My Granddaughter and her two young daughters live in Denver; my son and his 3 adult daughters live in Houston, and I, the Granddad lives in East TN. We used the holiday to celebrate! The cabin was great and everything was just as advertised in the listing. The location for us was perfect. The young and old alike enjoyed hiking around the 16 acres; two snow saucers were available for sliding down a 50 yard slope in the backyard. Two trail heads for hiking Pennsylvania and Pica peaks, Hoosier pass and Wheeler Reservoir are just a short drive away. As for the cabin, the second floor is the main level with the king and a queen bedroom next to the main floor bathroom. The main area is completely open with the dining area in the front of the house connected to the kitchen with a large island with sink; great for meal preps and serving. The frig is large with bottom freezer and upper French doors for lots of cold storage. It has a two slice toaster and a Mr. Coffee type drip coffee maker. In the cabinet was a crockpot and a large electric gridle with all of the essential baking pans, mixing bowls, and pots and pans. Outside on the covered deck was a gas grill for grilling our Omaha steaks, chicken, and pork chops. We ate in for all of our meals and we did not lack anything for our meal preparations. The Living room was very spacious with a worn but comfortable recliner and two 3-person couches facing the stone faced wood burning fireplace with ample supplied firewood. A large TV is above the fireplace with wireless connection. The connection was capable to handle numerous cell phones, IPADS, and the TV. We did experience a couple hour external outage (no fault of the homes connection) in the middle of White Christmas; gave us time to enjoy playing games! Downstairs is the other queen bedroom, bunk room with two double bed bottoms with twin uppers, a modest game/family room with the double sofa bed and love seat and an air hockey game; a full bath provided accommodations for the downstairs guests. A large electric space heater is provided for addition warmth (temps were in the low teens) while the main level was toasty warm. Overall, the location and the facilities were great for out family of 10 and we all would love to come back. My daughter in law did experience high altitude sickness coming from sea level Houston direct to the cabin altitude of 10,500 feet; everyone else was able to enjoy sledding, hiking, and vistas of the area!
Cabin was clean and well cared for! Had almost everything we needed in the kitchen and bathrooms for the size of our family. Outdoor area was beautiful and well cared for! Surrounding area was incredible! Only things I would change is that 2-3 more towels would have been helpful and the beds upstairs were very uncomfortable. Kids didn't mind the beds downstairs but their bodies are more forgiving. Us adults really struggled to be comfortable on the old noisy spring mattresses upstairs. Also was told by several locals that no burn ban was in place, would have been nice to use the firepit outside. Otherwise the cabin was great!
This property far exceeded our expectations. The home was beautiful and very clean with a very well stocked kitchen. The view on the deck was gorgeous. Our kids loved playing air hockey in the lower level of the house next to the bunk bed room. The outside space was exactly what we were looking for with a large space to hang out and let our kids explore. There was a fire pit, several swings in the trees, a large picnic table, a treehouse and several lean-to structures. One of our favorite things about the property were all the trails. It was so fun to take quick hikes in the morning and evening. We got to see some wildlife including a few huge elk. We ventured down the road and did the Pika trail as well which was easy enough for our kids and had breathtaking views. The pictures and description of this home definitely did not do it justice! It was the perfect getaway to relax and enjoy the mountains.
Beautiful cabin with lots of space. Outside has a huge area to explore and take in all the mountain views!
We visited during the snow time. This was a beautiful home that fit our large family perfectly. We had lots of fun outside they had swings available for us to enjoy and even like a little tree house area for us to climb and play. The kids had lots of fun and adults as well. On the inside house was clean with lots of space, owner had games available for us to have fun, we were able to watch movies and relax and make memories. We had direct contact with owner who attended to any of our questions immediately. No delay at all which was great! Great communication. We will definitely rent here again when back in Colorado.
Good!
Lovely house, very clean but terribly understocked. We could have used Kleenex, toaster, more baking dishes, a throw for the sofa - they're ten bucks!!! We're old so couldn't use a high chair but for sure would have loved a toaster and a box of tissues. Thank you tho - it was a good trip with beautiful aspen hikes.
Overall we had an excellent weekend reconnecting with family at this cabin. The trails and cute fort outside were an added bonus to the lovely open kitchen that we spent most of our time catching up in. I rated the accuracy of the listing as a 3 because we found a note in the shower that we shouldn’t use it due to a leak. This cut the number of showers in half for 11 people, so it was a little inconvenient in the morning. The host was very responsive when we were having an issue with the fridge that was ultimately resolved. I would definitely recommend this cabin!
Stayed 4 days. Nice accommodations. We saw mama moose and baby in side yard by bridge.
We loved this place. It seems like the owners actually use it themselves from how well it was equipped and how much work was done on the outdoor areas. There were a bunch of toys for the kids in the living area as well as swings and outdoor picnic areas. When we used the gas grill on the balcony the grease trap was overflowing and the fat caught fire, but we just waited for it to go out and were still able to use the grill after cleaning the trap out. We got to see moose walking right across the driveway, which we thought was pretty cool. My family visiting from Germany had not seen one before.
Some accommodations were not great. Wifi was poor and no phone service unless you are hanging off the balcony. The kitchen drain was clogged. Keep plunger close by. We didn't have any trash bags. Easy fix we went into town to buy some. Other then that we had a great time. It kepted the kids off social media. But the phone service was the main issue.
