Homer, Alaska
New, beautiful, Scandinavian-influenced, cozy, 360 sq ft one-room cabin --a "tiny house"-- is modern, with all of the amenities needed for your perfect weekend getaway or week-long stay in Homer. Located next to the owners' house, tucked away from the road, on an acre and a half in a subdivision overlooking Homer, the views are fabulous of Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, and the volcanoes. Few places in Homer have views of both Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet. Hardwood floors and Jøtul "wood" (gas) stove give the cabin a warm and cozy feeling. Majestic large windows bring the views into the cabin.
NOTE: Due to the concerns of the spread of the Coronavirus, we have relaxed our cancellation policy. A healthy community is our primary concern. We will also guarantee that cleaning and laundering will be done in accordance to the CDC guidelines. You are able to check-in and check-out with no contact with your hosts. Your hosts have also been fully vaccinated.
The cabin is consistent with the "tiny house" concept, providing everything you need efficiently in a small space. Beautifully decorated with a modern, Scandinavian design.
The one-room cabin sleeps two in a queen-sized bed. Our insurance does not allow usage of the loft. The luxurious cotton sheets, down pillows and comforter make this bed truly comfortable.
Ask about the possibility for extra guests. We have a Pack-and-Play for your baby or toddler, two thick foam twin mattresses. An extra fee of $40 per stay per person is charged for more than two people.
The kitchen is fully-equipped with a two-burner stove, a small refrigerator, microwave, counter-top oven, coffee pot, and electric tea kettle. All of the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils you need are provided. There is no dishwasher.
There is a full bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. The dining room table seats six people comfortably.
The cabin is located a 2 minute walk from a sandhill crane nesting area. From May into September, except when they are nesting in late June and early July, sandhill cranes can be seen overhead, walking along the street, or strolling through our property. Moose are regularly seen year-round walking though the property or in the neighborhood as well as eagles perched in the trees by the cabin. A walk on the streets in the neighborhood and an undeveloped subdivision offers majestic views of Kachemak Bay. When you are ready to walk the beach, go out to eat, get some groceries, or explore Homer, it is a short drive to downtown Homer (3 miles) and another ten minutes to the Homer Spit and Harbor for fishing, kayaking, and boating or bike riding on the Homer Spit Trail.
We have fast WiFi and good cellular coverage in the cabin. There is no TV.
Take your breakfast or dinner outside on the deck to enjoy the spectacular views and at some times of the year fantastic sunsets over Cook Inlet with views of the volcanoes.
Coffee and teas are provided for your convenience.
Pets are no longer allowed.
We welcome all people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, political viewpoints, religion, and all LGBTQIA.

Little heaven getaway on the hill. Very welcome cozy space with magnificent views. Loved walking in the morning to the big windows seeing the moose and the sea off in distance. The hosts are fabulous and a joy to talk to. In the evenings we went for walks from the cabin and the views you see around every bin are special. We had a great stay at this location. The space was just as advertised and we had the added bonus of having a moose come thru the yard during our stay. The communication with the host was excellent
We had a wonderful stay at the Sandhill Crane Cabin! It is a beautiful cabin with a great location, and the hosts have done such a wonderful job with the design, decor and all the thoughtful touches they have added. It has awesome views out the huge windows, and everything was so nice and clean and luxurious. Helen and Charlie are awesome hosts! So friendly and helpful, and so quick to respond to our inquiries. They truly wanted our stay to be perfect, and it was!! We would go back in a heartbeat!
Beautiful cabin & nice views.
Wonderful place to stay! Friendly people and beautiful property!
The property was in an excellent location. Fabulous views of the mountains, volcano & Homer Spit. Easy access to everything but in a country setting. The hosts live in their own home on property. This allowed answers to quick questions and nice conversations.
Really enjoyed the place and time with my wife. The morning coffee and sunlight made the start of the day really easy. Room darkening blinds were great to help dim the ‘midnight sun’ of AK. The place was peaceful and quiet, making for an easy nights rest. The property owners communicated all the help we needed to make the journey fabulous. Even got a text advising of a momma moose with twins were outback. Rushed home to capture a glimpse from about 15yds away. Truly a great host and location!
