The overall cleanliness of the cabin was great, but there were a couple of things we noticed during our stay: The smoke detector in the kitchen did not have a battery in it and beeped every 40 seconds as a result; Some of the lighting fixtures were either inoperable or powered off entirely, which made it difficult to navigate the cabin at night; the drain in the downstairs shower was backed up, causing the water to pool in the pan, and; the skylight in the upstairs bathroom was unable to fully shut, which allowed various insects to enter the interior (not the biggest deal, but we figured the owners might like to know).

Overall a lovely location - love the interior and the deck. We had a small pest issue the night we arrived, plus there were a couple random cleaning issues (puzzle pieces under one bed!). The management was quick to respond. One FYI is that there's a sharp left turn left from the driveway into the parking strip. It was scary and difficult to do in the dark. If you have great 4WD or are used to tight turns on an incline, it may not be an issue. Look in the guests binder for a cute hand-drawn surprise.

This is a cabin you can relax and feel right at home in. From the remarkable pine beds to the rustic pine staircase rails, this place has a cool vibe.

This cabin was nice and comfortable, except it was a little too warm. Loved the loft and especially the king sized bed. We enjoyed the outside deck in the evening.

While parking was challenging, the coziness of the cabin made up for this.

Great location near Arnold and Calavaras Big Trees. The cabin was set up well, the beds were very comfortable and showers worked great. Both the kitchen, bathrooms were clean upon arrival. However, I felt overall the cabin needs a very deep cleaning. I didn’t notice any smells, but there were so many items in the cabin that needed dusting. There was a thick layer of dust on top of the microwave under various items. I dropped an egg on the kitchen floor, the paper towel I used to clean came up filthy. The upstairs floor boards are really squeaky as well as the outside deck. As many have noted, the driveway is very scary. You can enter the driveway at the previous house number and this will take you parallel to the road straight into the driveway, still narrow but easier.

I visited for a quick retreat, and picked this cabin because of its proximity to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The cabin is as-described: good kitchen, comfortable beds, nice views. If you stay here, check out the South Grove trail, it's the best in the park (and it you're here for multiple days, save that trail for last). I am very glad I read the reviews. I saw another reviewer's warning about the driveway. If you rent here, arrive before dark, seriously. I got in fine because I came in the afternoon, but navigating this Z-shaped driveway after dark would have been dicey. A photo of it in the ad would be nice. All in all, a quiet, clean, well-appointed space in one of the prettiest spots in California! Had a nice time.

Enjoyed dinner on the patio with the great Forrest all around. The beds were comfy and the showers were awesome. The house had everything we needed. Definitely would stay here again.
