Overview:

Built in 1880's, my Victorian-era home, is located at the end of a peninsula on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Massachusetts Bay at the beginning of Hull Village, the historic section of town. The house has stunning views from every window of water filled with sailboats, lobster boats, and kayaks as well as Spinnaker Island, Hull's very own 'Mont-Saint-Michel'. Sunrises are spectacular. By night, the light from Boston Light, built in 1783, the second oldest workinglighthouse in the US, and the only lighthouse to still be actively staffed by the US Coast Guard, shines through the windows.

The Space:

Recently refurbished, the Master Bedroom Suite of rooms contains one large bedroom with a king size bed, a separate master bathroom with a twin size day bed and a full trundle bed, desk area, jacuzzi, shower and separate toilet room. There are magnificent water views from every window. The Master Bedroom Suite also is equipped with a coffee maker, hot water heater for making tea, cups, spoons, forks, knifes, napkins, coffee, tea, milk and sugar, wine glasses and a bottle opener, a toaster, a mini-refrigerator, a hairdryer, free wi-fi, bedding, and towels. A continental breakfast is available on request. Other items that may be needed also can be provided on request. The Suite is a great place for a romantic getaway place for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids). Come for a night, a weekend, a week or a month!

Guests have full use of the Master Bedroom Suite. Guests also can enjoy a variety of outdoor seating areas located on the wrap around porches overlooking the water on all sides or a private patio area surrounded by a beautiful garden. Access to the Master Bedroom Suite is through the patio doors located at the back of the house or through the home's front door, then passing through the living room area and up large wide staircase to the second floor. A key to the house is available on request.

The Neighborhood and Activities

Sunbathing, swimming and beach-walking are available either a few steps away, immediately in front of my home, in Massachusetts Bay or in the Atlantic Ocean accessible from Nantasket Beach located a mile away via a stunningly beautiful walk along the waterfront, a short bike ride or a very short drive. Ferry service to Boston and Boston Harbor Islands National Park can be found a mile away at Pemburton Point overlooking Hull Gut and Peddocks Island, the site of a WW II army base. Commuter rail service is also easily accessible in the neighboring town of Hingham. A variety of excellent restaurants are located at the other end of town along with the last vestiges of Paragon Park, including arcades, ice cream stores and one of the country's oldest carousels. A variety of clubs and restaurants offer great live entertainment daily all year long. Kayaks also are available for rent in order to explore Massachusetts Bay and Boston Harbor as well as the Weir River Sanctuary. Hiking and exploring are available all along Hull's coastline and on World's End, an undeveloped, waterfront peninsula owned by the Trustees of Reservation located a few miles away in Hingham. Miles of waterfront roads offer easy biking. Hull's Lifesaving Museum is located a short walk away. The beautiful towns of Hingham and Cohasset, Hull's neighbors to the South and East, are short drives away with stunning waterfronts, fine restaurants, historic homes and a Wompatuck State Park and additional Trustees of Reservation properties to explore. Both Plymouth and Cape Cod are easily accessible with a day trip to Martha's Vineyard available via a ferry located an hour and a half drive away.

Getting Around

The house is one mile from ferry service to Boston and the Boston Harbor Islands National Park. The ferry ride is approximately 20 to 25 minutes to the Boston waterfront. Bus service is available from Hingham to the end of Hull's Peninsula and goes right by my home. Commuter rail service is located about 6 miles from the house. A car is very useful for easy access to all local sights and Boston.

Beautiful home overlooking the harbor with a magnificent view of the harbor from both the bedroom and dressing/bathroom. The room has its own outside entrance, so you don’t have to disturb the homeowner. Boston is nearly an hour away by car, but you can take the ferry instead, which is only minutes from the home and leaves you right in Long Wharf. Overall, it’s a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city. If only there was a porch or balcony from which to enjoy the beautiful view it would have been perfect.

If you are looking for a getaway in a quaint harbor town, this is your place. Just minutes away from great restaurants and a ferry that takes you into the Boston harbor. The views from all the windows were amazing to say the least. Kate was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and we felt right at home.

Loved our stay here. The location was perfect for us. The house is beautiful and looks straight out to the bay and Spinnaker's Island. Lovely!

BEWARE! If you booked this place already, and it said it had AC, that is a lie. I booked it last September for August 11-18 of this year. I arrived to find no AC, and that it never had it. I called the host, Kate, who basically said turn on a fan and open the windows. It was over 90F outside, and 85F inside at 6:10 pm when I arrived. I called her immediately and she said she thought the weather was fine. Well, her thoughts on the weather really aren’t the issue. Within 20 min my partner and I decided we couldn’t stay there. Rooms face SE, no blackout curtains or shades, just some see-through blinds. The sun beats on the rooms all day. No way to cool off.I had to make new arrangements at the last minute in the summer on the coast. Not easy. I told her we were leaving, on the VRBO site, within 30 min after we spoke. We didn’t hear from her for 3 days. Then she changed her listing 3 days after I contacted her, admitting her mistake. She repeated the same thing about the weather and fans. I got VRBO involved and they agreed with me that I deserve a refund. It’s been 10 days since anyone has heard from her. VRBO has contacted her again. I texted her directly, sent messages through VRBO, given her my Venmo (she also has), all to no avail. She will not admit her mistake or try to make this right. She is just hiding and hoping I will go away. I’m 68, retired, and just wanted to go to my 50th Hull High reunion and see my friends and family in the area.Hard to trust her now.Paul S

The view is unbeatable and the historic house is absolutely lovely. Kate was a gracious host. We enjoyed the master suite and even though the trundle bed for our kid was in the giant bathroom (tub and shower) and dressing area it was separate from the toilet and so it was ok!

My partner and I came up to Hull from NJ to see the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium. Kate was a great host, she was polite and inviting. The space was very clean and the views from the daybed with either our morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening were amazing. The jacuzzi tub was definitely perfect! And the the bed was beyond comfortable. If we needed something Kate was always very attentive without any delays at all. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely love to stay at her home again. It was lovely!!

If you enjoy nautical history and great seafood then staying in this historic mansion will provide a great home base for visiting the South side of Boston Harbor. If we had been able to stay longer we might have ventured into downtown Boston via the Hill ferry to see some of the sights but there were plenty of interesting sights right in the Hull area to pique our interest! Kate is warm and welcoming, keeps a lovely home and can provide lots of useful tips for your stay! We were quite comfortable in our second floor suite.

Two hours before check-in, we still hadn’t received any instructions. I messaged the host through VRBO and called—no answer. The host finally called back, said she had to abruptly go out of town, and that our second floor rental wasn’t ready. She told us to take the third floor unit instead and assured us we’d be the only ones on the property. She even addressed me by name.We arrived, found the key, and went inside for a quick nap. A short time later, my 68-year-old mother woke me up in a panic because someone was trying to enter the unit. I opened the door (there’s no peephole), and two men were standing there, saying this was their rental. Their wives joined shortly after, and we all ended up awkwardly standing in the hallway. The host called while this was happening and started blaming me—saying I should’ve corrected her and that she didn’t know who I was. That made no sense, since I left a voicemail with my full name and she used it when she called back. I was just following her directions, and she told me to use the third floor. Then she made things even worse. She told me and my mother to remake the beds to make them look unused and not tell the other group. She also said the other group was “difficult to deal with” while they were standing right beside me and overheard everything. Completely unprofessional. This could have been scary and dangerous. This experience was stressful, disorganized, and avoidable. I did not appreciate being blamed for the host’s mix-up.

Spectacular views from walls of windows overlooking the boats in the bay. The floor plan gave us plenty of room to prepare for our outings without being in one another's way. The water pressure was strong. The bed was comfy and had plenty of pillows and blankets. All was very clean and well kept. Our Hostess was equally as Charming and Delightful as the home.
