like it has not been maintained like I have come to expect from vacation homes. There were too many concerns to be overlooked and I was disappointed. My grandchildren loved the place. If they fix the protruding nail in the steps leading into the basement. Get the dishwasher fixed and fix the broken stand/ leg on the TV . Also if you use game room as a selling point- you should have the game room up to par. Disappointed ? it’s not a bad property, just poorly maintained. I would recommend getting clarification from rental company to make sure the issues were resolved before renting. Sadly it could have been so much better. Nice looking home and comfortable beds though. Not all bad/ just needs to have some extra work done to get it back to its full potential
Location and the yard was great. We wanted a place to hang out with things to do (not drive around to find entertainment) and this was it. Biking along the river was really pretty BUT there is a lot of fast traffic on the narrow road. I would not ride alone or let kids ride at all if they are below middle school age. We enjoying riding to Todd to visit the bakery (open on the weekends). The game room is in the basement (concrete floor) and has a separate wall heater which takes the chill off. Don't plan to have people spread out and sleep down there. The game equipment was a huge draw and while we had fun with it, it needs some upkeep. Only one cue stick for pool. Darts were unusable. Half of the air hockey table doesn't have air. Ping pong paddles flap, net doesn't stand up. Fire pit furniture needs replacing (you can't really sit, just perch on the edges). Hot tub was clean but the seat has a large chipped away spot. Overall, we enjoyed our time. The house has a lot of potential, but it needs some love and attention.
We had an amazing time at Andrew's River Haven. The cabin is very spacious. The outside furniture is very enjoyable. Absolutely loved being on the river. It was a great time and we hope to visit again next year!!
Very nice place with great views. Beautiful yard. Need to fix icemaker and secure a step on the front. We would stay here again!
The cabin was cozy and felt like home away from home. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the River even though the water was freezing in June. The cabin was within a short distance to different attractions and stores. The only negatives I would say is the game room needs some upgrades. This was a big draw for us to keep the teenagers entertained and some of the equipment doesn’t work properly. Also, we had to hunt around the cabin for more towels. Only 4 sets were placed in the bathrooms and we had 7 people in our party. Lastly, and most disappointing for me was the hot tub was not clean. It has not been properly maintained. I had planned on spending a few romantic evenings with my girlfriend in the hot tub, but couldn’t do that. Other than those things, we had a fantastic time. My kids want to stay there again next year.
My family had a peaceful, relaxing time at Andrew's New River Haven. We enjoyed sitting by the New River, relaxing in the hot tub, hanging out on the porches, and comfy couches. We appreciated that there's a 3' fence for giving our dogs some time to run around, as well as gates at the top of the deck stairs to keep them on the decks. Todd is a great location--close to Boone and West Jefferson, plus the Blue Ridge Parkway and parks for hiking. I loved hearing all the Spring Peepers and toads in the evenings.
WE loved the location and overall great family get away. If I had to say one thing negative, it would be the water pressure is not strong enough. I honestly don't know if that is something they could fix. You can't go wrong with this rental.
Our stay went exactly as planned with no hassles or unexpected delays or mishaps. Just a little FYI there was varies bulbs out that would have made the lightening just a little better, pool table 1 bulb out, corner lamp, 1 bulb out and a few bulbs in the string of lights around the hot tub. This did not disrupt our stay just letting someone know so the can be replaced. The property and home was well equipped and the beds were comfortable.
Property management is very easy to get in touch with when you have a question or concerns. Beautiful view.
The weather forecast had been calling for freezing temperatures so we contacted management to make sure everything was OK at the day before out check in. We were assured everything was good with the cabin. We loaded up and drove over 8 hours to arrive to a note on the counter from the cleaning person saying there was no water since 6pm. For 22 hours before our arrival it was known that there was water in the house. The dishes, toilets and showers were all dirty. The was no water in the tanks of the toilets. We had to find an open gas station on Christmas Eve to use after arrival. We stayed the night on sheets that we are not sure were even washed. We had to leave the next morning and drive home for over 8 hours on Christmas Day. Countless hours planning the trip and things to do in the area, wasted money on gas, supplies and time off work. We know the weather was not anyone's fault but the lack of preparing the house for the freeze (running a tap) and lack of communication (could have saved us all of that driving) is infuriating.
The cabin and surroundings were beautiful. We enjoyed our visit and would love to go back one day.
Great location with beautiful views. Family really enjoyed the house and game room. We loved this house.
We have rented this house several times over the years and it never disappoints. Our oldest son is in his first year at App St. This house is a quick trip to campus. We will definitely stay many more times in the coming years.
This property was absolutely perfect. The fenced in backyard was great for our smaller children. The property backs up to the river and we spent all weekend in and out of the water. We will be booking this home again for our next getaway!
It was ok
A good time was had be all at Andrew's River Haven. Property was accurately depicted in listing and reviews. Beds were comfortable. Location was convenient should you want or need anything.
Clean, beautiful house. Comfy beds. Awesome game room (although the pool table needs some love :) )! Had an issue with the dryer, but BRMR fixed it very quickly. Fantastic back deck! Would have liked more seating near the river, but such a great place!!
Love the location and size of this property. Gaming room was a bonus and right on a beautiful river. Will come back!
