Stayed Oct 8, 2025Nice accommodations very clean and well kept. A minor thing: owner should consider unscented laundry detergent.

Stayed Sep 17, 2025Fairly rustic, but not overly so. The property was as expected. We found it comfortable. (The bed actually was comfortable!) Could use a dresser.

Stayed Sep 7, 2025Nice place to stay after a day of exploring South Dakota. A little small for 6 people, but we basically just needed a place to eat and sleep and we had no issues.

Stayed Aug 7, 2025Easy check in (key in lock box), great location, good amount of room for a short stay with 2 adults and 2 kids. I walked in the morning to the coffee shop (about a mile round trip). Custer is a very cool city with good restaurants. Stayed here to see Mount Rushmore, which is about 30 minutes away. This place has AC, which we needed (it was about 95 degrees when we were here). Great stay!

Stayed Jul 14, 2025We used Custer as our hub for traveling South Dakota sights. This stay was perfect! We had plenty of room for two parents and two kids. (Kids were happy not to share a bed--one took the futon, one took the pullout couch). They loved having the yard out from to swing and play tetherball. Crystal was super responsive and helpful with anything we needed. She also set us up with a binder of restaurant suggestions that made dining easy. Our experience was terrific!

Stayed Sep 11, 2024Very clean, easy to check in and out. Quiet neighborhood with easy access to all the Black Hills sites. All other visitors were quiet and considerate. Cabin is small and shower is very small. Listing is not clear about the actual size. Larger and/or physically challenged people might have difficulties. 6 adults in this space would be unpleasant.

Stayed Jul 13, 2024This was such a charming cabin, from the tasteful decor to the sparkling clean bathroom to the extra towels stocked on a shelf in case we needed more than 2. We really appreciated the welcome binder of information about Custer. Crystal included her # in case of any issues but we didn’t have any! Such a comfy stay, thank you Crystal!

Stayed Jul 7, 2024This was our first trip to Custer and we weren't sure what to expect. We stayed 4 nights in the Buffalo Cabin at Pondeosa Place. We loved it so much we wanted to rearrange the second part of our vacation and stay here longer. The cabins and property are modest but are meticulously cleaned and cared for. We were very surprised at how nice the inside of the cabin is. The furniture, bedding and kitchen all seem new. The entire inside was spotless. The owner is super friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. The property is just a couple of blocks from downtown. We walked to everything in town. The town of Custer has a fair share of restaurants, coffee shops and even a brew pub. It never felt crowded and everyone was really friendly. The surrounding area is jaw-droppingly beautiful. We have zero complaints about anything and are already planning our next visit to the Ponderosa Place.

Stayed May 18, 2024This property is small but fine for two people who were on the go most of the time. It could feel a little cramped if there were more people or as a place to stay for an extended period during the day. It is a few miles from Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore, so it was in a good spot for our adventures, and easy walking distance to the downtown area. It offered good, basic accommodations without any frills. We have no complaints.
