All of my expectations were blown out of the water. This has hands down been one of my favorite cabins to stay at. The Roost was practically spotless and well maintained. The bathroom didn't have any mildew, the bath was very clean though the shower curtain had some mold on it. The water heats up quickly. The build of the cabin is beautiful with many thoughtful details all around. You can get firewood on the way in, and they provide plenty of matches and some fire starter. Lots of blankets in the living room. The kitchen was well stocked in terms of pots and pans, spices, and cooking utensils, and foils/wrap. We had everything we needed to prepare all of our meals, and the appliances are all new and beautiful. There is a grill out on the deck, plus dining table. And a smaller deck connected to the master bedroom. We didn't use either. FYI: The den upstairs does not have blackout curtains. We only stayed downstairs (two people). You'll need to bring your own umbrellas in case of rain. Taking the garbage out to the dump was easy. No dishwasher, you'll need to wash any dishes you use. Communication was very easy and responsive whenever I had questions. Location is close to general stores and restaurants, and a close 20 min drive to the snow or state park. We really look forward to coming back. Made some beautiful memories here! Thank you so much for maintaining such a beautiful property.

Check-in was super easy. Loved it. Kitchen had enough to meet our needs for the three of us. Would have loved a Keurig coffee maker. Other than that, the kitchen was well supplied. The cabin was very, very clean. Linens supplies was very good. Fans provided cooled the house efficiently. It was a pleasant, comfortable stay.

We had a great time at the Roost Cabin. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck taking in the scenery. We loved the area and took several hikes at the nearby Calaveras Big Trees park and also drove up to Lake Alpine. We would definitely love to come to this cabin again.

Really enjoyed our stay at “The Roost!” Great access to lot’s of recreation activities. Communication with the owner was easy, and with quick responses. The cabin was well equipped, and the tastefully updated. Perfect place for 2 people; possibly 3. Any more than that it may be a bit cramped. We will certainly consider “The Roost” in the future .

The bed upstairs is way too small for 2 people and it would constantly squeak with any movement the air filter for the heater is in desperate need of changing also other than that we really enjoyed our time

These empty nesters loved having the entire family over for the Holidays. Then we took a little getaway to The Roost, just the two of us her skis and my snowboard. The cabin was perfect, for us. The exterior is unassuming, yet charming. The couches and bed were comfy. Everything in the cabin was easy to use, from the simple Frigidaire stove, to the Nest household thermostat and Roku TV (easy to login to our own streaming services.I wouldn't have guessed I'd like a black sink or faucet fixtures. But, they looked great here and worked like a charm, from the kitchen sink to the steamy warm shower, after fun days at Bear Valley. The ultimate question in a review is, would you come back? You bet we would!

Our stay in the cozy cabin was a good time of year to go. Very quiet so my wife and I enjoyed our time. A few things that would need an upgrade is the lighting as it needs a little more brighter lights, the Bar B Que grill was not used as I went to grill steaks and the last person before us did not bother to clean was disappointed. The big couch you definitely sink in to it. Overall it was a nice stay.

This was a great cabin. It was small and cozy yet big enough to enjoy. The decorations of this cabin made you feel right at home. Very clean and stocked well. It has a nice sized patio with a BBQ, table set and some chair. Communication was great quick response. I will definably be retuning to this cabin again for my next trip to the mountains.

This cozy cabin provided a great place to stay while hiking near Bear Valley. It was hot but the owner provided many fans to cool off the cabin. We enjoyed using the BBQ and deck for meals.

Out for a guy’s trip with a longtime friend. Great cabin enjoyed our stay. Owner was quick to respond with some minor issues that arose (mostly my fault). My second stay here and may stay again.
