Location Location Location!
Located in the quiet Ocona Lake Estates community, just off Highway 19 between Bryson City and Cherokee, the lodge is accessed by a one-lane, 2WD friendly gravel mountain road with occasional pull-outs for passing. While the drive itself is manageable for most guests, those unfamiliar with mountain driving should expect winding roads and elevated mountain terrain typical of the area. In winter months, 4-wheel drive and/or chains are recommended in case of snow, but are not required otherwise. Please note that the property itself does not have direct river access. Community river access is located about a 5-minute walk from the lodge.

Security: For safety reasons, there is a ring style exterior security camera that is not monitored but records video and sound 24/7. The camera is motion-activated and overlooks the entrance and driveway to the lodge.

A great home and a great host! 8 adults stayed and we had plenty of room to spread out or get some quite time. Very clean, well stocked kitchen, extra linens/TP etc. throughout the house, and the labeling/instructions of lots of things is helpful. Primary bed, very comfortable (felt new) and our guests indicated the other beds were also great. Road is curvy, not hard to drive, just go slow. Host is communicative and ensured we had everything we needed. 12 minutes to Harrah's, approx. 1hr to Asheville.Quiet and great view of the river. Absolutely will stay again if we need a large house.

Our stay at the Miller Family Lodge was great! The house was comfortable and just what we needed for our family of 14. The beds were comfortable and fit all our ages from 8 months- 77 years of years. We brought my Dad for his 77 year old birthday to ride the Smokey Mountain Railroad. The view was beautiful and the house was in between Bryson and Cherokee perfect for our stay. Mr. Gene communicated right away and was a great host. He made sure we didn’t have any problems when we arrived and was available if we needed him. I hope to stay again in the future.

Amazing host and owner! Communication was wonderful prior to our travels and during our stay. Perfect for our group and truly enough space for everyone. The amenities are great as well! The men on our trip spent HOURS at a time in the game room. Enjoyed coffee and breakfast each morning on the porch! Would recommend!

We needed a house larger enough for 10 people that was also wheelchair accessible. This home was perfect! We enjoyed the hot tub, game room and all of the well thought out amenities. The road to the home is a one-lane mountain pass. At first, we were nervous but after the second day of our seven day stay we were navigating it like a local. We had mistakenly locked ourselves out at one point. A text to the host and a very prompt reply fixed the issue within minutes.

Twenty years ago we came with our 5 kids to this area from Louisiana. It was their favorite vacation so they wanted to come back with their kids. So 10 adults and 9 grands found the Miller family lodge. It was everything all the prior reviews declared. It was perfect for our family and close to horseback riding, fly fishing, Biltmore, Dollywood, white water rafting and the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. The kids loved the bunk room and there were plenty of areas to congregate or find peace and quiet. Game room was great. Close walk to river where kids could also swim and fish. Road to and from was narrow but got more comfortable with each trip out and in. Kitchen was stocked better than any place we have ever stayed. It had anything you could need. Finally, Gene was terrific host and responded quickly to answer any questions. Highly recommend.

The Miller Family Lodge is beautiful! The home was clean and WELL stocked with all the basics. Our large, multi-generational group was comfortable and had plenty of space to be together - or apart! I think my husband's grandmother will tell everyone who will listen about how beautiful it was and how wonderful it was to have our family together for the foreseeable future. Whether you're planning to ride the GSMR or visit the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, this home is perfect.

We all loved Miller Family Lodge. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of bathrooms and an abundance of dishes, glasses, silverware, pans and seating. After having stayed at so many private homes that have just enough of everything, it was wonderful to have plenty of amenities. Gene was wonderful to work with and we wouldn't hesitate to rent here again. Beautiful.

Great place for a huge gathering. Would be nice to have access down into the river on the property. Had to drive or walk down the street. Road access is dirt road and single lane. Not too bad has section to stop and allow car to pass by. Host was responsive and helped with all the request ask.

Beautiful well kept property. we did have a few issues and reported them to the owner, but they couldn't be fixed during our four day Christmas stay which is to be understood. Nice property with very high end amenities and lots of games and things to keep everyone busy!

First let me say the cabin is very nice! The road to get to the cabin not so much but I guess that’s what you get with mountain cabins. Very narrow. Only room for one car to pass through. The bathrooms are a little odd to me. There’s 2 full bathrooms on the main floor and only 1 bedroom. There is 1 full bathroom and a half on the second floor with 4 bedrooms. Then in the ground floor you have another full bath and a half with 1 bedroom. We also had one of the ceiling fans in one of the upstairs bedrooms malfunction and we could not get the light or the fan to turn off. When I contacted the property manager I was told he could not get a maintenance person out there cause it was Sunday. It was difficult for my family to sleep in that room with the light on cause we couldn’t figure out how to even get the globe off to remove the light bulb cause it had a metal cage around the globe. We made the best of it and still had a great time! We went specifically to ride the Polar Express so the cabin was located approximately between Bryson City and Cherokee.

We loved our stay in this home! We were especially impressed with all the helpful little details like night lights in bedrooms and the small things that make being in a different house easier. I was thrilled with how well stocked the kitchen was with dishes and kitchen gadgets. It was easy for our large group to cook all our meals there. make

This property is fantastic! The layout allows for a lot of common space while also providing space for privacy. The kitchen was very well stocked and there were ample towels and blankets. The outdoor patio and deck had great seating. The hot tub was nice. The bunk beds are for kids only, our adults couldn't actually fit in them so keep that in mind if you're thinking you would share that room with your children! The house is truly wheelchair accessible, The elevator allowed my husband to access all floors of the house. The bathroom was very accessible for his wheelchair and there is a zero access shower with handrails. There are many things to do nearby whether it be hiking or shopping or just sitting by the river. I highly recommend this property!
