Alma, Colorado
This amazing cabin has everything you need to enjoy the mountains. The views are stunning from the living room and the deck. The neighborhood is quiet but we’re only 20 miles from the energy and noise of Breckenridge. We have a stocked kitchen and an incredible home for you to enjoy. It sleeps up to 8. In the master there’s a king bed, a twin bed and an air mattress in the closet. In the other upstairs bedroom there are 2 twins and a trundle (so 3 twins total). In third bedroom there’s a queen bed. In the basement there’s a queen sleeper sofa and 2 couches.
Enjoy world-class fishing, skiing/boarding, hiking, mountain biking, gold panning and relaxing in and around Fairplay and Alma. The town is quiet and slow, which is one of the things we like about it.
Must have 4WD or AWD in months with potential for snow (October - April). Cabin is in high alpine environment -check with your doctor if you have had issues with altitude in the past.
This was a lovely get away for our family before the summer ended. The warning about needing 4 wheel drive in winter is no joke. But the crazy path to the house was worth it. Very clean and comfortable. Super cozy and wells stocked for those that want to cook for their family. Would love to go back.
We had a wonderful family weekend. The property was just as the description noted. We felt the place was clean and well maintained. Instructions were very clear. My toddler loved exploring the area around the cabin. Loved how secluded and quiet the area felt. We will be returning to this cabin!!
Loved it, needed time away from the hustle and craziness of town and work. Directions to the property that was given by owner was extremely helpful and easy to find. Would definitely recommend.
Let me start by saying this property is pretty high in elevation. We are from elevations of no more than 1000' above sea level. We had a total of 7 people in our group. Everyone except two of us acclimated quite easily. The other two have underlying health issues, so it made our stay at this cabin impossible. We had to leave early. I just wanted to start with this so that I could explain the stay we did have. The drive up to the cabin was a little rough, but if you take it slow it really is not that bad. The directions that were given took us right to the cabin and overall it was just a nice little drive. The cabin is not far from town at all, and easily accessible to a grocery store, convenient stores, and the cutest little town with shopping. When we pulled up to the cabin it was so nice and clean, as well as a beautiful view from the deck area. Inside we had everything we needed plus more. This cabin has a really nice set up. We had two different families in our group and there was more than enough room. It was almost like one family could have upstairs and one family could have down stairs. Even though we stayed in June, it was still chilly out at night. The fireplace was perfect. When I left Oliver know that we might not complete our stay due to the family members having issues acclimating, he offered options that past guest have used and pointers for the high elevation. Once I let him know it was more than likely due to underlying health issues, he understood and knew it was probably more than needing extra oxygen. Checking out was simple and easy. There was a small list of asks upon checking out. I let him know once we left and he still was in contact with me a couple days after to see how the family members having issues were doing. He even let me know if he was able to book the property on the days we left early he would refund some of our money. It was such a short notice that I knew it would likely not happen, I still thought that was so great of him to go through the trouble of changing our dates and trying to do that for us. If this owner had other properties I would book with him before anyone else. Even though our stay was cut short due to our own reasons, the experience was great with the check in, cabin, and check out.
Very Comfortable
This was the perfect mountain getaway for a group of friends or family! We planned to stay at the cabin for most of the trip and found plenty to do. The main living space was great for meal times, card games and catching up. We spent one day sledding which was a blast! We also saw wild life right in the backyard. Our group did travel to Keystone for an afternoon of skiing and was only a 1 hr drive. I cannot recommend this place enough and Oliver was a great host.
My family and I had a great time! This is the perfect place to spend time away from everything but close enough to go out for fun activities with the family. The cabin is beautiful and well maintained. Oliver was a great host! He stayed in constant communication with me to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay there. Yes, we will definitely share our experience with friends and other family and come back again.
We’ve traveled to CO a few times the past few summers for hiking/relaxing and this place was a fantastic “home base” for us to spend time getting away from it all. Lovely home and owner communication was awesome. Five star all around, even with a rainy week for our stay!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Alma, Colorado. So many things to do. We toured Fairplay and South Park for a couple of days and then went into Colorado Springs to God's Garden and went and played mini golf. Next day we caught a fishing Charter through Big Ed's (Dillon Reservoir) and caught a few rainbow trout, brought them back to the cabin and cooked them up! Next day we went back into Denver and caught a Rockies game! Also hit Buena Vista! A beautiful drive no matter which direction and added 1000 miles on our rental vehicle. :) This place was perfect for us cause it was central for all of the places we wanted to go. Owners are Super Nice and communication was great! 5-Stars all around. Hope to come back sometime very soon! Thanks, the Moneypenny's!
Quiet, comfortable cabin with everything you need to enjoy some time with friends and family. My 4-year old loved the foosball table and watching movies. Take the roads leading to cabin very slow. They can be a little rough. We had a wonderful time in the cabin and will keep it in mind, if we make that way again. The owner, Oliver, was easy to get ahold of if questions and very helpful.
