Stayed Dec 31, 1969This unit was in a quiet neighborhood off of US-1 and really made us feel like we were at home with clean accommodations, large shower, king size bed and full size fridge. The walk in closet provided plenty of storage. Chris provided beach chairs, beach blanket, bikes and a kayak. It was so wonderful to sit in the Tiki Hut, to enjoy the shade and tropical breezes, after a full day of beautiful, clear, colorful water. We woke up each morning to see our boat at the dock ready and waiting to head out for more adventures. There is a large driveway for boat trailer storage and truck parking. Fishing was great with fish cleaning station on dock for eating catch of the day. The dock also provided access to a water hose to wash down boat. Snorkeling was wonderful with a number of good reefs for snorkeling near house. Manatee and a variety of small fish could be seen from the dock. Chris was very welcoming and informative of the areas amenities. Definitely a return visit in our future!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really had a good stay here. The apartment was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The layout is a little strange (the fridge is in the closet and the kitchen shares space with one of the showers) but we got use to it! The place was spotless, the bed comfy and the tiki hut just peace and beauty. My husband used the bikes to explore. We didn't do serious dinner cooking, but we could have if we wanted. There isn't a stove, but toaster oven, microwave, crock pot and hot plate covers it. All the kitchen equipment looked new. Restaurants were an easy drive. Chris was a great hostess... there when you had questions and otherwise never intruding. We liked Islamorada as a place to stay in the Keys...quieter than Marathon or Key West yet close to everything.

Stayed Feb 28, 2016My wife and I spent nearly three weeks at Casa Rio. Overall we had an enjoyable stay. The owner does a very good job of responding to any issues (which were few) and the apartment was spotless when we arrived. The apartment was well furnished and comfortable, although we would have appreciated a stove top to go along with the other kitchen appliances. There is a gas grill outside. Casa Rio’s location is very good, sited in a quiet, residential area, with water frontage (two docks). We found ourselves enjoying the Tiki hut quite often. Wildlife is abundant. There is a two-person kayak and two bicycles that allow some relaxed sightseeing from the water or looking at other residential enclaves. Our primary draw was Islamorada itself. The salt water fishing is as good as its reputation - which is world class. There are some decent snorkeling sites, even better when you do via Jet Ski out of Robbie’s Marina nearby. There are a lot of restaurants within 10 miles, many of which will cook the fish you caught, including a nearby Cuban restaurant (Habanos) that we recommend. is located in Lower Matecumbe, which is mostly residential. You will need a car to get to places of interest. The landlady can help you with recommendations. An added bonus is that Key West is only a two hour drive, permitting a day trip. We also recommend a trip to the Sea Turtle Hospital and Crane Point, located on Marathon Key.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Very comfortable, clean and quiet location on nice wide natural Keys canal. Loved the view, the nice breezes sitting under the tiki hut on the swing and seeing the beautiful parrot fish right off the dock in the mornings. Chris was great, would come back in a heartbeat!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Casa Rio was wonderful. I live in South Florida and travel often to the Keys and have stayed in a multitude of places throughout the last 30+ years and this was by far the best for numerous reasons. If you like to go boating, a private dock is available to you at no additional charge. We rented a boat nearby at Seabird Marina (highly recommend too!) and were able to overnight the boat within steps of our apartment in a beautiful setting. The property is a spacious, very clean and well stocked studio apartment with a wonderful view. It's in a serene location just south of the touristy center of Islamorada, so you're close to, but not in the middle of all the noise. Chris, the owner is a pleasure to deal with. She's extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area. She has a nice bottle of wine in the unit to welcome you upon your arrival. Nice toiletries, and little details that make such a positive difference. The bed is very comfortable. She's there if and when you need her but you feel like you are on your own at this wonderful residence. She provides complimentary access to a tandem Kayak, bicycles, beach towels, and a nice gas barbeque. I have two vacation properties I rent out myself in the Bahamas and in Jackson Hole, WY, so I can really appreciate what it takes to make sure everything is in running order and clean. She does such a great job of this in Casa Rio. This is was the perfect getaway and we will be coming back as often as we can. Highly recommend to others. Thanks for your hospitality Chris, hope to see you again soon! Deborah

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband and I just returned from Casa Rio. The home was clean and comfortable and quaint. It is essentially an efficiency and did not have a stove but it had all the essentials we needed, including a fridge and microwave. The outdoor area was beautiful, charming and relaxing. We loved relaxing in the swing in the tiki hut. We had access to bicycles, which we used a few times to explore the neighborhood and nearby beaches. There was also a kayak but we didn't get a chance to use it. Our favorite feature was the dock where we kept a 21' rental boat. We went swimming and snorkeling everyday. Our host, Chris provided great info on the boat rental and where to explore and eat. She gave us plenty of privacy but was around when we had questions. Perfect vacation in every way! I can't wait to go back!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really enjoyed it. Very convenient, and comfortable. If you are looking for a quiet retreat with excellent amenities this is it. Relax on the lounge chairs next to the lagoon and hire a boat for a few days. We hired from Robbies (okay equipment with a discounted 3 day price) and fished back country, at the bridges, and on the open ocean. Highly recommended.
