This is a cute basement apartment in Chicago, not far from the Museums and Chinatown. The neighborhood is lovely and close to many restaurants, and the hosts were very responsive to our questions. Two to three people is just about right for this place.
The location was great and it was easy to access. It was unusually hot in Chicago on August 22,23,and 24. The temperature in the unit never went below 78 even on Friday when Chicago temperature was 73. There were no linens for the sofa bed. Entrance way needed cleaning.
Did not receive the entry code to the apartment until after we arrived. We had to sit in the car and wait for the reply of the property manager. I also called and they did not answer. Upon entry the floor was torn up in places and there was a strong smell of mildew, mold, and rotten egg. It was not very clean, there was still human hair on the couches. The back door was also not locked when we got there. We spent most of our time outside of the property because of the smell and it was also very hot because there was no central AC. Only AC units. When we went to go get in bed at night the bed completely caved in and was broken. We then had to sleep on the pull out couch while our other friend had to sleep directly on the other couch. The extra blankets and sheets were not where the property manager stated they would be. The location was good. Overall, I was upset with the property and would not book again and would not recommend.
The apartment was in the perfect spot! We were close to a variety of restaurants and not far from public transportation. It was pretty quiet at night and the beds were very comfortable. Checking in/out instructions were clear and easy.
Great experience.
We were in Chicago for a long weekend and we are very happy we found this place with such great hosts. The apartment was very clean and it had everything needed for a nice stay. It was also located in a nice neighborhood with several restaurants and small shops within walking distance. It is also in a convenient location as it is close to downtown and close to several parks. We will definitely look to come back when we're in Chicago again.
My husband and I surprised our two boys ages 10/11 with a trip to Chicago. We toured the city, played at the beach, had an awesome time at shedds and the science and industry museum. We felt like we were at home while staying. Traffic was for sure a change for us, but we were glad to be able to show our kids what a change a few hour drive can change the atmosphere. We will for sure be back. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home!
