Yosemite National Park, California
A Cabin Retreat by the River 3 bedroom 2 bath Gold rated cabin that sleeps up to 8 people.
If you want a taste of Yosemite from your living room chair…come to Margaret's Cabin in the tiny community of Wawona just inside Yosemite National Park. Nestled amongst the towering pines and whispy cedars on Chilnualna Lane, this sunlit retreat will fill you with a deep sense of rest and quiet appreciation. The living room's floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of the forest and the river beyond. Nature is just a pane of glass away. While sipping morning tea, you may watch the squirrels scampering across the pine needles, the blackbirds winging through the trees, the spring wildflowers in the native grass, or an occasional coyote crossing the land. In the summer, you may gather your beach chair, towel, and inner tube and take a 2-minute walk down a dirt path to the jumping rock and swimming hole in the South Fork of the Merced River. In winter, you may come in from skiing at nearby Badger Pass, warm your hands with a steaming beverage, and watch the snowflakes sifting down while preparing supper.
Margaret, a teacher, worked summers during the '50s at the Wawona Hotel and saved enough to buy two adjacent lots at the end of Chilnualna Lane. She built a tiny, one-bedroom cabin that she visited often to fish, golf, and enjoy nature with friends and family. When the original house burned down in 2018, her family envisioned a new cabin offering the same cozy feeling but with a southern-facing great room and kitchen, letting in more light and giving a bigger view of nature. No Pets Allowed. "EV Charging Station available within five miles of the cabin"

Very nice updated home in Wawona. The kitchen and grill are well appointed, and the bedrooms are comfortable. Be sure to explore the local river and hike to Chilnualna Falls.
We loved staying in Wawona! We got into the park via the south entrance in the evening and had no trouble with traffic at all. The Pine Market was a great little stop for pretty much whatever you would need for a few nights and just a quick walk for us or just the kids. We enjoyed being able to walk down to the river as well. The cabin was bigger than I thought it would be and well stocked. The next morning we headed to Mariposa Grove, just a 15 minute drive to the shuttle that takes you up to the grove entrance. Plenty of parking still available around 9am. I was worried the traffic getting to the valley the following day would be terrible as we had heard, but it wasn’t bad at all! Download the Guide Along app for lots of info about Yosemite and it’s an enjoyable hour long trip. I think the traffic getting into the park at the valley would have been bad, but no so much for us because we stayed in the park. The valley crowd was way more intense than the crowd in Wawona. Not even close. I loved that about our cabin! Thanks for a great, easy stay!
Absolutely loved this cabin. It had everything you needed to feel at home. So clean. So organized. So comfortable. Amazing view of the river. Washer dryer in unit helped so much as this was one stop in a 2 week road trip. Great to have all our clothes fresh and clean midway. This cabin was by far our favorite VRBO experience and we will be back again we hope.
We had a very comfortable stay. Cabin was very very clean and had everything we needed for our visit to Yosemite. Great size for a family of 6. Loved the bunk beds so the littles didn’t have to share beds. Also appreciated that the rooms had blackout shades! Cabins are close together but the Neighborhood is very quiet and right by a river. Even a little store down the street for essentials. Would stay here again!
