This is my 3rd time visiting this place in the last 9 years. Great view. Great Getaway. My family, my friends and I had a great time. We can't stop talking about the experience before and after the visit. My kids (now 9-12) were reminding me the closet upstairs that they were playing hide and seek when they were 3-6 year old. We walked to the state park. We were exploring the tide pool. BBQ, camp fire at night, marshmallow, canoe, boat ride, oysters, seafood, lawn game and etc. We just had a great time. The entire settings made you so relax as long as you walked into the house. Most of all, Mike is a great host. He came to check with us often to make sure we are good. I'm pretty sure my kids will ask to come back again or even bring their kids to this magical place when they have their family.
We have boated past this house for years and always thought it looked like a great place to stay. Turned out to be true! We wanted to use our kayaks to paddle around McMicken Island. Mike gave clear instructions about how to pass through the oyster beds in front of the house. We had a wonderful time.
We really enjoyed Mike and Shelly’s getaway. Very comfortable and the view was spectacular. Lots of wildlife to enjoy. Very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended.
Beautiful comfortable home right on the water and a delightful host.
We has a great mini-trip. Next time would stay longer. Cabin was well-equipped for our family. Mike visited several times to make sure we had everything we needed, and to give us a tour of low tide. We had our 2 boys with us, who loved the beach, but would have been great for a couples getaway.
Top Notch !!
Mike & Shelley's home is a perfect perch for viewing sealife...even better when you launch your kayaks to tour around McMicken Island! The home is thoughtfully decorated and well equipped for cooking & outdoor games. We really enjoyed our stay with our kids, boating, hiking & clam digging at low tide. Thank you Mike & Shelley ...you were great hosts!
Beautiful place, breathtaking views, private and secluded, hosts are very warm and welcoming, enjoyed our off the grid family time. We keep coming back to this special place.
A few things of note...there's no WiFi, no TV, no door on the master bedroom, only 1 shower, but a magnificent jetted tub, limited beach access... having said that this place is Gorgeous and Tranquil and everything you could want to relax and be in the moment. Oysters are delicious. Bald Eagle flew 10 feet behind our lawn a few mornings, otters and seals pattered about. It's a magical place. Thanks to Mike the Wood Fairy for fresh oysters and Dad jokes. Thanks Shelly for our sweet digs with all the cute rules.
Spectacular view, friendly hosts, comfy beds...this place was exactly as promised! We had fun exploring the area and will definitely remember this weekend for a long time.
Great house and fantastic location right on the water. House was setup well with great sleeping and cooking facilities. Awesome views from inside and outside on deck/lawn. Great beach walking and fire pit for nighttime fire with smores. We will be back!
Beautiful property amazing view and very quiet. If your looking for a nice peaceful weekend away stay here. The property owners are very kind and a joy to meet and talk to. the house and property is very clean and organized. We'll definitely becoming back for a summer stay. Thanks to Mike and shelley for a great weekend
My first impression of the property was that the photos did not do it justice! I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the cabin was, and what great views you get from the kitchen table and the loft upstairs. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful, we were really looking to be away from people and this was the perfect place. The tub was amazing, but just know that it dries itself afterwards and is really loud, we thought something was about to explode but it was just the tub cleaning itself! There were some ants, but they already had traps out for them. The bed was VERY comfy. We would love to return again over the summer, and could literally stay for a whole month!
This is our second time we have stayed in this cabin and we will be back. It is a favorite of ours. Peaceful, relaxing and you can’t beat the views. The host is friendly and helpful and very much appreciated. Mount Ranier popped out for us our last evening and it was such a gift. We have told so many about this particular Vrbo. Spectacular!
An absolutely perfect place to relax and recharge. We saw seals cruising through the bay, otters playing in the water and a bald eagle soar past the huge windows that look out on to the water...all during breakfast! A unique, quiet and peaceful experience, we hope to be back this summer! Thank you Mike, for opening this beautiful property up for people to enjoy!
The home was every bit as beautiful as the pictures and the location was absolutely gorgeous. It is a very quiet area and perfect for a plugged off few days. Mike was a gracious host and lent us the use of his canoe and life jackets, which we used to explore nearby McMicken Island. We absolutely recommend his home to anybody looking for peace and relaxation.
This is a beautiful home right on the beach. Lots of oyster shells to discover and you might even hear whales singing at night time. Mike and Shelley are very welcoming and hospitable hosts. They live just up the hill from the beach house which makes it very convenient and reassuring. They saw us attempting to make fire and a few minutes later Mike showed up with a load of dry fire wood that made our (originally pathetic) fire going strong for many hours. Will definitely come back!
This place was great. Awesome private beach, fun private dock! The owner was super nice! The onl
This place is fantastic! Wall of windows, water right outside, watch the wildlife, mountain, and stroll the beach. Mike was very helpful and friendly. Perfect family getaway for my wife and I, my parents, and our two young kids. We’d love to come back!
The minute I walked in the door I felt spoiled. It was the best way to recharge for the weekend. Well stocked kitchen, beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Hope to come again!
This place is only a 90 minute drive from Seattle, but feels worlds away. Surrounded by water and sea life, it was such a peaceful weekend. Being there Sunday-Tuesday, we practically had the whole area to ourselves. The description didn't mention it, but there was a canoe we were able to take out and paddle around. Our host, Mike, made us feel right at home. Thank you! We look forward to coming back soon.
This was our third trip back to this property and it never fails to live up to expectations. Wonderful cabin and a perfect location for a Puget Sound getaway. Paddle board or canoe from your own private launch, fish off the dock (cast to the north to avoid the oyster pens), play games on the lawn, fire up the BBQ for a shellfish cookout, walk the land bridge to McMicken Island at low tide, or simply kick back with a book and enjoy the view. This property has it all including a generous home owner who is willing to share with you all the tips and tricks on the island, pitch in a canoe and life jackets if you need them, and toss a couple oysters your way.
We had such a relaxing time! Loved exploring during low tide, Long Beach walks, watching the seals every morning, swimming and paddle boarding, relaxing around the fire, and the beautiful views! Very clean. Comfortable beds! Will definitely visit again.
This is our third stay here and we loved it! Our girls ages 5,8 and 10 loved the beach and water. The collected sand dollars, baby crabs and caught a few baby fish fishing! We swam in water and walked to the island when tide was out. They loved it! So nice sitting outside on patio and fire was amazing at night. Thank you for another memory!
We spend a good number of our vacations at VRBO rentals and this property was one of the few that I really wished was our own. The location was spectacular for views and access to the water and nearby state park coastline. The lawn served as a great area to unwind and let the children play while being able to keep watch while preparing meals and lounging. The home itself was clean, well appointed, and comfortable with plenty of space for our family. Mike was very accommodating and friendly. He made us feel welcome as if we were distant family reconnected. We are sure to be back. Thank you, Mike, for a helping us have such a wonderful weekend.
We had a wonderful and very relaxing stay at this beautiful little beach house. The photos really don't do the location justice - from the house there's over a 180 degree view of the water and picturesque McMicken island to the North. The place was perfect for us - no TV or WiFi but we got a couple bars from Verizon which was enough to text and answer emails. The lawn the water side was a highlight - we made good use of the games available and played croquet and corn hole and used the fire pit on several evenings. All of us loved the neighbor beach dog Lucy, who adopted our family while we stayed. We brought our kayak and paddle board and used those a lot - also my boys enjoyed the jumping off the float in front of the house. The house had everything we needed - great kitchen stuff, good bedding, and ample towels. The jet tub upstairs was also well-used. It was great to talk to our hosts on the first night and as we were leaving - Mike and Shelley were so nice and very responsive with our few questions. We will certainly be back!
During Covid19 this is the perfect getaway! Complete privacy! Little cell service, no WiFi and no television. It was easy to be is paradise and pretend this pandemic was just a bad dream!
I almost want to keep this place as my own secret and say nothing... Beautiful, calm, perfect location, full of adventure and I look forward to another start there at some point in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful Harstine Island beach cabin. The home is well stocked, very clean and comfortable, and the views and proximity to the beach are incredible. We brought our kayaks and enjoyed paddling during high tides and beach combing and clamming during low times. We didn't want to leave and will return.
We loved our stay at Harstine Cottage. The views were great, loved looking at the water with all its wildlife. We enjoyed sitting around the fire roasting s’mores and watching the moon rise. Owner lives nearby and is especially friendly and helpful.
Fabulous house, hosts and the view...... spectacular! We had a quiet restful stay combined with a great experience clamming and lots of fun. Can’t wait to go back.
A peace of heaven. This house is spacious, beautiful and bright. Little details about the family history makr it loveable. You have everything you need for indoor and outdoor use. The location and view couldn't be any better. It is so quite an peaceful. We will definitely be coming back.
The house was really nice inside and out. Very well maintained property, and the owners are the nicest people. They live nearby and were so kind in showing us things to do in the area, and allowing our kids to use their canoe all weekend. We had an amazing and relaxing time and will definitely be back.
After our stay last year we had to return. We are glad we did since once again Mike was a great host, making sure the house was immaculate and making his canoe available for our family adventures.
This was our second trip back to Mike's cabin and we planned it for a low-tide weekend. It was pretty great - we had clams both nights and plenty to take back home afterwards. When it's low tide, the sandbar that connects Harstine to McMicken Island magically appears and you can walk right across with your bucket and shovels. No need to drive to the state parks. Just walk right over the neighbor's beach property (Mike's cabin guidelines state it's perfectly fine to walk across to get to the park and McMicken - just don't start digging on private property!) Thanks again for hosting such a lovely place Mike.
We decided to have one last weekend get away before our baby was born and before our 7 year old daughter had to go back to school. I couldn't have picked a better place. The island is great, it was relaxing to walk on the beach to the land bridge. There is nice little farmer's market on Saturday and I reconmend visiting the Wild Cat Sanctuary if you have a couple hours for the tour. The house was very clean and updated. I could tell the owner Mike takes a lot of pride in the upkeep and cares about people having a positive experience while they visit.
We had a great time! Our young kids loved to play on the beach and search for crabs and sand dollars. We spent lots of time at both island parks and really enjoyed how quiet and secluded everything was. Mike was so generous sharing green beans and zucchini with us. We are already looking forward to our return visit and have recommended this home to our friends and family!
This property is so special and wonderful! Perfect for our family. Spectacular outdoor setting with bald eagles seals and even a little state park island you can walk out to on a sand spit at low tide. The accommodations were very well appointed and Mike and Shelly couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend! We will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay. Mike and Shellie where wonderful to us. I would highly recommend this cabin to my family and friends. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Mike Glaser was so kind hearted. We appreciate all you did for us. Thanks Rich, Diana, Sam and Taylor
It's a great property with wonderful views. The lot is very private and helps to make it feel like a vacation getaway. The house has everything you need and the owner is very accommodating. We will be back!
Everything was perfect. We loved the setting, the 4:45 AM sunrises, the canoeing in the sound and around McMicken island, the barbecuing and shucking fresh oysters, the beach walks and biking around the island. Great little farmers market and state parks to explore. If you miss the sunrise you still have the beautiful view of Mount Rainier. Other highlights are walking to McMicken island on the sandbar during low tide, watching the bald Eagles fly overhead and the numerous water foul. Owners shared with us be fascinating history of the property and surrounding areas. The house itself was very spacious and had everything guest would want.
The house and grounds are extremely well kept. The beds are comfortable, the view is great and the home well stocked. Our days were spent walking to McMicken Island during low tide, hiking Harstine State Park, walking to Fudge Point, and swimming in Case Inlet and Mike's freshwater pool. Our evenings were spent canoeing around McMicken Island and into the Fudge Point estuary, dining on fresh clams provided by Mike and enjoying beautiful lawn barefoot around our evening fire. Thanks Mike for sharing your home and treating us like friends instead of tenants!
We stayed 3 nights at this beautiful Harstine Island cabin with 3 couples, a toddler, and a baby. There was a little something for everyone. We brought kayaks (which we were able to launch nearby), dug for clams (which there were an abundance of), ate oysters (which Mike hand picked for us), played lawn games on the beautiful grass, went for bike rides, had bonfires, and enjoyed the beautiful views of the sound and Mount Rainier. Mike was very welcoming and helpful. Minimal cell service and no internet made for a much needed relaxing and rejuvenating long weekend. We will definitely be back!
Its a beautiful and peaceful place which worked great for our private family reunion. The relaxing and inspiring view of the water, the island and wildlife refreshes the soul. The well appointed amenities and warm welcome from the owners made us feel at home. No restaurants or shops nearby so bring groceries and enjoy using the nice kitchen. Having no TV or internet gave us more time for board games and just talking to each other. We'd like to come back.
I was looking for a place where my 4 and 6 year old children could explore the Puget Sound with their dad, who grew up in the area. I am very glad that I was able to book this outstanding rental, which fit the bill perfectly. The kids were able to explore the Sound and it's wildlife to their hearts content. They got so hold starfish, jelly fish, sand dollars and every kind of shell imaginable. They dug clams at the state park and we made fresh clam chowder. This rental was stocked with all the right equipment to make the chowder, including a grinder, to grind up the larger clams! The property is beautifully maintained. We loved the green grass which was thick an plush. The outdoor fire pit was great in the evening to roast marsh mellows and watch the tide come in. The beds were luxurious and we slept really well. It was nice and quiet at night with only birds and the occasional boat. The owners were very friendly and helpful for our stay. Mike showed us around when we first arrived and even left us some fresh produce midway through our stay (green beans and cucumbers!!) There is not a TV or internet service in this rental which was a positive for my family. We had excellent cell phone service, however. It was great for my kids (and probably us older folks) to have a vacation with less screen time. I would recommend this rental without reservation to any family or friends. There are actually 3 full RV hook ups as well, making the space available to expand to fit more people if necessary. If you are looking for a vacation without a crowd, with beautiful views, and interesting wildlife, rent this spot. You won't regret it!
The cabin was awesome, everything was brand new and freshly cleaned. It was a very easy drive from downtown Seattle. The views were spectacular from inside and from the patio. Mike and Shelley are very friendly and helpful with the local area and travel info. He raises clams and oysters on the property and will guide you in gathering and preparing them. We had an excellent quiet and secluded trip. I highly recommend this property if you want a quiet getaway to experience the beauty of the puget sound. We saw eagles, seals, otters, deer, and various birds right from the patio and the beach is easily accessible and fun for long walks.
We had a wonderful trip. Mike and Shelly are great hosts--they are super friendly and generous. The cabin is in a fantastic location with an amazing view. It was really well-equipped, warm, and clean. There is no TV or internet, which we viewed as a plus. The windows are great for enjoying the Sound if the weather's not good, and the lawn is ideal when the weather cooperates. It's an easy walk across to McMicken Island State Park when the tide is low. There is lots of great wildlife to see--bald eagles every day. The description and photos are accurate. The property is very well-maintained. As noted above, the owner is extremely helpful. We highly recommend this property and plan to return.
We rented this cabin for a bridal party...'the groomsmen' stayed here and the brides party the first night. The girls were VERY jealous of the boys epic view, sweeping lawn and fire pit! Inside is spacious, bright and very clean and new. Great views even from the bath tub and the king size bed in the loft laying down. Highly recommend this cabin for an active family or a quiet get away. The owner have done it RIGHT!
Fantastic stay in Puget Sound with water and Mt. Ranier sitting on deck on front yard. Well maintained private cabin - excellent for small wedding party. Bonus had incredible nighttime view of blue moon around outside fire pit. Well maintained. Can't recommend this enough. Paul
We had a great experience renting this property. The owner is helpful and informative. The property is clean and well maintained and the listing here accurately reflects the property. The location is beautiful. There is enough stuff to explore nearby if you are so inclined, but its also a great place to just relax and enjoy where you are. We brought our dogs and they were welcomed and able to run and explore.
My husband and I came to this lovely cabin to restore our souls. We walked away with so much more. The cabin was very open, bright, and far more comfortable than I had anticipated. The radiant floors were a delight to my bare feet. The huge laundry machines were convenient, as was the fully functional kitchen. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. During low tide, we were able to traverse the massive sand bridge leading to McMicken Island--a beautiful state park with simple hiking trails and plenty of opportunities to observe majestic eagles, playful seals, stunning starfish, and crabs the size of your head. During the evening, we sat outside before a warm fire, drinking a fine bottle of Borolo wine and watching the moon rise above the horizon. It was beautiful and slightly surreal. The gentle lapping of the water at high tide lulled us into a deep and relaxing sleep. Upon waking, we were greeted by the sun as it rose above the waterline. We sat in bed, enjoying our coffee, talking, and watching the boats and birds play upon the crystal-clear water of Case Inlet. After day three, we were more relaxed than we had ever been. It was difficult to leave. We have vowed to make this our new vacation spot each year. It is like our home away from home.
